Not only is Simeon a great culprit character, he fits *perfectly* into the thematic elements of AAI2. Firstly, throughout the whole game, Edgeworth faced the question of what it means to be a prosecutor, even at some points considering giving up his career altogether. But here we see how corruption in the justice system could compound and sprial, producing the tragic and monstrous character that is Simeon. It serves as an antithesis to what Edgeworth has been trying to do in his uphill battle against the Excelsius and, ultimately, demonstrates to Edgeworth why his purpose as a prosecutor is so important. Secondly, the game also explores the question of one's legacy, and the critical role each generation has in mentoring and nurturing the next. We saw how Gregory instilled the values that grew and to motivate Edgeworth's pursuit of the truth as a prosecutor (likewise, Kay's father and Kay). On the other hand, we saw how Franziska and Eustace found other role models to grow, despite their questionable upbringings. Simeon, however, was straight up abandoned - and, as a child with no protector, instead of being sheltered by the justice system, he was actually preyed on and molded into the monster he became. It really highlights how one generation - whether they be parents, friends, mentors, or the "system" in place - can both nurture or destroy the next generation.

One of the things I find most facinating about Simeon Saint is that, at the end of the day, he is pretty much the ONLY Ace Attorney culprit who, for all intence and purposes, pretty much won. He did end up succesfuly getting revenge on all the people who ruined his life, and while he was cought for his crimes and sent to jail in the end, the game kinda implies that maybe, this is the best outcome for his character. Simeon was never really in peace ever since the SS-5 incident, always feeling haunted and being on the run, but now in jail, he finally gets to be safe again, and stay with Kanis, the only person who he truly considered to be on his side. As Kanis puts it, he finally has a Home. And for as fucked up of a person as Saint was, I think there's something, oddly really beautiful about that...

Simeon is definitely a victim but it doesnt excuse his actions I find him the best final villain in the series for several reasons 1.He is refreshing cause he is just a normal guy with no powers whatsoever 2 There were a lot of hints that he is the mastermind The red raincoat,him being a friend to bronco with bad families,he was in the fireworks area where john was kidnapped,shelly saying that his client is a "key" individual(fan version) He said he didnt like sweets(cause of his father) And lastly his name I will talk about his fan name Simon keys- simon- pretty much simon says(he ordered everyone to kill each other and they did) and keyes- he is the key to solve the case But now we have the new name simeon saint It also has foreshadowing "Simeon" can be linked to biblical or saintly figures, hinting at the deceptive appearance of righteousness He presents himself as righteous and "trustworthy", much like the biblical figure, but this turns out to be a façade, hiding his true manipulative and sinister nature The saint part is another reason Cause players will think that he may be a culprit in case 2 but after case 2 people will be like "oh he was really a saint one after all" and then we have case 5 I like this foreshadowing 3 he is smart,intelligent,cunning and very manipulative 4 he has a strong relevance to the story Without him AAI2 wouldnt exist 5 his backstory is the best when it comes to final villain(yes better than dahlia imo) 6 he techinically won in the end cause all of his enemies were dealt with which I found interesting 7 He manipulated everyone perfectly Even edgeworth of all people which is really cool 8.I love how well he is involved in chess and father relationship with son theme(it does not feel forced) 9 I love how his story ends and how his actions can be interpreted differently He ends up with canis who was like a father to him which I find oddly wholesome even tho he is a assasin Now his actions If he was caught in case 2, fifi,excelsius and the fake president would be free to do whatever they want So by freeing one guilty man free we got 3 more as a exchange(who are much more evil) and one innocent death(rosie ringer) Makes you question. What would be better in the end? None culprit in the series is as complex as simeon Imo

The name Simeon Saint may also be a reference to Saint Simeon Salos, a 6th century Christian monk from Syria. Simeon Salos was one of the first of what would be known as "holy fools", wandering monks who used their odd behavior to challenge immoral societal norms. Simeon Saint is the opposite, using his eccentricity as a mask for his immoral behavior.

I had to put off watching this until I beat the game, then I needed a day to digest the game. I do believe, like how Edgeworth did, that he was a victim. He was set up pretty bad with his father, who only cared about himself and thus got abandoned by him when he did nothing wrong. He felt betrayed by his friend, and a child may not understand abuse another child is suffering (I do believe Bronco was abused given his choice of words). Then the next authority figures in his life certainly abused him. The guy had a rough life, not to mention those after him were very powerful people. I’m not surprised that he turned out the way he did, and he was very well written and the art work of him was perfect. He is a tragic character imo, certainly a victim, but that drove him to become a manipulator of crime, with no regard for those who could be affected; Bronco, Kay, Rosie, etc…It was just a phenomenal character

He is in my opinion the best culprit in the series. His revenge plot was amazing after all it was all done by the time Edgeworth and the others find out. His tragic backstory makes all his motivations and behaviour completely understandable. I love how he is the big bad of the game, the one behind almost everything that happened but at the same time is the leasser evil compared to the other culprits (Specially Excelsius) and even if he did it for personal revenge, he helped in taking down very awful people (And again, specifically Excelsius) soo he is less of a villain and more of an antihero. But of course the best thing is how he completely fooled Edgeworth (and us) the whole game, we defended this guy and prove his innocence and we didn't never expected or find out that he was the mastermind almost until the end of game, producing the biggest plot-twist in the series. And the last thing, he faked a breakdown 😂😂😂. Truly and unforgettable character in this wonderful series.

Notably even if Bronco’s dad was Gustavia, Simeon’s vengeance for that shows how far off the deep end he was. He clearly didn’t even remember his father but was willing to kill a friend simply for being the son of the person who killed him. Perhaps because he laid all the blame for his suffering on his father’s death however he couldn’t reach the murderer… so he reached the murderers son that was “complicit” in the murder by tying him up. His mind was so twisted he saw everything as a sign of betrayal

I think a song name from the great ace attorney best describes Simeon, "sympathize with the sinner, not with the sin" Simeon is VERY much a sinner, but thats mostly because of his circumstances, so you can sympathize with him, but you cant sympathize with the murder he committed, while yes it was technically self defense, but you still cant exactly accept what he did to him...anyways, Simeon is a great character...if only Bronco hadnt stopped him...or more rather if only his dad hadnt forced him to stop him...

It's important to note that, even if you think Bronco wasn't fully innocent, then he manipulated Bronco into killing Rook, who really WAS innocent. So that's at least 2 innocent people (Rook and Ringer).
@enlongjones239426 күн бұрын
Simeon does claim that Rook’s death wasn’t one of his plans. That was entirely Knight’s choice. Simeon wanted the fake president to be killed by deKiller, and then for Knight to take the fall for the assassination. At which point he’d manipulate LaGuarde into killing Knight. Rook was unrelated to his various revenge plots. Which I think makes sense. Simeon has no qualms about letting an innocent person take the fall so that he can get his revenge (see what happened to Kay and Rosie). But Rook’s death didn’t advance his plans in any way.
@TheGerkuman25 күн бұрын
@enlongjones2394 I agree, but it doesn't really hold much weight in regard to my original point. If a hypothetical fan is part of the 'Everything that Simeon did was justified' group, this is an argument against that. He clearly doesn't care about collateral damage (same with Rosie).

On one hand, Excelsius and Fifi were terrible and deserved punishment, on the other hand, Bronco and Rosie had to die for Simeon's plan to punish them. If Simeon wanted to ruin them, he could jave revealed the truth about the president just like Kanis threatened to do. On the other hand, Simeon was clearly at least a bit insane and the system had failed him at every turn, so it's understandable that he went for the crazy plan (which almost failed from the beggining, if not for Edgeworth, as Fifi almost got Simeon convicted for Bronco's murder).

I originally played the fan translation which had some slight alterations to Simeon’s dialogue. Like… I was so used to calling Bronco Knight and Simeon Saint by their fan translation names of Horace Knightley and Simon Keyes that getting used to these new names (damn you Excelsius Winner) has been kind of hard. I feel like Simeon while he IS a victim is basically like a victim of p*dophilia turning out to be one themselves. He has what we call a victim complex, while his motive is sympathetic and he clearly lost his sanity years ago, he sees himself as justified in everything he does and nothing he did was wrong. And that’s why I love him so much, he’s an incredibly realistic Ace Attorney villain that shows anyone can be a scheming little bastard like him. It’s not all black and white. A character from another game that kinda fits Simeon’s messed up viewpoint on the world is Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa 2 who, without spoiling much genuinely believes all bad luck is reciprocated by good luck. You get in a plane crash, killing your parents, but leaving you with a massive fortune. You destroy the gymnasium of your school down, but you end up NOT being expelled as a result, and in fact graduate with flying colours? You become a puppet for the main villain of the series but end up almost killing her, had it not been for a deus ex machina and constantly thwart her plans in the name of Hope.

As much as Simeon is another victim of SS-5 i still can't feel bad for him after all he commented a lot of crimes most of them being really awful. 1 this one isn't a crime but it foreshadows the crimes he committs in the future. He helps his dad cheat at the confectionery contest. 2 he helps a assassin. 3 he intercepts mail. 4 he planted a bug on Kay. 5 he commented two accounts of kidnapping, one of which is a young child who is a well known actor, is the son of a late foreign president, and is the adopted son of a judge who's on a Council which is the highest form of law in the District. 6 he knowingly manipulated two people into commenting murder. And 7 he murdered a government official. With all of that I would be surprised if he only got life in jail.
@Teknanam2 ай бұрын
1. He didn't help his dad cheat. Last I checked, there was no rule against having someone taste your foods. The worst thing Simeon did before the kidnapping was help maintain the lie that Carmelo Gusto could taste food. But its not like that was against the rules. It just meant that without his taste tester, Carmelo Gusto couldn't make good food. The actual cheating was Carmelo collaborating with Artie Frost when they were supposed to be competing against each other. 2. There is no "good" thing Simeon could do with the SS-5 incident. Not helping Kanis means Kanis gets murdered by Excelsius, Fifi, and Fake Wang and the truth of SS-5 is more easily buried. Plus, Simeon clearly felt indebted to Kanis since the man saved his life. No matter what, Simeon would be assisting a criminal whether he saved Kanis or not. 7. Fake Wang tried to shoot Simeon. Considering the impractical nature of killing someone with a hot air balloon, there's no way a court is going to believe that Simeon came up there planning to kill anyone. An easy self-defense killing to argue.
