Do yourself a favor and watch this entire documentary. This is a gem. How a loneley, eccentric nanny had the talent to make the most beautiful photographs and gave a perfect view of the time in wich she lived. She lived through her Brownie and used her job as a nanny basically to roam the steets and the alleys o New York and made these gorgeous photographs by sheer intuition. This is a great documentary!

The problem with displaying her wonderful art is she didn't develop or print her much of her work. Both stages represent a significant portion of the finished work. An Ansel Adams negative won't give an Ansel print unless he does it, not even close. Vivian must have appeared so unthreatening she was almost invisible on the street. She was like Ralph Ellison.

I think for her, it was more about the hunt. Also, she didn't have assistants like Ansel, nor the time or money. She's one of the all-time great street photogs. No doubt.
