To sing as soft as that and still have the control, blend,and sweetness is what acapella is all about

My mother was a Sweet Adelines director for many years and she taught all five of her children to sing barbershop harmony. Love this. Reminds me of my mom . I miss her a lot. Thank you.

The sad irony is that without war this song would have no meaning, it is the knowledge of the loss and pain that war causes that gives this song the emotion that it conveys.

This rendition has had a defining moment in my life--I know its a while ago, but the blending of voices and harmony and the great ranges in ages--Love the young men and their involvement--Whoever sings that high note at the end and hangs on to the end is exquisite--Just a real blessing in my life-wish I knew their names

at first I didn't understand why people thought Vocal Majority won over Masters of Harmony because I thought Masters Of Harmony had an amazing performance. but this... this was absolute perfection. I loved all of this performance. this will forever be one of my favorite renditions of the beautiful song.
@Paul_K_7 жыл бұрын
Certainly a beautiful performance here, but the VM just has too many people. It's simply impossible to lock properly with 160 voices singing at once. All choruses have that same challenge, but it becomes harder and harder to overcome the more singers you have.
@NickBrounoff7 жыл бұрын
While it is true that the more people you have the more difficult it is lock and sing perfectly, I think this is a pretty good example that it can be done. It takes a lot of hard work and practice.

I came to this because of listening to a Mike Rowe podcast. He was talking about how instrumental in his life his high school Barbershop Music teacher was to him. He talked of the Barbershop and the great people he has met in his life. I have always hated Barbershop groups. Not my cup of tea. After listening to this and seeing everyone in the group with such joy which comes out in their voices, I have changed my mind. Being from an Irish family I have never really been warm to Danny Boy. This has changed upon me listening to this brilliant rendition. I will be looking up and seeing where around NYC one can get in on this. As a closet singer its time to come out and join the band. Well done Vocal Majority, Very well done.

Man, it's been awhile since I've seen these guys. I still remember being invited to join the Vocal Majority after I graduated high school, but I turned them down. One of our teachers was actually a vocal majority member, Steve DeCrow. Awesome dude, super talented. I at least got to be apart of Harmony Explosion for a couple years at the Texas Women's University. That was fun as heck.

Danny Boy is a favorite of mine. I listen to every version of it I can find. Frank Patterson tops my list of renditions of Danny Boy by a male, and Celtic Woman had been at the top of my list for females. But I bumped them from the top spot in favor of a singer who has sang Danny Boy only once. That's correct, only once, she had never performed it, before the day she recorded it, and has never performed it since that day. It was recorded as 1 of 19 songs to be considered for a then upcoming album. 14 of the 19 songs made it onto the album. 18 of the 19 made it onto the Deluxe Edition of the album. Danny Boy was the only song out of the 19 that did not make it onto any album, nor any of her albums since then. But IMHO in the years to come her rendition of Danny Boy will be judged by future music scholars as A Masterpiece of the Ages. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqTCm5-bf6uFla8
