We need to cultivate and encourage talented individuals like her. In this generation of poster boys and girls we've lost an essential grasp on music in its pure state. You have to now the story. She broke with her mom and livednin the streets since she was 13. So she sang on the streets and developed that dept soul voice. Then she was fostered by those people who are friends of her mom and they help her. So its hard to get a voice like that because it needs pain in the process...

Leo De Stino Comment overly ignorant. There is something called "composition". No point you have an amazing voice if you can't compose a good song. Amy, Beyonce, Madonna, Adele and another few hundred personalities they not have just amazing voices, but plus a rare talent that make them manage to sing their own creations without live like Karise, all life doing cover and imitating celebrity voices without being authentic. Yes, Karise is really good, for a cover singer.

Almost 2021 - ten years down the track - and this is STILL the single best vocal performance I have ever heard. And I've heard some. The effortless blending and switching of pitch and timbre, the arrangement - which sorry to say but even in 30s I think is better than James Brown's and I mean that is really saying something because I feel it's one of his best tracks - and Karise's 'at ease' stage presence is one of the most powerful vocal deliveries you'll ever hear. On the last note, I swear to god, when she moves the mic away from her mouth, the ambient mics are resonating and still picking up the power of her voice even though she's not singing into the microphone. Nearly ten years on... That's talent, people. THAT is talent.

I remember watching this for the first time sitting on the floor in the lounge room with all my family around me and getting goosebumps listening to her voice. Now, seven years later she still brings tears to my eyes and sends shivers down my spine.

Where is she?! She should be as famous as Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion etc. I'm not even kidding. "Singers" today are... Well, not good. _I personally value more real singing skills than women jumping around half naked._ _You can be a good singer and performer at the same time._ _And Karise is, definitely._ It's absolutely great to hear that she is doing what she enjoys.

The "singers" today are not real singers, they are performers. They use very reveling "dresses" to distract the audience wile the back up singers do all the singing.

Search her name. She has a few songs up with her band. The sound they created for her was awful (a kind of soul/pop) and her album didn't sell so they dropped her. She's rebuilding her career with a more bluesy country rock sound which fits her voice a lot better.
