Your new neighbours are going to ask themselves if that's an Explorer in your pocket or are you just happy to see them.

The Swiss army Dannians? Danites? LOL I think before you finish moving you're gonna want to do a video about how you wish you had the pioneer X or the pioneer!

Wenger Traveler & Highlander seem to always be in my pocket. Victorinox PioneerX, Super Tinker, Evo14 & Yeoman are some of my favorite Victorinox models.

I carry an explorer with SwissBianco plain titanium scales from years ago as my EDC. The scales have been through several victorinox knives, as they age I swap out the core. I like the explorer best as it has the inline philips and the magnifier helps as I am aging… 😂

Totally agree about the layers, despite voting for the Explorer in comments of the last video. It's the single reason I don't carry one more often myself. Like you, I'm much more likely to be carrying a 2 or 3 layer SAK with a 58mm Rambler or Classic SD along for the ride. But in your current situation, being in the process of moving and all, I think it will serve you well! And you'll be back to the thinner Swiss Army knives before you know it!

I think Victorinox has discontinued it’s line of Scout knives so your Explorer is a collector piece. That being said having the phillips screwdriver & larger flat tip might be helpful with moving & setting up your new home.

Hi Dan! Is there a way for me to contact you with a few pics of a swiss army knife gifted to my husband? We are trying to get more info on this particular knife and the logo on it. Let me know! Thanks!

The explorer is cool but for me its to bulky to keep in my pocket. 2 layers is as far as i will go for pocket carry.

Nice 👌 I hope you enjoy the explorer man. My favorite 4 layer that I have is a mountaineer...strange ford made an explorer and then re bagdged is under mercury and sold it as a mountaineer, but I digress..

First of all, good luck with the new house and life adventure! As far as carry... The explorer is a fantastic knife but falls into the wrong thickness category... I carry my SAKs on. Suspension clip myself, and of course the thinner the better but I find myself happy up to 3 layers or... 5 and above! The 4 layers tend to swirl around, that's why I hate carrying my beautiful explorer and my beautiful huntsman, while when I feel I will need to be prepared for anything the choise is a ranger, adding one arritional split ring for the clip, so that it naturally stays on it's back against my leg instead of on it's scale... Surely not the most comfortable but acceptable, and can to everything

Out of all my knives the only two large 91mm knives I carry are the explorer and deluxe tinker, the explorer prob ends up in my pocket for 30 days out of the year at max, i agree it's a big one and for my day to day life not very practical. A super tinker with some plus scales or better yet my compact work a lot better as a daily when i do carry a 91mm, i mostly carry just a 58mm knife though.

I started carrying an Explorer a few months ago and have really been enjoying it, aside from a few things. It's definitely on the thicker side of SAK for my normal liking. I'm used to carrying 3 layer tools and smaller, but the magnifying glass and inline screwdriver make the extra layers worth it, for my daily carry. I find the benefits of the magnifying glass for assisting in small, precision applications to be invaluable. The newer style lense is a big improvement over the older gray one, in terms of being able to actually SEE things better, but I'm not sure how it'll hold up over time; I've heard of people having issues with the lense popping out on the newer ones, but I haven't experienced any of that so far. The inline screwdriver is in a much better orientation for actual use, in hand, but I wish that the tip of it was a little more similar to the older style; the newer one is a larger size phillips head on a shorter length shaft, but has been sufficient for most of the things that I've needed it for so far. I went ahead and threw in the small Victorinox phillips screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew to help with smaller size phillips needs. I always have to have a pair of Victorinox scissors on me, as I find myself needing them all the time. The scissors on the Explorer are the larger variety and are absolutely perfect in hand and in use. I've carried the smaller "Rambler" sized ones, and they will get the job done most of the time, but they are completely surpassed in usability by the larger ones. With the tweezers, magnifying glass, small blade and scissors on the Explorer it makes for a great little hygiene and "first aid" assistant. I've used it to trim my fingernails, pull rogue nosehairs and even find and remove tiny metal slivers. Overall, if you can take the extra weight, I've found the Explorer to be one of the most enjoyable SAKs to carry on a daily basis; if you find yourself doing little handyman tasks and finer detail work that may need closer inspection, or if you just want something to help you primp a little, it can help a little with them all.

Shame I missed that vote mate but I'd probably have voted for the Explorer too since that's the only one with an inline Phillips driver and you may well need that during the house moving process. As to my own choice in that situation it would be the Swisschamp, which I've been EDCing since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. I had 8 models in different sizes already, all with either saw or scissors, or in the case of my Farmer X both together. But I wanted to try the inline Phillips, file/hacksaw and small pliers. I was looking at the Explorer, Ranger and Tinker Deluxe but then I just went the whole hog and got the Swisschamp. Surprisingly it's been no problem to carry in the 5th pocket of my slim fit jeans - I can't fit into skinny as my legs are too thick due to years of cycling, slim fit fit me like skinny! It sits snug there and doesn't get in the way if I'm riding a bike or working. Sure it's got tools on it I rarely use but all in all it seems the best solution and covers all kinds of contingencies, like I can use the saw to escape if I get locked in a wooden box.

You've got the perfect tool for the job with the Explorer for the 30 day move challenge, just make sure you have a strong split ring and suspension clip because she's a heavy thing.... 😂😁😎👍 Let us know hiwmit does Dan and hope you and your families move goes well.

I just went the whole hog and got the Swisschamp a couple of weeks back, it was the superb inline Phillips which clinched it. They're both near as damnit the same size so in for a penny, in for a pound...I mostly carry it together with Knipex Cobra XS and folder like the Spyderco Urban so with that toolset I can handle a lot of work
