The Vizio M-Elevate Soundbar Almost Hits the Right Notes

I just bought these a few weeks ago from Best Buy; an open box for $388.00. I was completely blown away at the sound quality. I felt like I was at a movie theater! Super clear sound, thunderous bass, and I just love how the Atmos speakers eject automatically when watching Dolby Atmos content.

2:12 - 2:59 what??? Seamlessly went from saying one thing to directly contradicting yourself in 2 seconds? Now I'm even more confused about which to get than I was before watching the video. "Why would you pay more for "X" over "Y"? Well because X is better for "abc" reasons" The next second - "I compared the cheaper "Y" to the more expensive "X" and "Y" sounded better"

In the video they also very casually said “it doesn’t work like the original elevate” and implied the side lights popping out are just for show. This is incorrect. The side speakers do rotate like the original elevate, same mechanism that drives out the LEDs drives the speakers. This comment combined with the summation that the 5.1.2 M system sounded better, despite it being less powerful and having worse drivers, leads me to believe they used it improperly, either not elevating the speakers when using atmos, or not caring to return the speakers to lowered position when playing music/traditional audio.

I agree. This review is trash. Not only does he contradict himself towards the end exactly as you stated, but he also said the subwoofer in the newer m-series elevate can go much lower than the one in the 512a-H6. Well, not true according to Vizio's own website. There, it states they both have the exact same frequency range. Like you, this review didn't help me at all, and I came away even more confused. CNET, get rid of this guy, or find a better use for him besides reviewing soundbars.

Bought this a few days ago on open box from Best Buy for $409. To say I’m impressed at the quality for the price is an understatement! It sounds amazing in my small-medium sized living room. It’s paired with my Samsung S95B and they work perfectly together. No issues so far. That being said, I would not have purchased this for the $599.99 price tag for brand new. The $409 open box price was perfect for me and what I wanted to spend for my needs. I would definitely recommend this, especially if you can find an open box!

I don't know why most of the soundbar manufacturer doesn't add more than 1 HDMI input with HDR 10, HDR 10+, and Dolby Vision passthrough. I have an old one from Sony HT-NT5 that came with 3 HDMI-IN. All supports the 4K 60Hz HDR passthrough. But it's missing on some of the newer formats. I'm planning on replacing it a new one that has just a soundbar and subwoofer. But most of them only comes with 1 HDMI out and 1 HDMI-in.

I have an issue with the Atmos not being detected even when I have Atmos content playing. It doesn't work for streaming or music platforms. It does work when using the Dolby access app or when playing video games. Anyone know what the issue might be?

I'm trying to figure out if I can use it to HDMI switch so I can hear dtsx from my DVD player to the elevate soundbar because I have a LG C1. If I plug the Earc to my C1 and then one of the other parts to my hbox series x and the other port to my 4k Blu-ray player will I be able to send dtsx to the soundbar for the Blu-ray player and watch it on my TV?

I just got this and I am having a problem where the bar is 2-3in longer than the middle of the legs of my 55in Sony X900H and doesn't have space to sit on the tv stand. Can anyone PLEASE recommend a sound bar mount that would sit on the bottom to clear the legs of the tv? Otherwise , an overhead mount ? PLEASE HELP ! THANK YOU 🙏🏻

Checked all my settings repeatedly (both TV and sound bar) and cannot get this thing to connect to eARC. Input search indicated only ARC connection. TV is Sony A80K and eARC is enabled in settings. Does anyone know how to get this thing to connect to eARC (LED color magenta) and not ARC (LED color green).

I just bought this yesterday and it sounds amazing! I upgraded from a 3 year old standard 5.1 Vizio sound bar to this and wow it’s sounds amazing! The clarity at all volumes is astounding! And the surround sound/Dolby at is effects are so good!

How did you set it up? I have mine running through the eARC out of my TV and into the eARC input in the sound bar. For some reason watching Netflix or anything with atmos, the rotating speakers do not engage. It's not picking up the signal. Any help would be appreciated.

@Efra X3 actually that's not accurate. There is an automatic option that once it senses the Atmos signal, they pop out automatically. If they're not popping out then atmos isn't detected. That's the issue I'm having. How do you have your connections? I have mine coming out of my TV using HDMI eARC and into the eARC in the soundbar.

@Efra X3 hey buddy, I just figured out how to make mine work automatically. On your tvs sound setting look for an option that says Pass-through. That will automatically engage the sound bar (as long as the Height speakers are set to automatic). If they do not come out automatically then you're not getting Dolby Atmos. You can do it manually as you mentioned but the actual audio will not be Atmos. You can confirm this by holding down the center button for a few seconds. It will bring up a play pause option, hold it down a few seconds and it'll tell you the input and what signal is coming through. If it doesn't say Atmos then the retractable speakers will not engage. You shouldn't have to do anything manually. Hope this helps buddy.

Just preordered the M213ad-K8, 2023 Model Vizio budget soundbar that's out next week on a preorder sale for $160. I hope it's impressive for that low price range.i know it won't be Elevate impressive.please review it,if you can get it August 3rd 2022 when it comes out

@@J.J.Stokes It's been great no regrets. I would only buy it on sale. Whatever their top tier is on sale is a good deal. CES is coming up so maybe wait a little to see whats new which will also bring sales. I'm also paired with a 55' oled CX. Really great combo in my opinion.

I just bought the new 2022 elevate but I’m considering returning and getting the 2020 elevate due to the fact that the 2020 version has a 8’ subwoofer and the 2022 one only has a 6’ Also the 2020 version has has up firing speakers in the 2 rear surround speakers where as the 2022 version only has forward firing in the 2 rears. I like the look of the new version better but I may return cause it seems the 2020 version is still a better pick

Probably not. No reason a soundbar would need it, They expect any 2.1 devices to go directly to the TV, then pass the audio to this.

@@MichaelLargent if you have an LG C1 it won't pass through dtsx so buying the soundbar is kind of half useless that's why you would want 2.1 switching on this.

Let me start by saying I got the last version of this and it was great until one of the back speakers blew the company is unable to help you replace the tweeter in the speaker I find it amazing that they make the product but they don’t make replacement parts for it I’ve gone round and round and round with them and yet they are no help now and saying that it is an amazing system I would not playing music through it the rear speakers cannot handle it and like I said it’s unbelievable to me that I cannot get a replacement speaker from them to fix the problem customer service is extremely poor I ended up buying a speaker of Amazon small enough to fit in the spot and it works well but it’s too bad they would not help me once they get your money if something breaks you’re out a luck

People who say this sounds amazing blows my mind the highs are shrill the mid bass is empty the vocals sound like a tin can and the subwoofer is boomy or nothing at all my older Vizio sb series blow this pile of crap out of the water even after proper break in and calibration it’s trash should have researched forums would have found others who I could have learned this from before wasting my cash. Vizio went from making a decent product to a marketing company all those fancy pictures boxes fancy words terms on the website and packaging to disguise all the junk they sell not to mention all the documented issues with software and hardware they have still yet to address almost a decade laster such a joke!

i don't really get why people buy soundbars. in my opinion the best way to improve the sound quality is to buy a subwoofer and use it with tv speakers and if after that you want better sound then buy two floor standing speakers to use with the sub. :)

@@puntybrah basically i am just saying that I don't think the majority of people need the mids and tweeters from the soundbar to be satisfied with the sound. I think that majority of people just want more sub bass than their tv speakers have. I have tested this on my friends and most of my friends atleast didn't hear a big change from going from tv speakers+sub to soundbar+sub.
