I finally figured out how this bale unroller is supposed to work. 🙄 And, from a non-farming, 75 year old woman, that’s a huge compliment! You’ve drawn me into this design and build project completely. I look forward to every new video and seeing the first unfurling.

Tylerisms You knw you are going to have a busy day when you leave the house with a list. One by itself does do you any good. Would it work any better? No. But it would sure look good. Better to have a guard and not need it than to not have one and need it.
@davidcopling144211 күн бұрын
Enjoyed the build sir. We made one several years ago and still use it every winter. One thing we added to ours that most don't have, is a guard where our hoses mount to the cylinder. Ours is a 3 inch piece of angle iron, think of it like a bumper. You don't always spike it exactly in the center, and the bale can hit your connections pretty hard. Just our thoughts. Thanks

Tyler the annular cutter cuts the hole true to size, where as a twist drill bit will cut 15 to 25 thousands oversize, you can run a die grinder in the hole to get relief.

Also should be lubed and cooled with a water base liquid. Water, dawn and lard work well. Also, don't jack the drill lever up and down,load the drill motor and keep the load constant till it's done.

I really liked this video FT. I had been wondering how the bale unroller project was going? Also, glad to see continued work on the loading chute. I think your decision to keep Littles separate was spot on. He looks frail and forlorn. I believe you are right if he was in the herd he was going to get bullied, and in worse condition. Thanks for sharing, and vicariously enjoy life on FTR.

From a old retired industrial maintenance tech. Take a drill and put a dimple through the bearing screw hole into the shaft. It will help the shaft from slipping through the bearings. Just a old trick.

I would consider swapping the spike assemblies, because as the triangle tooth sections sit, the angled side may allow the bale to roll on the spike, instead of at the bearing - kind of like a sprag clutch. If they were swapped, the flat side of the triangle will dig into the bale and force it to roll at the bearing. It's possible that it might not make a difference - only one way to find out: test it! It's a great looking implement.

Hey Tyler, you’ve built a work of art with this bailing roller. It’s a beautiful thing that you’ve done and I’m sure it’s gonna work great on the back of your tractor. Just asking a question have you’ve ever seen a Greg Judy bailing roller. you could of built it for a lot less and you can also use your 4 x 4 to unroll bails, which would save you diesel on your tractor use. Not to shoot you down, but it would’ve made your life a lot easier and cheaper to build. Can’t wait to see how it works. I’m sure it’s gonna work great. Keep up the great work.

Honnestly I think you made that bail unroller alot more complicated than it needed to be..... but with your version you can pick up a bail without getting out of the tractor , pounding in rods or cranking a winch to get it off the ground..... so feeding the cows will be a 5 minute job and that alone makes it a wise move ! my hats off to you Tyler ! that thing will never break and that is what ya want !.... I vote for BRIGHT RED PAINT !!!!

Those half covers on the grease fittings are perfect how you mounted them, they should still protect from a strike whilst moving forward or backwards, whilst giving excellent protection when you are putting it down.

The weather is so nice there! We are expecting 8” of snow with high winds between today and tomorrow. It’s just starting now. I have a QUESTION: It’s about the calf. I was wondering how is the calf doing all by himself. As you’ve mentioned in the past that cows don’t like to be alone. So I how is that effecting him or maybe it’s not? Making the bail roller is very interesting. Thanks for taking us along. Looking toward to seeing it in use.

Hi Tyler that little calf he is so darn cute will you give him some other cows for company? You certainly. Know how to put your ideas to become reality and work for you,when do you get your next batch of chicken’s and pigs?here in Ontario we are getting severe cold minus 21 below zero , I guess our Ontario farmers have their cows in their barns. We have had more snow this year,it’s good for the farmers to put more moisture in the ground Take care from Ontario🇨🇦
@stephaniewilson395513 күн бұрын
Tyler has already said that he keeps the calf separate because the other cows bully him and he does not get enough to eat. The calf certainly seems to be making up for lost time on the feeding.

Old timers learned that cattle would load into a trailer easier if the very end of the shoot ran along a building or something taller on one side. The building(s) also would reinforce the shoot at the trailer where cattle tend to bunch up. You can extend the shoot, but u need to make it a light at the end of the tunnel. Too dark and cattle won't go into it. To regular fence with light coming through and cattle tend to want to jump the fence vs enter the trailer. We found the best option was to run a bottom board, but skip a board up (so light comes through to the ground. Then cover the rest of the shoot fence with plywood so that cattle can't really look anywhere but the ground (light) and the light coming from the trailer.

Ummm " Light at the end of the tunnel " ? Best wishes from England UK 🇬🇧 💙
@GrantTravels2313 күн бұрын
@caroledwards3465 if cattle do not see where they can walk, they will not go there. This is why cattle guards work so well in replacing gates. The same concept applies to a loading shoot. If they cannot see where they are stepping, they will fight u on going in it
