While you are having fun I am scrapping wallpaper this morning and this afternoon I have a the realtor who sold my late father's house 11 years ago who is a trust worthy great guy is coming by to give us the good, bad, and the ugly. This last year stretch to retirement along with a home sale, home buy in TV, and making the long haul from R.I. with 3 cats in tow I am dreading but need to focus on the reward that comes at the end being a TV resident. How fun! Couple of questions... Are there signs on the multi modal paths so you know which direction to go? Do you need to have a preset plan to play pickle ball with someone or can you just show up? The singles group looks really active and friendly, which I think is one of the things I’m finding the most appealing. Have you picked out a house style you like yet?

Yes there are signs but use the GPS. You can just show up for open play BUT...they do check id's off and on so be ready to show your id. Hopefully I will also be visiting The Villages again in July. It may be a little quieter and somewhat fewer people then. But if you are thinking of living in The Villages year round, this may be a good test of acclimating to Florida in the summer. Enjoy!

I am visiting and renting for the month of August. Weather is not my concern. It is a less expensive time to visit. I am more interested in the surroundings and the vibe. I am used to humidity being from Missouri. Looking forward to it. I watch as many videos as I can to really get the info and feelings from all different people. I actually watched a few videos about On Top of the World community. Seems more laid back there. I can be laid back here where I live. I want activity!

Hello Rusty. Thank you for your informative videos. I have a question about this video. You start out in the morning with lots of physical activities. Pickelball and golf. Then you top it off with a lovely evening in Brownwood. Dinner and music on the square. I have not moved to the Villages yet and these activities give me 'pause'. I am not a sports minded so I would probably be at a loss during the day. I know there is shuffledboard and bocce ball at the neighborhood rec centers. And lots of clubs to join. And most clubs meet monthly. However I think I might be 'a fish out of water' because I'm not a joiner. Especially in the summer. I would have stay in the A/C in the house from about 10am - 6pm. So do you think The Villages would be a good fit for me? Thank you. Marvin Horlick. PS. I now live on Long island, NY

@@Jyeagley1 I agree. Do a Lifestyle Preview Visit. If that goes welll, rent a house for a month or two like what Rusty is doing now. In the summer, there are multiple pools to check out. When I visit The Villages I can easily spend 2 plus hours just at the pool. Volunteer opportunities, fitness classes, educational opportunities. The list is very long.

What kind of representation is there for the homeowners to have a say over the development and the way The Villages is run. Since there is no HOA it appears the developers/builders have the final say how the various components of The Village is run which I hope is not true. I am actually thinking of going down to the The Villages next month to look around but I am trying to get all my facts together before I go. I currently live in an HOA and it is just not working for me but also concerned about an outside influence (builders/developers) overriding the residences concerns and wishes. If you are driving from the Orlando airport to The Villages on the Florida Turnpike. that should take no more than one hour. There are also shuttles that take people from the airport to The Villages. I believe Hertz and Enterprise rent cars in The Villages.

For me traveling from Philly, it takes about 15 hours. I have done it straight through but only once. I drive about 10+ hours then stop. The biggest trick is to time it to stay out of rush hour traffic as you pass through the cities. For me, that means leaving about 11AM. FLY/DRIVE...all an individual thing. I don't mind driving. Uh oh, it looks like you parked the wrong way at the Pickle Ball Court. You're lucky there wasn't a gaggle of Karen's to inform you to park in the front left corner of the parking space, or either the back right corner. Linda from Village Newcomers got educated an ear full once for parking in the middle of a space with her golf cart.

No I'm not aware of it being official, just a local way to maximize a parking space 2:1 vs 1:1. Parking this way also allows each cart to safely enter/exit vs one behind the other or sandwiched side by side.
