I've had my eyes on Virpil for a long time and play to upgrade my duel T16000Ms to Virpil hardware soon. You've just sold them to me even more. i have been searching youtube for a way to setup my virpil controls. to say this was the best video is an understatement. you have great speaking voice to start, and you had pictures of the controls to go with what you where assigning things to. the only thing i could not find, that may have been removed since this videos upload is the power triangles. i looked under every control and sub menu and i juts could not find the power triangles. everything else was good. I have the virpil control panel 3 since i mainly use it for flight sim (FS 2004) for prop pitch, and fuel mixture for twin props. but it was still real easy to to assign the controls you have fro control panel #2 to them. i put my landing gear toggle assigned to the same button the stick i use in flight sim and the mining laser power i put on my right hand fuel mixture lever on control panel #3.

My sentiments exactly. Just received notification that my CM3 HOTAS bundle along with CP 1 & 2 have finally been shipped. Can't wait to set it up for MSFS 2020/24 and Star Citizen!!

Thanks for this, I actually for the longest time was just using mouse plus keyboard because I was too lazy to think of a sane control scheme for star citizen after switching over from elite dangerous :D Very useful, especially since I use exactly this HOTAS, I just have the 2nd panel module too

I did add a few things, like I use the analogue sticks for the strafing instead of the trim, since I am used to that setup from ED, but otherwise it's extremely helpful, especially because of how CGI decided to name and sort the functions in the settings.... and how you can't even search for things, like you can in DCS

Awesome video, but I just want to say..thank you, thank you thank you! As you might remember I picked up a Control Panel #1 and foot pedals to go along with my two alpha prime sticks. And yes it’s all Virpil but in the middle of relocating so haven’t set anything up yet since 3.23 dropped. This video gave me great ideas of how I will setup mine once I rebuild my game room setup in about a month or so… Cheers Farrister!! 🙏🏾

This is my exact hardware setup except I use track IR instead of Tobi. The only thing I really have to question is why you would not put the strafing on the throttle analog ministick. I put the speed limiter on the throttle flaps stick, but I can see why you went with mining power. I really like what you did with the power triangle, I might try that as well. The other big difference on my setup is my throttle has an indent and covers forward and reverse thrust and my stick pinky analog input is set to space break instead of reverse thrust. I might try it your way and see how it feels. I might change the landing handle control to somehow work with QT mode to feel more impactful =) I love this hardware, and I hope you do too. I also picked up their desk mounts and they are nice and convenient. They clamp on and off and bare the weight and force perfectly. It only takes a few min to un simulator my desk.

Virpil constellation alpha primes were a game changer for me! I went with HOSAS + pedals. Ultimate control and immersion ! Worth every penny!

Love my Virpil kit for SC but so many key binds. :D I can hardly wait for the day they polish the options system. I hope they give us a binding page like in Microsoft Flight Sim, that one is a joy to use. I wiped my bindings for 2.23, figured enough had changed to warrant a rethink of everything. Still not happy with my new layout might use a few of your ideas. :)

Nice overview. I feel like Star Citizen really could do with a 'modifier' button like DCS has. While holding 1 button on the HOTAS you get a 2nd function for the buttons on it. Especially using something budget like a T16000M with limited button options it is a great help!

I really like how you show things step by step with clear path. But do you know how to set those flap switches T1 T2 T3 T4? SC can only detect switching up but not switching down.

@@Farrister True, but if CIG is going for perfection for when they get to the 1.0 release, it would seem like a natural step. For example a Drake ship would have HOTAS, a Mirai ship would have a HOSAS, and anything from Crusader would have a HOTAY (Hands on Throttle and Yoke). Though it absolutely shouldn't be a requirement, but more like an option encouraged to players through this game. Release Pyro and at least four other systems then we'll call that. For me though my setup is simple. Cargo, combat, and racing (though I rarely do that). Haven't gotten the full setup yet since money is tight in America. @Lucasi_F

​@@Farristerin chasing 'realism', they've already made it overly complicated and I can see it unfortunately being daunting and turning new players off, which is not what anyone wants. I'm now trying to pick new hardware that can be used for both MSFS and SC, but it's not easy. Obviously HOSAS would be the best for SC dogfighting, but not for flight sims. Currently have a VKB stick, rudder pedals, and use a xbox controller for on foot, just can't decide on purchasing another vkb stick or a vkb stecs throttle, but it is costly to get it wrong.

I'm using a HOTAS setup as well, but I'm struggling with decoupled mode. If my throttle is moved forward any amount, I can't really consider it decopuled mode, because i've told the ship to accelerate. As a result the ship does not really behave like a decoupled ship, ever.
