Here’s a link to the album where The von Trapps recorded Edelweiss with Charmain Carr (Liesl in the Sound of Music) pinkmartini.com/discography/dr...
The von Trapps are currently pursuing individual careers outside of music, but they continue to make special guest appearances with friends and artists such as Pink Martini.
This performance was shot in 2013. They were working on an album with Jack Hanna (who evidently is a 5 star yodeler) and they sang for our staff out of the goodness of their hearts. As you can see, this is breathtaking.
Thank You , von Trapps!

Once again, everyone needs to understand that these “kids“ showed up at the office where I work in Columbus Ohio, sang for our staff out of the goodness of their hearts…this was completely an impromptu performance. I work for a video production company…someone grabbed a camera and shot this. They were extremely humble and lovely people. I’m so happy people can watch this and be so touched by it. I have been contacted by the von Trapp great grandkids and they have provided a link in the description of this video about what they are doing. They are absolutely fine with this video being posted and are touched by all the great responses and feedback.

How Kanye's noise gets 50 billion views explains a lot. People do not understand what music is. They have migrated from greatness to mediocrity in just a few decades. This is what happens when you bring things to the lowest (un)common denominator. We've also been protecting the stupid for far too long and now we are surrounded by stupid.

I am moved to tears as I listen to these four singing to realize that but for their family’s bravery, they would not even exist. They are a representation of the beauty that can arise even from the most evil of circumstances and a light that shines from one of the darkest hours of human history. May we be reminded, once again, that we must always remember to do our best to live in peace and may we also remember the millions of other beautiful voices who have been silenced by war.

How beautiful and touching. When the Von Trapps made the courageous decision to risk their lives and leave everything behind to flee Nazi Germany they had no idea how it would turn out. It was sheer courage and grit to press forward by faith. It blesses me so much to see their great grandchildren happy and free in America over 7 decades later singing this beautiful song to honor their history. We should all be inspired to be this courageous.

Horrendous atrocities continue to this day all over the world due to the warmongering ways of men who are power hungry control freaks. They want to assume the right to rule so they can line their own pockets to build their wealth. Until these types of people are eliminated there is little hope for Humanity. 😱

For his last song Oscar Hammerstein created lyrics that sounded like an old Bavarian folk tune. Richard Rodgers wrote a beautiful folk melody for it and a classic was born. The Sound of Music forever attached Edelweiss to the Von Trapp family and I'm sure that most of the grandchildren and great grandchildren grew up singing it. It's quite obvious that these 4 cousins have put a lot of work into the harmonies. That being said, for an impromptu performance in an office setting this sounds amazing.

The Von Trapps are from Portland, Oregon. When they decided to bow out of public performances in 2016 (at least a couple of them were in college at the time) they did a “farewell” concert here. It was at a modest but popular concert venue, and was packed to the gills. Lovely evening, with four charming, self-effacing and extremely talented siblings. So glad I was able to attend. Hope they eventually return to performing. In the meantime, I’ll just have to keep listening to their 2014 “Dream a Little Dream” album they recorded with the group Pink Martini (another Portland treasure).

Only thing that we in Germany and they in Austria abolished royal titles by becoming republics. According to German and Austrian law the royal titles are bull and void. No one must call August his excellency, and the Freiherr is only part of the name. They get to keep their villas and castles, but have to pay taxes like everyone else. Unlike in the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and UK, where their respective royal families live off of taxes and do as they please with their appanage. In Germany and Austria it's called parasitic lifestyle.

Bavarian Wordsmith actually, at least in the UK, the royal family pays taxes, and all nobles who own their estates are expected to care and pay for them themselves, that's why so many are open to the public for viewing, so the family has the money for repair and maintenance. Plus the Royal and noble families bring in more money then the government spends on them, so they pay for themselves.

Dreadfully sad story though. I love the movie, and absolutely am always 'choked up' when I watch the Captain and Julie dance the Lailanee (Spelling???), stare into each others eyes, and realise they truly love each other.

My father's favorite movie was The Sound of Music and he always wanted to be able to go back to Austria one day. (He had been there while serving in the US army during WW2 and The Korean War) I still have a hard time hearing this song without tearing up since he passed away 16 years ago. What a wonderful gift from these amazing voices. God bless them.

That song seems soooo anoited by God when I first heard it I bawled like a baby .and my mom rushed in my room .(visiting Grandma in Yuma) I was about 32 and she could not believe I could be so worked up over a song ! She thought I hurt myself or something like that 😂subsequently. 3 more times I had the same reaction to that beautiful Melody .🎶❤️

Rest in Peace Christopher Plummer. It feels as though we've all lost a grandfather or relative. Christopher Plummer was an absolutely wonderful, honest man, gentleman and always showed what class, kindness and modesty were. He was professional, courageous, and simply was a timeless actor who inspired millions upon millions around the world to pursue their dreams and the arts. Few actors, actresses and people in general got and get the opportunity and chacncec to have careers with such longevity and impact. The Sound of Music has always had a very special place in my heart since I was very very little and it will forever be that way.

Dear von Trapp family, thank you for blessing us. Your heritage is so inspiring! Who doesn't love someone stong, faithful to God, and willing to sacrifice for freedom?
