Given the way he wrote about her death in his diary I would venture to guess he was a sociopath. He might not have cared one way or the other about killing her and just did it cause he could. Personally I think there was probably a perverse intention in his taking her and the murder was to cover the evidence or the murder itself could have been for perverse enjoyment. Him claiming insanity or drunkenness sound like just attempts to get off the hook should either excuse actually work in his favor. I'm glad he was hung but it would have been more fitting if they'd let the father execute him via a one man firing squad...but probably for the best. The father didn't need that weight on his shoulders with everything else.

on the subject of the knives not being rusted, stainless steel wasn't invented till 1910's, meaning that knives in the 1850's could be suspectible to rusting due to the metals they were made of. in comparison, today we use stainless steel which is rustproof.

I live in Scotland and I've heard that saying countless times. It seems to be interchangable with "sweet FA" which I always thought stood for "sweet f*** all." My parents and grandparents have used it jokingly when we ask what is for dinner, or what we are getting for christmas, both versions. I always wondered how we started using the name Fanny as an insult, a name for female genitals, and also as a term for mucking around and doing nothing (fannying about). I even used the term myself a lot as its very very common here in central Scotland. I will NEVER use it again.

This is so sad. It's a shame she died in such a horrible and gruesome way and that they are using her name for a cruel way. I can't believe how she was cut up and some parts have still not been found. But, may she rest in peace knowing that her killer didn't get away with it... It was obvious he wanted to kill her with the fact that he disposed of her in such a cruel nature, and if they hadn't locked him up in prison awaiting his trial he probably could have done it again. I honestly don't know why people kill people, or why people kill kids, or why kids kill people or why kids kill kids, it is disgusting and especially if it is in a cruel way. Like with the James Bulger case or the Baby P case.

I always try and remember murder victims not the murderers themselves like the hungerford killings Dunblane and many more. The little Victoria climbe and james bulgar little poppi and baby peter case got me the most. They was so young just babies and toddlers at the time the little Victoria was killed by someone who was supposed to love her she was 8 years old holly and jessica murders in solham April and sarah murders by pedophilies frightened me they was just kids out playing. Thats what me and my sister used to do was play out in the parks or walk to school or to the shops by ourselves in the 1990s and 2000s there was so many children being harmed and killed by their parents or loved ones. Few was killed by strangers there was has been always fear of stranger danger not to talk to strangers but its usually its parents grandparents aunts uncles and family friends people who know the children can be abusers or murderers. I wanted my brother to be in at a certain time when holly and Jessica was murdered by the school care taker i didnt want my brother going out on his own in fact i dont think he did go out unless i was with him in the garden only it made me paranoid about him coming to harm. I didnt want my brother or sister to be out of the garden

It's simply a reflection of Victorian England, and the dark humour of the time (and really of the human race in general). Ever sang the nursery rhyme 'Ring-around-the-rosy'? Plenty of bubonic plague victims would be just as disgusted.

@@dmarti11235 you kinda just added to my point...if anything. And yes, that's also disgusting. I have a huge sense of humour and it can be pretty dark at times. But a mutilated and murdered child joke, crosses the line imo. I don't care what time it is. That's always bad taste!
@sheenaalexis87104 жыл бұрын
@@dmarti11235 and btw I'm well aware of ring around the rosy, the children who have played that had no idea of the origin not to mention the lyrics are innocently vague and not at all obviously negative. The ADULTS however who partake in the fanny Adams joke were very aware of why and what they were saying referring to bad tasting meat as her. One is wayyý worse then the other! Very different examples I think.
@dmarti112354 жыл бұрын
@@sheenaalexis8710 But the thing is you're judging it off a 2020 morality that didn't exist in 1869. Public executions existed back then. Beating your kids and having them work in factories was also okay then, but is (pretty much) universally accepted as wrong today. I'm not defending it, I'm saying that you can't decide that people were terrible then based off a set of morals that didn't exist. In 2150, it may be absolutely evil to kiss someone, but that doesn't make you a disgusting person for doing so in 2020.

I love old cases like these! It's probably just because I'm obsessed with older eras, but I find them to be more mysterious and interesting. I'm absolutely not telling you to do more of these, but if you enjoy making videos about old cases I would def watch the hell out of them. Also, I think crime must have been worse back in that time. The only difference being that most were labeled natural or suicides and because they didn't have the technology we have today they could never say otherwise. We touched this in a Sociology class before. And that media was nothing like today, so people didn't know of crimes that took place. It always makes me think of The Lovely Bones and how she said that only pretty white girls were made known when they go missing, even though others were definitely victims. Perhaps cases like these get sensualized because it was obviously a murder, and it was pretty obvious who had done it. Doesn't hurt that she was a little girl. Maybe that's why I'm so obsessed with old cases, because they were handled so much different than they are today. Also, back in the 19th century and younger, they seem to be much more brutal which is also very interesting. Anyway, I'm rambling. I love you and thank you fo all you do. I know I've said this before, but it's always true. And I don't blame you at all for putting the phrase explanation on here. I mean, if anything is distasteful it's me as a child happily singing the Lizzie Borden song. So I could never judge lmao
@bq4196 жыл бұрын
Exactly, she said crimes didn't happen, which is obviously not true, it simply wasn't reported or known as much
@sewageskank67306 жыл бұрын
Beatrice Quaglieri Totally! It was so hard to solve crimes due to lack of knowledge and technology. It was hard to even decipher what was a crime or not. And it's really hard to spread the news when it took a week just to receive a letter. The amount of crime that was underreported back then is sky high, I'm sure. I understand why people think crime didn't happen in older eras, because that's how it seems, but it was entirely due to murders not being reported or not cared about. I'm sure people back then felt safer murdering others because of this? I mean, I haven't looked too much into this, but it seems like that is something that would happen. It was easier to get away with it. I'm just using her as an example because I mentioned her previously, but Lizzie was found innocent despite having so much circumstantial evidence against her. It was so difficult to prove anything for certain. She was let free despite everything. (also sidenote, I'm not saying for sure that she committed those crimes, but there are some things abt the case that's hard to ignore) I remember watching a doc on some family from centuries ago, and how the young child would kill people with axes for fun and it proved him worthy of being royalty. Like people had very narrow views on ethics back then. So I am certain crime was so much more common back then.

About Lizzie Borden, part of the reason she was found not guilty was the tgen popular idea that women were weaker and more delicate than men. She appeared to grow faint when crime scene photos were shown in court. Also, she was from a more affluent family in the town, always an advantage.

I feel like now I know where that saying comes from, I shall endeavour not to use it and to explain to those who do use where it came from. Fanny Adams may have died in the 1800’s but she still deserves respect and humility

i really appreciate the fact how she give warnings to things people are sensitive to, such as child murders, which is a thing not a lot of people do. the amount of effort and research you put into these videos is absolutely amazing.

I've only watched a few seconds of the video, but I had to pause and comment about how beautiful your eye makeup is. You're a true artist.

It’s crazy how these sayings come about and then we all use them everyday without really knowing the true meaning! I prob won’t be using that one again! So excited for true crime week x

I live in the town where this one happened so knowing a lot of local history I can tell you that this is an extremely accurate telling of the event
