I was lucky enough to attend The End at Paris in 2013. It was interesting to see lots of variety in the attendance: people in Miku cosplays and/or with Miku merch, old people you'd usually see at classical operas etc. The opera itself was a surreal and amazing experience!

@@snowshower4415 Long story short, a LOT of shit happened. Five of the Vsingers (Yanhe being the exception) were created as part of a fan design contest. But suddenly, the funds went missing, and it was discovered that the CEO (I think) of Shanghai Henian had spent all of the funds for these new Vocaloids… at a brothel. Thus, Yanhe was created to try to hold people over for a while, using the vocal samples that had been recorded for Moke, and there was understandably a lot of disagreement and contempt in the Chinese Vocaloid community because of it. Oh, and Qingxian’s original design for the aforementioned contest was horrible traced Touhou fanart, so her current design was almost entirely done from scratch. Her purple hair is pretty much the only consistent feature.

I'm surprised I knew about quite a lot of these. One thing that surprised me is that Piko and Miki were supposed to be counterparts, I've never realized the similarities in their designs until I saw them side by side like that! Also that anime in MMD looks like something I'd totally watch. Yeah I have a weird taste for amateurish projects, idk why. Oh and while this iceberg focuses more on development stuff and official spinoff products rather than specific producers, I've yet to see anyone talking about NashimotoP's livestreams. A few years ago, this producer (who happens to be one of my favorites) made some livestreams on his youtube channel, and the view was quite disturbing. There was a *huge* amount of trash bags piling up in the room, and he wasn't looking pretty good either. In the small bit I watched, he was playing a guitar while singing, but like, y'know how people sound when they try to sing while they're very stressed or having a breakdown? Well it sounded like that. Those livestreams have since been deleted, so I hope he is in a better condition now.

The song has heavy political undertones about restoring glory to Japan which........considering the fact Japan has invaded Korean numerous times, subjected their people to poor treatment, etc, the content of the song could be viewed as offensive to Koreans. Ohedo Julianight: I'm not really sure with this one, but the Project Diva wiki says its possible this one was removed due to Japanese cultural references....? I'm not really sure.

The character item's weren't strictly assigned based on color, Miku's leek was based on the original Levan Polka cover, that was based off a then meme called "leek spin" or "Loituma Girl". seeing as Miku was still such a new phenomenon around that time, the item stuck. This one i'm sure about, the others i'm fairly sure is because Len's hair looks like a banana, Rin was given a similar fruit item such as an Orange and a shared item due to Rin's name also used as a onomatopoeia for "WRRYYYYYYY" similar to a loud revving noise, I do believe it became popular after an animated video of Tako Luka speaking english to everyone and proceeding to say, "road roller" as everyone else could only respond, "roda rora". Luka's was due to a famous artist's depiction of how Luka's hair reminded him of an Octopus, "Tako" meaning Ocotpus in Japanese; hence Tako Luka. So far as I know, Gumi is the only one based on color alone.

Their names have a theme, but it doesn't mean you have to interpret this theme litteraly. The names of Vocaloids are like poetic allegories, in some ways. "Hatsune Miku" means first sound of the future, but it doesn't mean that Miku is canonically a MP3 file sent from the future. It's a pretty way of describing her and the Vocaloid technology. Same for "Megurine Luka", it means something like "spiraling sound who spreads its scent", but this doesn't make Luka some kind of super smelly ballerina who spin all day long, you know. And so, finally, same for the Kagamines: the idea of a mirror is playing on their similarities as people, the "left" and "right" giving the idea that they have a special link, like the ying and yang, but it doesn't mean that they litteraly have to be the reflection of each other if you hold a mirror in a certain way. (+ The idea of them being litteraly mirror images is already going against the free interpretations from fans, making the twins headcanon the only other one who is kinda fitting with this idea.) I don't even know where this idea of them being "ABSOLUTELY" mirror images is coming from, tbh... ? I just see people saying it, and other people repeating it, but I don't see actual sources for that, just people who read their names waaay too much but only for them, for some reasons. Beware of the possible false informations, my friends.

Now I’ll respect an interpretation that an artist uses for their song in particular. But if you asked in a broad sense- that’s what I’m saying. C'était un pari trop risqué: promouvoir à fond un produit pour finalement développer un resultat bof, ça devait arriver que ça se finisse un peu oublié >< ... Un peu était pas mal, mais de là à lui faire un concert offi après quelques années seulement et des albums avec une voix presque inutilisable c'était un peu trop pour la fraichement créée Alys. De souvenir ils avaient pas dit qu'ils ne voulaient pas la mettre en vocaloid car elle serait "une énième vocaloid qu'on va vite oublier" ? Another mobile Vocaloid game is Doki Doki Sweets Girlfriend that features Tohoku Zunko and her other promotional characters. There's also a full length anime episode with the same characters. Kinda crazy how much promotion she got for how underrated she is.
