The Paris Peace Accords say South Vietnam have to respect the 1954 Geneva therefore South Vietnam yet not a country until after it held the reunification which didn't happened in 2 years. 8:00 another misinformation, Saigon was taken without a single open fire, all of their soldiers surrendered without fighting back. Saigon was peacefully taken.

@@imabitmid You can read this on Wiki about Hoa people. 75% of people fled on the boat were Chinese ethnic. 85% of Chinese in South Vietnam were living in Saigon Chợ Lớn. 50% of Saigon population was Chinese. Chinese-Vietnamese held 80% of South Vietnam's GDP despite making up only 5% of the population. Chinese-Vietnamese has a superior complex toward Vietnamese and isolate themselves from the rest of Vietnamese. 600,000 Chinese were brought to Vietnam between 1920 and 1930 by the French to be their henchmen there. Before the land reform, the Chinese-Vietnamese controlled 80% of the Vietnam rice market. The Chinese-Vietnamese hold a big part in the 1945 famine that killed 2 to 6 million Vietnamese. In 1955 and after 1975, the Chinese-Vietnamese refused to apply for Vietnamese citizenship, so the government made it more difficult for them to stay if they didn't have citizenship. Many anti Chinese acts were performed by the locals in 1979 due to the Sino-Vietnam war leading to the people fled on boat.

Just a few things, South Vietnamese troops didn't wear the straw conical hats, they were equipped and uniformed similarly like American troops. Which used M16s but for some reason were shown using black AKs in this series.
