The Victory of the Whale - Official Video

Live session at the Cetaceans Gallery - Museum of Natural History, Venice.
With this song and video, we are happy to celebrate the Victory of the Whale and the success of Operation SISO 4. The operation took place in the waters around the Aeolian Islands, resulting in the confiscation of over 15km of deadly driftnets and no entangled whales in the Med Sea so far.
The video was filmed at the Museum of Natural History in Venice under the specimen of huge dimensions of a finback whale (Balaenoptera physalus) and a sperm whale.
The "Victory of the Whale" song is a track composed by Camilla Fascina and Edoardo Cicchinelli in support of Sea Shepherd. It is performed by Camilla Fascina (voice), Roberto Soldatini playing a 300-hundred-year-old Stradivari cello, and Daniele Capuzzo (keyboard and arrangement).
It includes original marine mammal sounds provided by the Watkins Marine Mammal Sound Database, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
The lyrics of the song recall the epic victory of a mighty sperm whale, Mocha Dick (later renamed Moby Dick by Herman Melville) that rammed and sank the American whaler Essex from Nantucket. The whalers had just harpooned and killed a pod of sperm whales, including a female sperm whale. The ramming of the Essex by Mocha Dick represents the victory of nature over man.
The sinking of a ship is never an event to celebrate, but in this case, it represents a rare moment in history when Nature's sense of justice prevails.
The video features Geert Vons, Artistic Director of Sea Shepherd Global.
The “Victory of the Whale” song will be part of an upcoming music album entirely dedicated to Sea Shepherd, to be released soon. All proceeds collected from the song and album purchased go towards supporting Sea Shepherd with their ongoing campaign to protect marine animals.
The “Victory of the Whale” is not only a song: it started as an art project in collaboration with the London Tattoo Convention, resulting in an art book with over 70 contributing artists. I have been a supporter or Sea Shepherd for a long time, since there was a retail outlet in Friday Harbor (even before) and I contribute what I can financially. But it is mainly in my heart and spirit that i most contribute. My prayers and meditations are devotional and directed towards my earthbound higher powers-the whales, dolphins and orca of the great blue planet. It is so frustrating to see the continued degradation of the earth and seas, and I am so inspired by the men and women of Sea Shepherd. You are doing the work of the Angels. I am pleased to see the inclusion of the Arts (beyond media arts) and wish that you would provide the services of an active , full-time Lively Arts A & R person, who would recruit the major Artists and their management, to record and produce works that would be of benefit to Sea Shepherd, the Shepherds work, and the planet and species in general. As for this piece. even though I couldn't understand the lyrics, I appreciated the Artists and their form and technique. Bravo and may God bless.

We need to stop all whale hunting as Japan, Iceland, and Norway still hunt whales. In addition, we need to stop all industrial fishing and netting in the seas and oceans. No fishing nor netting for profit. Let our seas and oceans return to their natural state. Only allow industrial fish farms that are overseen to make sure mercury and other toxic chemicals contaminate the fish.

Where is your morals, you are for industrial farms where fish and animals alike have nowhere to move, a life of pain. Yet the whaling done by Norway is killing an animal that has enjoyed its life, the best way to get food is to get food from the wild. Its like hunting wild game. Now answer this do you eat steak?

@@AAAA-cq7si Norway only respected the IWC's whaling ban until 1993. Using a loophole in the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling, Norway objected to the whaling moratorium, and resumed hunting for minke whales. Norway sets its own quota for the number of whales its whalers are permitted to kill for commercial reasons. This number has gone up and up, from being allowed to kill 671 minke whales in 2002 to more than 1,000 today. However, in recent years, less than half of this self-allocated catch limit has been taken. Norway is now hunting a higher proportion of breeding females which could put the long-term survival of minke whales in the North Atlantic in severe danger. Norway even kills adolescent whales including young blue whales.
