Totally agree with your sentiments in the beginning, sometimes youtube can be such a hostile place. I also feel this time to time and try to ignore the haters! But yeah it's kind of the youtube culture to be super anal and picky with things people do in videos. Thank you for your honesty and for being authentic. The truth is there are a lot of people making beautiful art - there’s no shortage of art to admire (which is how it’s supposed to be, full of life not competition). But it’s harder to find artists to connect with, ones that make you feel encouraged, inspired, and not alone. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in performance and expectations, but ultimately you’re a person. I watch because I connected with you and your mental health journey. Just hearing you talk about procrastination or writing five things down in your journal and only get to two is huge for me. I’m struggling to accept progress verses completion and adjust my to-do list according to my emotional capabilities. All that’s to say I support you and look forward to seeing more of you :)

I love this! Looking forward to a new style, happier, HulloAlice ❤️. I am so, so happy that you are NOT going to continue to struggle down that dark road of forcing yourself to make content that YOU are not interested in, just because of ratings. Personally speaking, I am not at all interested in any of the ‘I tried painting the Mona Lisa with Crayola Crayons’ type of stuff...even though it seems to be popular. And beginning-to-end art instruction videos, although useful, often send me to sleep 🤣. I would much rather see a happy, entertaining studio vlog, mostly unedited, with snippets of information and education and appropriate small voice-over sections. It makes so much more sense to interchange the presentation and content because it keeps the whole video fresh and easy to watch. Also Happy Alice is a joy to listen to and I also loved that you showed your space in all it’s messy-ness. That’s what real art studios look like, and it lends encouragement to those artists who are using a cramped corner of the kitchen table, or who think they can’t create art without an aesthetically pleasing space. Happy Alice’s enthusiasm is contagious and encourages people to have a go at creating themselves. And don’t forget that Nana Judi used weed to help with her pain and medical conditions. There shouldn’t be anyone that you feel the need to hide this from!

I went through savage burn out on a form of art. I did it for nearly 20 years and sold to the public as a job. Now I can't stand the thought of picking up a brush and doing that particular art. This is such a hard thing to deal with, particularly for an artist. You need to do what is going to make you happy, healthy and helps you grow as an artist. If that means shifting over to Etsy or Twitch more than KZbin that's okay. If you need shift your content for YT to avoid the burnout, that's okay too. It's necessary and healthy. Take care of yourself! Find your balance - whatever it takes. Whatever happens (and it probably won't be nearly as horrible as what goes through your mind because that's human nature) YT will take care of itself. Your health is 110% more important.

In general, KZbin is a platform that eats itself. The algorithm destroys channels on the regular. You have other aspects of your art that you do that you love, so put those first and see youtube as a platform to wave a flag around to point people to those other aspects of your work. Do not worry about the numbers or the "is this the right content" or any of that. Do what feels right to you. Your views and other stats will tank regardless of anything that you do because that's just how youtube does it; it's just a chaos engine that way. So don't be afraid of putting up the "wrong" thing, and just ignore the people who just seem to be showing up to get offended, same as you would if that person was yelling at you from across the road. Those who appreciate you will be reasonable, and those who don't never mattered anyway. Good luck with your experimentations!

Love your honesty and addressing your own vulnerabilities with you work. It takes alot of work to address your fears and shame around being a perfectionist :) Be true to you and people will follow. I hope it makes you feel more free in your life. Hey, so I know a little of how you feel. I was born with JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) and have been living with it now for what's slowly coming up on 38 years. As a kid, I was always super against anything "drug" related. That said, I'm also a massive proponent of the ideal. "Live and let live" so I never thought any differently of people who did do drugs. The reason I put "'drugs" in quotations because I relied on prescription medication throughout this time, and technically those are also drugs. On top of that, I don't really consider pot a drug. I mean, I know it is technically, but it's healthier than smoking cigarettes, messes you up less than alcohol, and isn't even illegal anymore here where I livr (Canada.) I have tried it for my Arthritis pain, although unlike your experience, it didn't do enough for me to spend time and money using it. That said, I really gained a healthy respect for how amazing a plant it really is for some people. I just wish it didn't have such a terrible reputation. Anyhow, I use now and again for my anxiety and stomach issues so I didn't abandon it when I learned that it didn't have an effect on my pain. :/ Anyway, just wanted to offer my solidarity and reaffirm that we're here for you! I wish you all the best and I sincerely wish the best for you ♡.

My best mate has JRA, I have Psoriatic arthritis, it's tough living with chronic pain (we're both in out 20's). If people understood the daily impact of our symptoms I doubt they would judge the use of medicinal marijuana. Hopefully Scotland gets it's arse in gear and legalises it too. It could help a lot of people. 🤞 I'm so proud of Alice for talking openly on this subject. A brave thing to do and honestly, inspiring, anything that raises awareness is good in my book. 🥰

This comment may get buried but on the off chance you see it, I think you should take the channel in a direction that is 100% you and those that love you for who you are will stay. There's quite a few KZbinrs that I like but mostly just follow on insta bc while I love their art and they inspire me, I don't find much joy in just watching a faceless hand create and there be no voiceover or any way to feel the vibes of the other person. Also, when you're happy, it'll make those watching happy. So I truly believe that when you find the way to create that you find the most comfort in, people will still love to watch you and just love you as a person.

I'm here for an authentic Alice channel 🙌🏻 I'll keep supporting you regardless of what you post because I love this channel for YOU. You are a joy to watch, so you should also enjoy what you are making.

Sometimes we just have to start our journey alone and find people in our way. Good thing is that you have a large community that supports you. Some people will leave and some other people will join. Just do what you have to do because this is your life. And even if we as followers had helped you grow your channel you don't owe us ANYTHING so upload what you want and when you want. Love your channel and wish you the best 🌼

Awww, Girl, go live your life! You are FREE! Let this thing, that started as a fun hobby, an encouragement to others...but somehow became a ball and chain, fall to the side. Throw off all that hinders you from living in abundant peace! I have enjoyed your videos...but the truth is this: YOU OWE US NOTHING. People can be SO CRUEL on the internet... and in person. If this platform is compromising your health and wellness, let it go. That's my vote! ❤️

I can relate to your honesty in the beginning, and the truth is I feel like everything KZbin artist comes to want to do their own thing, not what people expect of them or the perception of that. Remember what David Bowie said about not playing to the gallery ♥️ I’m happy you’re staying and evolving as a person and artist. Those who are true will stick around because they truly dig you and your art. Also a fellow medical cannabis user for chronic pain! 🙌 I fully support you.

I’ve been a longtime subscriber and your art videos relax me a ton. I love studio type vlogs since those are relaxing too! If you or any other YTer post a video that isn’t up my ally I just skip that one; it’s not a reason to unsubscribe and hopefully no reason not to post it. Have missed you and I’m so glad you’ll be posting more and without fear!

I love the vlog! It’s great for me to be able to see a real day in the life of a full time artist. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s still a good life. Also your personality just makes me happy! Thanks for being real with us ❤️

ok first thing, im SO proud of you for posting this video even though you were scared. i started watching your videos in 2017. it's been 4 years and i too have grown, as a person and in the art department, we all change, this channel will change and grow too. AND OMG AN ALICE CHANNEL SOUNDS AMAZING. i'll forever be that 14 year old who watched your it's ok to make bad art video in 2017 and felt a little less alone or the speed paints with fun storytime voiceovers or the one marker challenge, lol sis im sticking around with you

There is no shame in being your own fan, creating for your own enjoyment, and being yourself outside of the dreaded algorithm. I'll still be here to support you on your journey. And tbh I'm not going to tell you what I want to see, bc I want to see what you want to show. Also heck yeah, MMJ users of the world speak up!!

I'm trying to be a better advocate for responsible use and show that you can use MMJ and be a productive and valuable member of society!!

@@HulloAlice I get you, and it's sad that we have to do so much convincing bc I've seen firsthand users of MMJ (and just MJ) who are loving parents, government workers, successful in business, etc. All looking really good on paper but keeping that part of their lives quiet. But, ya know, it's ok to talk about getting drunk. Make it make sense 🙃

So glad to hear that you are going to make content you want to make, not what youtube says is popular! That is really brave and I hope more people would start to do that as well.

Do what makes you happy this is advice that I think many of us need to take myself included, I'm new at YT & I already feeling similar in terms of producing content I've started stressing over uploading & overthinking in terms of whether the video is good etc. I remember watching Baylee Jae's update video regarding the changes to her channel & thinking wow that's cool! it must be so freeing, & I don't blame you for wanting to switch things up, I've been watching you're channel long before I became a subscriber I enjoy you're content & personality. I think you'll do fine in terms of the new direction, adorable kitties! by the way. have a great day ❤

Alice, sweetie, I came for the art but stayed for the wonderful person you are. Do what makes you happy and that makes me happy. I don't smoke due to health reasons and I don't like it but it doesn't change my view of you, as long you don't hurt yourself and anyone and stay happy, im happy. Thank you for being honest and hope things will go great for you! Love your vids, keeps me motivated and a reason to keep drawing. Hope to be just as good as you in art. Hugs and lots of love from a fan in Europe!

I love this so much. Seeing the true authentic Alice is my favorite thing ever. I love your art and appreciate your videos so much. Today, we have definitely seen the different Alices come together in this vid. Making changes is so hard and I hope you are very proud of yourself for following your authentic self. You are so dynamic and I am excited to see what you create from here. You are awesome and we appreciate you 😍😍😍😍

You were one of the first art tubers I watched on KZbin. I have watched you for well ever it feels like. At the end of the day, this is your channel and your art so express it how you want to express yourself haha. Also, I love how you roller brushed your art work. #catlife
@kevinluckham3 жыл бұрын
This is what artists actually want to see. The actual process. The day to day details that affects the creative process. How people put themselves into their art. You don't watch Bob Ross to see a painting. You watch Bob Ross to experience Bob Ross.

It took me awhile to subscribe to a lot of art youtubers when I first got back into using youtube after taking a break. I don't remember when I subscribed to you officially but I've been really vibing with who you are as a person. I definitely commented more via instagram and twitter then lurking on twitch stream nowadays. I've been more "supportive" in the fact I've probably over commented -- but it's refreshing to see you take ownership as in pivoting to make your channel what you want it to be so I'm here for it. Get dirty with the unknowns and experimentation so you can find your spark for this medium.

Alice, do everything you love on your channel. I will be supporting you through it all, and I'll make sure to subscribe to you on my own art channel when I log on again. I think your reaction is normal because we all try to fit a model, but really, the channels I love only grew when they did what they love. You can truly tell in someone's video when they truly do and don't care/enjoy what they do. I can't wait to watch you blossom with content YOU enjoy creating. I will always be supporting you, and I need to hop on your Twitch (hopefully you stream when I'm not at work or in class!)

hi alice, i have watched your channel for a long time. i might have commented a few times, but mostly i have been a silent supporter. maybe i will make some changes too. :) i am glad that you decided to share your thoughts with us. i am sad that you have felt pressured about the type of content that you release. not everyone will like everything that you make, but that is okay. with the changes to your channel, you will gain new followers to make up for those that left. what is most important is that you are happy with yourself and what you create. i will be staying no matter what you decide to share with us. i have grown to really care for you, and like you as a person - not only as an artist. i am excited to get to know you better. p.s. i really love your cat! he is beautiful, and i love his eyes!
