The Voice Teens Philippines Knockout Round: Brandon vs Shell vs Mica

The Voice Teens is a Philippine reality singing television competition for teens that airs on ABS-CBN. It is based on the Dutch reality singing competition of the same name. The coaches of the show is composed of Lea Salonga, Bamboo Mañalac, Sarah Geronimo and Sharon Cuneta.
This is the third version of The Voice franchise, after The Voice of the Philippines and The Voice Kids; this is also the second The Voice Teens franchise in the world and the first in Asia.

I think, kung si coach Lea lang ang papipilian, she will always choose Mica, because she has a purpose sa The Voice, and that's to revive and show the relevance of Classical music. And classical music is one of the hardest genres to sing and perfect. The challenge comes in when citizen voting starts, kasi, not a lot of people can appreciate the complexity of this genre, so many people will still opt to vote for the pop and ballad. Pero si Mica talaga inaabangan ko sa The Voice this season.

I can't help but be amused at the comments here. People, let's be real: 95% of The Voice contestants either sing pop, ballad, or rock. Bakit wala akong naririnig dito na nagsasabing 'nakakasawa na ang pop, ang rock, ibang genre naman, yada yada.' Nakakalungkot naman ito sa aming mga classical music fans na gustong makarinig ng ganito ring genre sa mainstream. Huwag niyo namang ipagkait sa amin ito kasi hindi niyo naman kami naririnig na nagsasabi ng 'Pwede mag opera naman si Ganito Ganyan kasi nakakaumay na ang birit/pop/reggae niya eh. Pa ulit-ulit lang.' Mica is Mica. Mission niyang ipakilala ang classical genre sa atin hanggang magsawa tayo dito at masanay na rin sa huli. 😂 So go Mica! Kulang pa yan. Tatlong kanta pa nga lang eh. Filipinos are not much into classical music, most of them are not familiar with this kind of genre that makes it less interesting to them. When they heard the high note they're amazed and listen to it until they are bored not knowing this type of genres difficulty, it needs discipline and vocal control along with the range

actually lea was rooting for a world class talent. Hindi biro kumanta ng Der holle rache ni Mozart. Lani misalucha flop sa kantang yan, Mica she nailed it. The voice doesn't mean pop or ballad lang ang kantahin, may reggae, me rock, me classical, me rap. the thing is "Lea wants a contestant na kaya niyang bagayan with her knowledge." all can do ballad, all can do pop, but only Mica do classical, the two don't. Try mo yang dalawa pakantahin ng Nella Fantasia, Nessun Dorma, Time to say Goodbye, at Flower duet ni Lakme baka mamaga lalamunan nila.

I get that some people may be tired of hearing Mica sing opera, and want her to try something else. But for me, its still refreshing, since she is the ONLY contestant who sings opera... everyone else sings in the same way, talented kids of course, but I would rather have one different and consistent contestant to listen to, rather than listen to all of them sing to really popular pop songs, or hit karaoke singles. I love musicals, i've seen a lot which is maybe why I'm a fan of mica, but, if people want her to try different song genres because their tired of her operatic choices, then I would also like to see other contestants try a different genre as well, not just pop, not just ballad..: Singing opera means you have the versatility to switch your style because of the discipline you have in order to sing opera. So i still think mica should continue singing opera to bring something new and fresh!

I really like opera, and hearing Mica sticks to her own genre is good, palagi nalang akong nakakarinig ng birit and common voices sa PH. Mica is such a rare catch kaya mahirap mabitawan 'yan, andaming nag sasabing mag iba sana daw sya ng genre blah blah... but for me I'd like her to stick to her own genre kasi mas gagaling pa 'yan like Diana singer of queen of the night. umalis mga taong hilig nalang palagi sa pop at biritan.

With a lot questioning the versatility of Mica, how come almost no one points out that other competitors are also sticking to their own genres and for me, there is nothing wrong with it. Stick to where you're good at especially since this is not the Live Shows yet. Who knows what Mica could bring when it comes to the Live Shows. About coach Lea's so-called 'favoritism', she wouldn't make it that far in the music industry if she wasn't professional in every decision she makes. This competition is supposed to be centered on the Teens, not the Coaches.

What I like about Mica's voice is its uniqueness, consistency, and overall control. Brandon, on the one hand, has a solid, engaging and an entertaining voice. And about Shell's, her voice can make a connection with respect to emotion and a kind of narrating a story lying behind the song. They're all excellent singers in their own genre and style.

let's face it majority of people in the world today don't like classical or opera songs. in the phillippines classical or opera songs were popular during the days of ms. sylvia la torre, that's why she was popular then. now, she is 84 years old. there is a big similarity between ms sylvia and mica in the way they sing, maybe mica's parents or grandparents idolize ms la torre very much and maybe they oftentimes listen to ms la torre's songs especially the song titled "sa kabukiran" with mica's presence....

Brandon vs Shell vs Mica: Brandon has such a beautiful voice! ^_^ That voice quality from him was just superb performing "Panalangin". Shell singing "Somewhere Out There" sounds so beautiful and so soothing to the ears. There's something so UNIQUE about her voice that I really like!!! Her voice is so consistent since the beginning of the blind audition. Mica - She has that BROADWAY like voice. I think she'll go far even if she doesn't make it in the knockout round. This is a TOUGH battle for me to pick who I want since they're all good. My pick though when it comes to performance has to be Brandon. He was my favorite during the beginning of the knockout round.

People in this country are so biased. Can't u at least appreciate other genres? Mica's isnt that easy as u thought it to be. She is versatile because during blinds audition, she sang something different and still nailed it... for those other singers, would u think that they can do opera? Come to think of it. There's more to classical music than we all know. In abroad, hearing this kind of music will spend u thousands/millions and only royalties can afford. Mica's voice, being a Filipina ; we should be proud to have her. She has a great talent and not everyone can possess this kind of voice. Go mica!

Mica is my only bet since audition..thanks God she got the spot in the Grand Finals even not the Champion but deserved to be there.I am proud of her as the first Voice Teens Opera Singer Grand Finalist,3rd Placer! I maybe not an avid fan of classical music but in my opinion Mica was a great singer. She's showing not only Filipino to people but also to the world that not only Ms. Lea and Gerphil can do classical. I do understand that on this time we're use to here those common pop and classical music is new to our ears. I hate it when I saw Mica and Brandon together in the knockouts. Rooting for both of them. sana hindi na lang sila pinagsama 😢 This was Brandon's best performance and I would say he surpassed Mica on this round..

The first time I heard Mica's first performance nung Blinds I know she'll go all the way to the Live Perfomances, because it's going to be up to the coaches to choose whom they want. I believe Mica can sing other genres as her voice has a lot of potential and she had shown in snippets like when Sarah ask her to sing a different genre she sung a part of "Starting Over Again" and a short Beyonce during the battles. But, let's be clear here, it is not entirely her choice on what she is going to sing, it is always being approved. There is a coach for a reason, so whatever Lea wants her to do and try and sing and clean in her voice she'll must do it. It's up to Lea if she wants Mica to show versatility as people (who likes pop) suggested - if gusto ni Lea to showcase her as an opera singer then that's it. But for a classic junkie like me, I'm gonna go with whatever she does and hope that she will prove her worth.

I just want to add this. If I remember it right, the final 3 get to sing 3 songs in the live rounds (a duet with their coach or another singer, a song with their fellow teammates, and a solo. I would love Mica to sing an opera or broadway with Coach Lea, then a blend of modern-classical song with her teammates, and finally an opera as her solo. I would love Mica sing Habanera or Madame Butterfly! La Traviata "Brindisi" (The Drinking Song) would definitely be a delight to hear and watch! I wonder who can sing it with Mica. Is Leo Valdez still singing? I can't wait for the live shows! However, I know that Coach Lea will definitely pick very good songs for her 3 teens. Her teens have different voice quality and skills and I am pretty sure they will all perform their best! The same goes with Camp Kawayan. Oh dear, this season is really the best! I just love it! For me, the team of Coach Lea and Coach Bamboo are the best. Although, I still have to wait for Team Sharon's Christy. And Team Sarah's Andrea, Nisha, and Ivan.

Ofcourse pipiliin ni Coach Lea si Mica. She is consistent sa performances niya. Just a feeling pero I think na gusto niyo si Brandon kasi ang surprising ng performance niya. Sobrang galing compared sa past performances. It's the overwhelming change na nagpa Wow satin kay Brandon. And I think some of you don't like Mica dahil nasawa na kayo sa kanya, pero I see kasi yung Queen of the Night niya pa rin yung best did not get any better pero kahit nagdodown slope yung performances niya she still has an exemplary voice compared sa others.

A bit disappointed with Mica. This is one of my favorite song from the Phantom of the Opera. She missed the first note. Over all performance could have been better. The nerves got into her. Still glad she made it though coz I want to see what else she can do.

Mica admiitted during her interview after rehearsal that she was not happy bec.she had something else to improved. There's no time at all, that same day is the performance. I felt her it's not easy to sing opera song but still she made it!..keep your feet on the ground Mica,,God will prosper you!

Why not try to ask the other kids to sing opera while mica sings pop, rock and rnb? S tingin niyo ndi kaya ni mica? Napakita niya nung blinds na kaya niya kumanta ng pop, kahit nung battle rounds, this knockouts means live battles, now coaches let them be in their comfort zone, and mica chose to be in hers, ano problema niyo ngaun?
