20 out of 10 Fellers. My absolute all-time hero. What a player. I worshipped him and couldn't wait to see him play every week. You can watch TV interviews with Brian from the year dot and you'll see he's never changed. He's always been that relaxed, happy-go-lucky feller that you see in this video. Superb production lads - I thought it was a really short one until I looked at the times posted. They say time flies when you're having fun. It did here. Thank you. I followed the Villa team home and away all through the 70's. I was only a kid myself (13 in 1970/71 season) but I clearly remember the amazing League Cup Semi-Final Second Leg win at Villa Park in '71 (pre-Brian Little really). Sixty odd thousand crammed into the ground to see Third Division Aston Villa against the mighty Man Utd - Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law, George Best and all - what a night. An unforgettable 2 - 1 win for us and my first ever trip to Wembley to see the Villa. We finished 4th in the League that year but the following year Brian really started his breakthrough, and started carving out his historic first team career that was unforgettable for all of us that witnessed it. So sad that injury curtailed it. I remember Brian's brother, Alan, too. A decent player, as Brian said, but there was some stiff competition for places in those days and some really classy midfielders in the ranks who proved to be better players in the long run. I may well have my rose tinted specs on but they were very special days. The likes of Chico Hamilton, Sammy Morgan, Andy Lockhead, Ray Graydon, Frank Carrodus, Tony Morley, the legendary Charlie Aitken... the list goes on and on all through those iconic years. Superb heady days, and King of the lot was Briian Little - "Brian Little walks on Water..." was one of our regular and favourite songs on the terraces. What a magician he was. He really could do the impossible at times. He'd be worth well over £200 million in today's game, I promise you. Thank you Brian for all those magical memories UTV VTID

Wonderful to see this interview with Brian Little, not only my all time greatest Villa player/hero, but a major reason why I started supporting Aston Villa in early 1977. I also very much enjoyed the interviews with John Gregory and Ian Taylor; who are both Villa favourites for me also. Well done Villa View even if these have been online for a long time now (I only just found them). UTV ;-0)

My absolute Villa Hero - thank you so much for this interview. You just wouldn't hear this sort of stuff anywhere else: Villa generally get overlooked by the nation's media, but with people such as yourselves doing things like this, it gives us Villans from other generations a chance to really appreciate some of Villa's all time greats. Brian Little Walks on Water!

Absolutely delightful and fascinating to listen to Brian Little. Wonderful man and Villa through and through. I've always said he is the most undercapped England player ever. I remember that 76-77 season very well, we hammered lots of teams that year. Little and Gray was the most fearsome strike partnership in the league. I always remember the great Emlyn Hughes describing the first 45 minutes at VP when we smashed Liverpool 5-1 as the worst of his career and that was all down to Brian and Andy Gray! Can't wait for the rest of this series. Always consider Brian Little as a gentleman and he always comes across like that when you hear him talk. Fantastic work guys, well done! UTV

Brilliant again fellas, too young to see Brian as a player but loved him as manager and he gave me one of best moments as a fan when we beat Leeds at Wembley. Keep up the good work!

Love this man. I only remember him as a manager but he was absolutely terrific. Sir Brian and Big Ron are my favourite Villa managers ever and the team he built between 1995-97 was just fantastic. 97-98 was his first dodgy season but had he stayed I still think we'd have been ok , in hindsight the signing of Collymore really did rock the boat. Happy days though.

Fascinating to hear Wee Brian talk about Ron Saunders. We've all heard the 81/82 boys talk about him but not so much the 70's lads. Even though they're completely different characters, I remember the League Cup final win in 96 where he made sure they maintained their professionalism by all being in bed by midnight. I remember at the time thinking that's Ron Saunders influence!

I remember that penalty he missed!!!! Against Oldham. What a game that was. He got a hat-trick in the end, last one was down at the Holte End and he ran with it from what seemed like the half-way line. He was everything great about Villa in the 70s. Back-heeling the ball over the defenders head and he was so clever. He had a lot of great players with him as well... Gidman for a start. So glad he didn't play for birmingham.

It was a brilliant time. Sadly for Brian he had to retire just before the beginning of the 80/81 season. Too early. I always thought he was up there with George Best, but I might be a bit biased.

Thank you so much for this lads and thanks to Mr Little for giving a lot back to us, the fans that idolised the man. I was a Holte Ender for years starting as a kid and Mr Little is my all time favorite. That 77 League cup win was memorable for the joy and the pain for me, the semi final was against QPR, we drew at their place and drew 2-2 at ours too, the pain came from John Burridge saving a penalty at ours, as he did the crowd behind pushed this 11 year old me forward and crushed me against the rail, it was only a few seconds so I was ok but my arm was in agony, we went on and won the replay and the rest is history. Anyway, we went home to me Nan who said we're off to the hospital as that arm isn't right. Turns out that it was broken and all I can remember from it was the Doctor asking why I haven't stopped smiling the whole time, to which I said...... Budgy saved the penalty and no one had a clue what I was on about. UTV

Give yourselves another huge pat on the back lads! If this had been a "big-production" style interview we wouldn't have found out as much about the man himself, he might be a bit more guarded. I've noticed all your guests open up so that's tribute to the team. I never knew Brian was like that (or Ian Taylor or John Gregory etc). Top geezer!

Brilliant guys. Absolutely enchanting interview. Brian was my idol as a young lad supporting the Villa. I used to love coming to the park to watch this man. Wish you Matt and Dan could have been around when this guy played. He was awesome. I can also remember the night Brian came on for England as a sub. Had a beautiful assist. I also remember Don Revie saying in the after match interview that there would be plenty of time for Brian in the future. Then his injury put pay to that. Shame England never saw more of him. Keep up the good work with the Villa View guys, nice one Dan for the editing too (noticed the moving cam in the interview) nice touch 👍🏻

Any plans to interview someone relevant? That's a serious questions btw, not meant to be a put down to those you've interviewed so far, it's just I can't think of another way to word it.
@SpyroTek7 жыл бұрын
I guess the word I was looking for is "current" not "relevant", but you get what I'm saying.
@DanielRolinson7 жыл бұрын
Totally get you. Working our utmost to bring ex player from the 2006 days onwards but as you can imagine that's difficult. We're also looking to bring more current content as you say and are working very hard. I know these videos with players/managers from 60's onwards isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I hope this is a good starting block to get to work with more recent stars. And that's in no way a slight on Ian Taylor, John Gregory or Brian Little who we thank immensely for this opportunity and the content is fantastic. But I do get what you're saying. Hope that goes someway to help explaining our situation? (Although I feel I've worded it terribly!)
@SpyroTek7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm glad you understood what I meant as I wan't trying to put anyone down. I love the interviews with these guys as I'm not exactly a spring chicken myself either, so I have fond memories of them. :D It would be interesting to have some interviews with more current people/players, but I don't mean instead of, I mean as well as. But as you say though, I can imagine how hard that might be.
