Unfortunately it still is pretty much forgotten in so many blue voting states since every single person in power for the state is part of the democrat party and they don't care for rural populations. As someone living in Washington state, this is especially true for us and other states like Oregon, and California. Look at maps that show how each county voted for those states and you'll quickly understand. Most countries are red and a few countries with cities vote for the entire state. I realize this is always the case but it's really bad for larger Western states with much more significant divides between city and rural populations compared to Blue East coast states with similar issues being usually around 50/50 voting and their rural populations being still closely located to cities and big towns since our western counties are the size of their entire states. Our states are like 70/30 for Harris/Trump even though only a couple of counties are blue and those people live hours away from many rural populations. Edit: our rural counties are typically even more red voting than most rural counties in other states just out of realization of how bad it is for all laws in the state being targeted for city populations and rural populations having to abide by the same stuff even though it makes zero logical sense for us. I can't even begin to describe how many taxes we pay for infrastructure that only relates to major cities in the state 4 hours away from us and get hit with very high carbon taxes as if we have the option to not drive and bike 50 miles.
