@@39zack IIRC, they did have a funding campaign for the show, I thought I saw a video (or podcast, maybe) with John Delia taking about it. Something like them being able to raise enough to get the show made and hopefully recoup some of the cost and effort through YT views (and physical media sales), but it didn't get the viewership they had hoped for. It's sad, it's widely applauded by everyone who has seen it, but the numbers just aren't there. This is extremely well produced and is on par with other network produced content. I could definitely see watching this on something like Hulu I think they should revisit the idea. It's been a while and the landscape for this kind of content has changed. Pat has been successful with his lexicon books of the NES and SNES library, with a third on the way if I'm not mistaken, I think it's time for the 90's video game years!

Nintendo Fun Club! One of the only periodicals I received as a kid, since it was free. I was bummed when Nintendo Power came out, since my parents thought gaming magazine subscriptions were a waste of money and it meant an end to Fun Club. It was cool while it lasted though.

Final Fantasy would be better if they looked like actual adults though. The friggin design inspiration by Dragons Quest games made it look like deformed toddlers with bug eyes :P. Basically FF1 NES original got the right idea, when you upgrade your class job and then they look like actual adult sprites. But we cant have that.. so this did not become the standard of FF2-FF6 -_-. FF7 fixed this though in battle and so it became better

Pretty spot on with the XEGS line. Atari really should have put a little more work in the hardware and a little more than just recycle old hit games, which were great but Nintendo had brought in and one-upped the old style (Zelda = Atari Adventure on steroids and donepezel. But so few games have even remotely direct comparisons and even then Nintendo embraced the old tropes and made them original again. That's way-cool.) Loving these annuals. Thank you much!!

I was wondering why a lot of games that debuted in 1986 didn't appear in the 1986 episode: so I guess you are using North American dates, not the Japanese ones. I'm glad so many of my favorites were mentioned this time around. 1987 honorable mentions (I will be using the original Japanese dates): Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest II, Faxandu, YS I: Vanished, Metal Gear, Shadowgate.
