As much as I love "The Virginian" the best shows were when these two were together. I think the show would have lasted longer if the two of them were in each episode - even if that meant going to a 60 minute format instead of the 90.

Here in the UK The Virginian airs at various times, although, so far I have a couple of box sets also. I have three signed photos of James Drury, always treasure them. James Drury was The Virginian, wonderful series, which we can still enjoy. Thanks so much Emily for putting this together.

Dear Emily, thank you for a beautiful thing that you are doing. I don't think there are many that didnt like the show. It's my favorite western. I would watch it over amd over. I loved the show very much. The Virginian is a show that most people would dream about and say, if people in real life were to do what these actors portrayed, then can you imagine how wonderful life could be. There is a priceless, unscripted moment in Season One, The Impasse. At minute marker 19, as you look to the upper right of the screen, you see Trampas, on Buck, barreling down the hill at full speed. The Virginian is at the bottom of the hill. You realize that Trampas has lost control of Buck, and he runs into the rear of Joe D. The look on his face when they hit, and Drury’s exclamation, are priceless!! And they didn’t cut it out. You will also note, he tries to knock Drury out of the way. And then Trampas covers the hit with the exclamation, “ They must smell that water”! One of my favorite bloopers....But, a bit frightening!! 😳😬

There's a movie called The Virginian released in 2014. Wasn't as good as the series as it portrayed Trampas as a reckless drunkard and Judge Garth as a greedy rancher bent on monopolizing cattle ranching in Medicine Bow. Trace Atkins portrayed The Virginian well enough though. Acting was good, just wasn't true to character of the series.
