For those taking issue with mixes of the the new album's tracking, beyond the singles they releases months ago, the care and consideration put into the filler tracks for the album is noteworthy at worst. Leaving studio banter in and not using booths is bold and raw, and should not be ignored. Putting an lp out 80% one takes is thelonious level and the integrity behind that should be applauded and critiqued by artistic approach and judged objectively. Obviously given the overall theme and message, it makes sense that this was the delivery- a work not overproduced and sugarcoated for the servient masses. No, this is jazz/art/truth in its purest form. It is good timing, they have been due for an etudes release, fans have become too comfortable and it is time for all of us to grow.

the vocoder was off-putting to me too at first but i've come to view it as another instrument in the song. maybe not a very good instrument, but still, it makes it more tolerable to listen to by seeing it that way. as a result i've started really enjoying it on subsequent listens. but also the outro is really good with (heartbreaking imo) lyrics that are actually coherent. i mean i like the rest of the song's lyrics but that last part is AGONIZING in a good way

It’s “the adults are talking” pt 2, the chorus has the same chord progression and syncopated drum beat, but I might like this version, pt 2, better. It’s more moving. The atmosphere and vibe are so melancholic, it gets you so in your feelings, you feel alive. I haven’t liked sad songs like this since I was a teenager lol.

hear me out: this song is partly about aaron bushnell's self-immolation the fact that JC can be so affected by that event (he mentioned it on his ig & vaguely his political leanings) & put pen to paper to write so brilliantly he's our gen's Bob Dylan. "burst into flames like autumn leaf death rainbow eruption bloom.." [the skin how it bubbles when burned:( ] "traitor in a sailor's cap..i dont wanna say anything is wrong-not another word..." cuz he's yelled at in his comments if he doesnt agree w/ 1 side or the other fkg poetic
