Another tired comment here to say River Runs Red is an absolutely incredible album. But I’ll be controversial and say that they actually peaked with Ugly.

Ugly is so under rated....but even raise you to Broken Valley. It was different, but great. Hell, the newer A place where there's no pain is great and has RRR feeling.

@@geeveisaacs2476 I really don't like how Keith's voice changed after Ugly. I really wanted to like Broken Valley, but I just don't. There's something missing. Maybe it's Sal? Maybe it's their spent youth? I dunno. I have the same issue with Soul Searching Sun. Bar a few songs, it is a very forgettable album.

@@KelticKabukiGirl I made it far enough to be happy. Played in a few local bands and switched to drums at age 28, ended up getting offered a spot playing drums on a national tour but my family was getting sick by that time so I had to decline the offer. O.O They have a new drummer!?!? I got to see them in Manchester, NH in the mid-2000s…like a decade after I started listening. I was so over the moon, but I’m extremely loud and stopped the show for a moment so Mina could tell me I was loud. I apologized. She thanked me. I desperately wanted to hug her and thank her for existing. These folks and her voice saved my life time and time and time again as a teen. I am glad I got to leave with a largely memorable moment. I’m not much of a fangirl, but I mean…I’ve been listening to them since I was 14 or so, so I absolutely fangirl for LoA. Mina is just a stellar human. Over the years, I’ve kept an eye on her, had a couple of exchanges with her, and I’ve been impressed by her at every pass.

Sal is and has been my favorite drummer. The first time I heard his style and creativity especially the subtle differences from Type O’s SDAH to OOTF is awesome and that breakdown in TOO LATE FROZEN blew my mind as a 15 year old drummer. I tabbed out all his beats on notebook paper and studied them. Then when I heard how he augmented the songs of LOA. It really opened my eyes to songwriting.

We also gigged with Dillinger Escape Plan without a name, then with a name and the self-titled EP, then The Show they were scouted to Relapse. Took Unearth on their first mini-tour, Hellfest, Boston Metalfest99, and Almost signed to Eulogy with Unearth but Skinhead Riots killed the local scene and Band. I was the guitarist and composer of Since the Fall (97-2000)from Reading PA. Then the Band Duke Hellington(2001-2005), which was oddly ahead of its time.

No idea what to say in a comment about LOA. I've been privileged enough to call my favoritest band of all time friends, loved everything they've put out as a band and in solo projects, agonized over their break-ups, celebrated their returns, drove through a snowstorm to their first reunion show in NYC in 2003, had a painting of their logo commissioned, then the same logo inked on my shoulder, been carried by their songs through bad times, and to this day, it's one of the only sounds on the planet that reliably gives me goosebumps every single time i listen. i love them and i am infinitely grateful they exist. Still, no idea what to say in a comment about LOA.💗💗💗💗💗

Where I absolutely love their "river runs red" album from start to finish, it's definitely in my top 10 albums of all time. But other than a couple of songs here and there over the years I can't say that I’ve ever really go into any of their other albums. I can't really say why, even with some of their more recent albums where they went back to having more of a "river runs red" sound but they just didn't grab me even I was hoping they would. I can't think of another band that I would consider one of my all time favorites but when taking out that one album they're no longer even on the list.

In 83 at 14 wearing a biker hat like Rob Halford me brother in-law 13 yrs elder asked if I was gay. I was like WTF!!! Why would you ask that? He said that’s what the gay bikers from London accessorized with, along with the leather & spikes. I grabbed a Judas Priest album & said this is fuckin metal & im dating a hot blonde girl. So I put 2 & 2 together with lyrics & stage performances to realize the Metal God was gay. So fucking what!!! He’s a great artist whom I luv & respect 💯%. He’s not a predator nor is he pushing it on anyone. Luv is so much easier than hate.
@kchez5586
@kchez5586 8 ай бұрын
That's the key right there -"not pushing it on anyone". When I was 18, I worked for a company whose owner was bi and lived with 3 of the most flamboyant, stereotypical gay men you'd ever see. The shop was in the basement of their house, so I was around them alot. They knew I was straight and not once did they ever say or do anything that was crossing the line. Total respect on both sides. and smashed the stereotypes that I was brought up with. But the current LGBTQ agenda of cramming it down everyone throats at every turn has probably made more people intolerant than accepting. You see it with hyper religious people as well. I have my own beliefs and things that I support, but I'm not on a mission to convert people to my way of thinking because it's what works for me or tell them they're wrong because they don't see things through my eyes. Don't know why that's such a hard thing for some to grasp.

Sick Of It All, Snapcase and Life Of Agony brought me to Hardcore in 1994 after i was deep into Grunge. Saw them twice live in the 1990ies. Still listening to Hardcore after all those years. Last concert was Magnitude, next one is Knocked Loose. Only big love for Mina and the dudes.

Not charting? Not a problem! I can't count how many times I have seen this kick ass band but it was......excessive let's put it that way, LOL. Being from Jersey it was a gift every time they crossed the bridge and played here. Of course, I did my fair share of seeing them in the city whenever they played, which was a LOT, thankfully. Best of times, back in the 90's. SIGH!!! Thanks for the memories, LoA! You will forever hold a special place in my black heart 😘🤩😍💯💋💋💋💋💋

I saw them in 2005 with Mudvayne and American Head Charge. LOA was legitimately boo’d while performing. It was really weird to see/hear. That’s the one and only time I’ve ever heard a band boo’d.

I’ve seen it a couple times. This was common in the early 2000s. I wonder why they didn’t like life of agony? Usually I noticed in them days a band would get booed if they weren’t of the same cloth/similar sound as the main act, I.e puddle of mudd opening up for korn

I found Life of Agony circa 2015. River Runs Red was such a good album, I got a t-shirt for it. I listened to the others soon after. Caught myself wondering why the singer was the same but sounded 'different' on later albums. I found out why. The later albums are ok... I tried 'The Office' out a few months ago & noticed that song too. I gave the series a chance for 3 seasons, & it's not for me.

I got into got into LOA because I bought an album from Roadrunner Records and it came with the little catalog of other bands on the label and I was like what a cool name. This was the days of dial up modems, before Google and KZbin. So I said year I’ll spend the $11.99 and $3 shipping. It was a $15 gamble. But worth it.

I was worried at first, but you kept the He before the build-up to being out so, well done, This is my Deadname account actually, she and one other Trans Frontwoman are the only role models I have... Thank you for doing this. I knew I loved RRR in HS for a reason! You did well, You had to for the context of storytelling for those who didn't know and the timeline. I was nervous a couple times closer to her being out, but it was respectful and well done. I came out last June after an unrepressed memory from 25 years ago. I was out and in public in a week. At 45 and a Metal and Hardcore Singer/Guitarist, I knew I just had to fucking own it. I go by Dolores now. I grew up playing in the PAxHC scene and the New York Bands were big influences, River Runs Red connected with me decades before I came out and 7 years before I started to try. I actually used to Gig with Dillinger, UNearth, Madball, Overcast, Shadows Fall, etc,,, and my old band SInce the Fall was on Hellfest and Boston Metalfest 99. I could have never come out back then. By the way, Google Nex Benedict if you want to see how bad things are... you gained a Sub today Thank you - Dolores
