A little fun fact. The boy playing Wim, Ravi Conyers, played the voice of Antonio Madrigal from Encanto. And they made him look like that character for this series. Also it's good chance that their homeworld is in the Core Systems sector which would be the reason for the suburban look. Plus all of the 80's kid movies always took place in the suburbs! This show definitely has that vibe.
