Any tips for how to become a children’s nurse? Eg work experience? xx
@amyjones36026 жыл бұрын
Lexie Cheung Any care experience is amazing, even if it’s not with children, because there’s transferable skills like working with the elderly/dementia. Firstly you get the basic hydration and elimination care skills that can be used on everybody. Secondly your role as a carer for these adults who are vulnerable puts you in the position where you become an advocate for that person which is one of the most important roles of a children’s nurse (sadly in Victoria’s case this didn’t happen as well as it should). Also when you work with adults you also work with their families as a lot of the time it is them making the decisions on their care if the patient has advanced dementia, which is a transferable skill as with children you work with their parents and families to provide holistic care. Most of all show compassion. If you want to throw me any more questions I’m more than happy to help 😊 x x

This story hits home so hard for me because we were about the same age. Adults in my life could suspect I was suffering from abuse by biological mother. I was in and out of hospital and relatives would pick me up from visits and I was put back into the home of my abusive mother. I was raised in a big family of 9 and I was the oldest and 2 minutes older than my twin sister. The abuse only got worse when I started secondary school and I would regularly come into school with bruises, burns and also black eyes. The only adult that actually took notice and consistently spoke to me was my student support teacher Ruth she built trust with me enough for me to tell her what was going on at home, and one day took me to the side and said “you’re not going back home, I am calling social services”. I didn’t even fight against it. I was sooo tired of it all I just wanted to feel safe. I was put into foster care that very night with nothing but the clothes on my back and my P.E kit, as my biological mum refused to give social services any of my clothes. I tell you when I heard this I just laughed because I couldn’t give a toss about stupid clothes. The first night I spent in care I swear I have never had the best night sleep in my life. I grew up and I began my childhood the day I was cared for properly and I was safe. My first foster carers who were only meant to be temporary carers ended up being my long term carers. My mum who I hate to call foster mom is the best bloody mum a child and adult could ask for. Ruth the Student Support teacher SAVED MY LIFE, when others looked away she chose to step and actually care. Eleanor you have my respect for telling this story the way you did. I’m quite new to your channel but I admire your strength when having to describe such disturbing events and especially to children. You have my heart ❤️

It isn't 'highly' contagious as you need decently long contact with an infected person but it is so obvious if someone has scabies, you would see her trying to desperately scratch at the rash, hell, even the rash itself is obvious. UNLESS it's Norwegian scabies (crusted scabies) they're more contagious than the usual scabies, however rare to get! So I just googled this case, their were a few people that tried to help Victoria, Esther, Cameron and Dr. Ajayi-Obe. Social Services did not take any of them seriously and this led to changes being made to the laws. They all reported the abuse, took her to the hospital, called social services, and at one point had her under police protection, the guilty party beside the two that were abusing her were social services. I can see social services not taking one person seriously but Dr. Ajayi-Obe? Are you serious, this doctor put her under police protection because they felt she was being badly abused.

They shouldv been charged with manslaughter turning a blind eye is almost as disgusting as doing it

Nichole Alderfer Right?! When a doctor especially reports alleged abuse it should be taken extremely seriously!

I think she was just so happy as she thought her time in hospital was her getting saved, then she was let down again and again :(

This is the most horrifying case of child abuse I’ve ever heard.. What a beautiful soul gone to waste. What drives people to do things like this to such beautiful children? I hope both of her “caretakers” go to hell. I can’t imagine how her REAL parents feel. The guilt of knowing I could’ve prevented my child from going through that would kill me.

With the child abuse stories, it's always because the professionals wouldn't do their damn jobs. They literally hold the case until weeks or worse years, when it becomes way too late. She didn't have to die, if people would *ask* her what was going on in a private, safe place, they could have saved her.

Unfortunately a lot of cases fall through the cracks, often abuse won’t lead to death so social services don’t get held responsible

This enrages me, this just pisses me off. The lack of receptiveness from the hospital staff and the social services is outrageous.

This case gives me BIG Gabriel Fernandez vibes. That poor little boy was failed time and time again by the system. Thats a story worth covering just as this one. These kids deserve so much better.

Half of these people would still be alive if the system didnt fail them

Victoria WAS a little angel while she was with us, now she is a true Angel in Heaven. She was such a pure and happy soul. How someone could smile through that torture and abuse, it boggles my mind. It sickens and hurts my heart when I hear of abuse like this happening to such innocent people. I remember hearing about this after it happened and it infuriated me how bad the "system" let this little girl down. I'll never understand why such evil exist. SMH God rest her beautiful soul. I know this was hard for you to research, but you did an amazing job and I just wanted to say thank you. You are now my Favorite true crime channel, so glad you popped up in my recommended a few months ago. I can tell how much you care about the cases and the people and families involved. It shows in all the hard work that you put into the research and videos. 😊

neta jones Cases like this breaks my heart and aches my soul. Victoria was a beautiful little girl who deserved the world, she deserved every happiness in life. But her life was cruelly taken from her. If social services and the other professions took the blatant signs of abuse seriously Victoria would still be here today. I looked at the photo of Victoria where face is severely burnt and it devastates me how she was still smiling during this horrific ordeal. And my heart breaks for her parents. They honestly thought that their beautiful daughter was getting the best start in life, for only her to get relentlessly abused.

@@32446 England's known for covering up for the establishment to save face. Trash country. All of the UK really. That's how Gary Glitter and Jimmy Saville escaped the law for so long with so many that actually knew from all walks of life. What do you expect from a nation where age of consent and drinking age is 16? Trash. ...and they have the nerve to shit on America. Same goes for Canada and Australia and just about everywhere else under the crown.

Corey M the age of consent in several US states is 16. In the US a man brutally sexually assaulted a woman and did 3 months of prison time. That THING is your president. Get off ur high horse

Ratboyad / i tend to see this happen a lot more in the southern states if i’m honest. i don’t know if that’s true at all but you don’t really hear bout it in the northern states as much. [edit] i’m not going against or with the argument but i agree that people all over the world need to step up their game with their jobs. if they don’t care enough to do anything, why have that job?

I've had scabies, the "rash" it gives you is little silver lines from the bug moving under the skin. I hope that "Doctor" was struck off and jailed. That they will live with the guilt for the rest of their life .

I've had scabies which I got from laying on a bed my ex stepmom just got up from. I didn't know she had scabies or even what they were, I was like 8 or 9 at the Time. Untreated scabies is very contagious so one would think all 3 people living in that small apartment would also have contacted scabies if truly infact had them. Medical professionals should have known that

So far karma hasn't hit her, from what I found online, in 2012 she got a £60k a year job at a Middlesex hospital. So unfair.
