Yeah, it really is incredible how well his voice had held up. Another guy I would put into that category-is Paul McCartney. Although his voice is far from what it used to be, I actually think McCartney’s “vocal longevity” might be the most impressive when you take everything into consideration. He was using more than *4 Octaves* for Five Decades; Routinely hitting notes that were _WAY_ beyond his comfort zone, constantly hitting notes in the 5th Octave, every night, for decades. McCartney actually had one of the widest Vocal ranges of any Singer in the History of Popular Music. There are only like two or three “Popular Singers” that had wider Full Voice ranges than McCartney-(I think Prince and Axl Rose are the only ones). And the fact that he was able to keep that range for so long is absolutely dumbfounding. Either way, Paul McCartney _and_ Paul Rodgers are both among the Greatest Vocalists ever, and they’re both criminally underrated Vocalists.

Along with David Coverdale, Paul Rodgers is the best Bluesy Rock'N'roll singer ever, the great difference between the two is that Rodgers could still sing like hell after the 2000s

1:27 1:38 2:19 Rodgers kind of reminds me of John Fogerty, the way you don’t realize _just how great_ he is, until you actually try to Sing one of his Songs. You won’t even realize he’s hitting G4s-Bb4s, because of how effortless they sound. And it’s not like Rodgers or Fogerty had “super high Tenor voices”; They just had excellent technique. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYPFm5isnpt_rpo It’s the same with Paul McCartney, Bono (especially around 1982-87), Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, etc… They could make High notes sound absolutely effortless. They could make it sound like they were hitting D4s, when they were hitting Bb4s.

lol i forgot about The Law. I think i have that tape somewhere. anyways, in my opinion, the mixers/producers didn't do him any favors in the 70s/80s. he is definitely an elite rock vocalist if not the best, no denying that. maybe he needed a "gimmick" to get noticed more? i dunno
