The Virpil DCS World Tournament I MESSED UP

This weekend Virpil Controls held its semi-finals DCS World race in which the 64 qualified participants would compete for a spot in the finals. The remaining 16 participants will compete for the awesome prices Virpil and Eagle Dynamics are giving away. Watch as I struggle to get my nerves under control, because I tensed up too much, which is a direct cause of me oscillating and kissing the ground a couple of times.

My approach was to come in almost too fast as I entered the track. As soon as I went through the entry pylons, I would drop my collective to bleed off some airspeed and gain more control of the helicopter end throw it into a left turn around the first pylon while instantly pulling full collective to get some lateral movement to the left. Then drop the collective again and throw it into a right turn with full right pedal and cyclic and again pull full collective to gain lateral movement. From there on I would trade my entry altitude for speed and get into the ground effect as much possible.

I tried a couple of rounds in the Apache last weekend. Great fun. I'm not sure if I can make it this year though. Are you participating?
