The Villas at Disneyland Hotel - DO NOT disappoint!

This was my first time staying in a Duo Studio and it was a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I am not 100% sure this would be a good room for 2 people, but if you are doing a solo trip, this room is perfect. I also have to say, the fact that this DVC hotel hasn't been open for that long, it is still in good condition. I am not sure how well the Murphey beds will hold up in the future.

How was the quality of the bed (being a murphy bed)? I have been told they are not as comfortable.

Surprisingly the bed was comfy. If you need a firm mattress, then you are not going to like this one though. It is soft and squishy, if that makes sense. The couch is super firm, though. LOL! I don't think this room is really made for 2 people though. It really works for a solo trip.

@@waltdisneyohana ironically those types are the majority of my trips these days… but I have been thinking about DVC, and altering my relationship to the park. The strategy is a bit hairball as DVC is super protective of the values of the California Properties.

@@willrontani5894 If you go on a Disney vacation multiple times a year, DVC might be worth it. I look at it as paying for my Disney vacations over months in installments. Also, I would never be able to afford staying at some of these deluxe hotels otherwise. It is a pricey investment though.

@@waltdisneyohana Well in California, the benefits are surprisingly more complex than what is advertised. For example a resale contract at GCH is more expensive than a direct contract at DLH. Yet you get more perks buying direct. It is the opposite of conventional wisdom. The weird thing is a resale at Aulani is really inexpensive, but the I can’t justify a fight out there annually. 🤷🏻‍♂️ California needs a better benefit, but that is not the way folks are playing ball. Trouble is this may be last time Disneylanders can buy in for a very long time. (I am not going to discuss Florida - reasons.)

@@willrontani5894 Yes, you have to buy direct to get any perks. Also, you have a minimum of points to purchase to qualify for perks. Keep in mind, there is also property tax since this is a timeshare. So Hawaii has the highest rate, which is a reason to look really close on the prices at Aulani when you compare which resort to buy. The Villas at DLH are very nice (since they are brand new), I prefer them to rooms at GCH. The perk for GCH is the distance to the parks. But with the new Pixar Pier entrance and the Monorail, DHL isn't "bad" on the distance to the parks. I think, The Villas at DLH will be on sale for awhile, and as they keep expanding the hotels, they will keep building more DVC sections to sell in the future. If you don't want to buy into DVC, but want to stay at some of these rooms, I know there are companies that do rentals. I've never used them, though. Hope you are able to find a plan that works for you.
