imma tell this cuz this was my experience even tho no one asked. (they both called themselves r*tarded since they thought they needed mental health but for me they were just humble) i have dated twice, both different people, the first one was too good to be true, her fake name will be: Ami to briefly sum it, she was into everything i was into, though was not open minded at all in terms of movies, music, or videogame taste, i had to suck it up at first since all pros drown out the cons but then she turned out to be disrespectful, racist, ruthless, picky, noncaring, liar and unloyal towards me. Im not gonna try to look good in this cuz i did kinda seem addicted to her, tryna get close to her everyday and got this "matching vibe problem" (she told a friend of hers who talked to me that i dont match her vibe anymore and that all i cares about was sex, so i changed and tried my best, dont ever change for the sake of someone else) in the end i had to end it cuz i was blinded by love i couldnt see how bad she was in the relationship, she instantly got herself another boyfriend so. She was child minded. Next ones fake name is Naive: she was quite the opposite, met her and got to be her boyfriend in 2 days. she was very kind, no toxic shid, tried to make me get out of my head and supported me when i break down, she was really the most lovegiving/ healthiest relationship ive ever been in, nothing was wrong at all with her, she was really humble and understanding too, had a beautiful voice and aspect. everything was perfect, up until she had a personal problem that made her decide i was needed to be let go (it sounds suspicious but i still talk to her and she is going through this too) i learned alot from her i really felt like the problem was me but no, she just decided too soon and when i tried to come back she wasnt sure anymore, and tbh, me neither. I was deeply inlove with her i couldnt see (again) if i really know her or not, i knew her a bit, but that kinda makes me question to know if i wanna be with her or not. Both were an entire experience but now i think i shouldnt even try to have a third relationship, kinda stuck at this point, i dont really want to have a girlfriend because i dont want this to happen again. I happened on the chance to try, and while she was cute and really personable. She was…heavily religious and topics always lead back to it no matter what. Apart from that, it was a nice for the most part, she wasn’t all that experienced in games or tech in general. But all in all, not much different than trying to date Irl (good and the bad) but it’s more relaxed? And more on how each other behaves. But with the thing being it mainly long distance relationships.

Get to know this person you have fallen for. Experience new things together. Perhaps, you’ll end up falling even more in love with them. The best relationships I have had where ones that grew over time with someone I knew I could talk to and be myself with. That sounded kind of cheesy 😂. I don’t have time for dating now but who knows? I might try Vr dating in the future.

There's definitely a beauty to it I suppose, as well as problems. People who lack self confidence can be themselves, present themselves as the best of themselves, at the same time, it makes you think that a lot of these people wouldn't bat an eyelid to you if they knew you IRL. People tend to forget that there's a real soul, a real character, behind each of those avatars. VRChat brings out simultaneously the best and worst of society, because there's a disconnect to actions and consequence, and the freedom to be whatever you want to be.

Online relationships have existed since any form of chat rooms has existed. My parents met online, I met my current partner over discord, I see vrchat relationships as almost an evolution of that. VRC provides a way to connect with your LDR that feels more personal that only being able to call.

I have been in 3 VR Relationships and all of them ended because I showed true love and emotion, and it frightened them. I always jokingly say that everyone who plays VRC is broken in at least 1 way, and for a lot of people, it is emotionally. And that is ok, we are all here together like the island of misfit toys, so if it works for you, go for it; but it wasn’t for me, I push my comfort zone constantly and some people are not comfortable with that.

Loving the Content you're putting out, man. I've dated in VRC before. During lockdown, things were dicey socially, and everyone was looking for something to fill that social void. I've dated a few girls, but there seems to be a disconnect between Reality and Virtual Reality in a lot of peoples heads. A cognitive dissonance, where they can be all about you one minute, and the next it's like, they've found another shiny thing and your own personal feelings are forfeit in their eyes. That's the double edged sword, in that yes, you can meet anyone on VRC from any walk of life. But not everyone you'll encounter is well adjusted, or has a well calibrated sense of empathy. There's a degree of seperation between how you'd treat someone IRL, and how you treat someone in VRC for many, many people. That being said, I've shared my heart with people in other countries I never would have gotten to know. I've met the most supportive partners and friends that I've ever encountered, becaause everyone on the platform knows the sting of differing from societies norm in one way or another. VRC is an all inclusive social ecosystem. So have I been burned dating in VRC? Yes. Would I give up those experiences? Not a chance. VRC has helped me grow interpersonally, and fortify myself against social/emotional discomfort. This has directly translated to my real life. I'd caution people to maintain perspective, as when you're given a virtual Utopia of social validation, it's very easy to not want to leave, ever. That relates back to the addictive personality type, of which I am one. I've just started to shed that aspect of it and gain that perspective, but the things I'd learned about myself and the way I interact with people have been absolutely invaluable.

I've Played Vrchat since 2017 and I'm 40, and after playing Vrchat for 7 years I have come to Relate Vrchat to very much MySpace in many ways, there alot of creepos on the game & like MySpace & World of Warcraft, Ultimate Catfish especially with the Voice Changing Technology, you never actually know who people are, & what kind of person there in Real Life ! I go into Vrchat ever night after work knowing I have lover in real Life, and to always be on my Guard when I'm playing & Going from World to World ! I've dated a few times in VRC. Had two relationships and a lot more people shooting their shot with me. I gotta say, it can work out, it really can, but a lot of people on VRChat have no plans to do much in meatspace together, or they're just really bad with commitment, or they don't know how to handle feelings properly, and don't get me started on the amount of people who flirt with you just for ERP purposes. If you find an exception to all that, you can find some diamonds in the rough and have a very good love life on VRC but just... don't get your hopes _too_ high.

So, in short, it's the same as regular dating. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. It's funny that there's so much controversy over this. Even though tinder is the same thing, and they don't seem bothered by that. Some people live in rural areas (like myself) and social anxiety aside, going out is a whole ordeal because it takes me 40 mins to get to a bar or coffee shop. I'm too tired for that shit man. I'd rather roll the dice with one of the millions of people online, and if we like each other enough to meet in person then that's a bonus.

We have been going strong for 10 months now :D I'll be moving countries (EU) to live with him and finally have a good life :3 If you are LOOKING for a relationship in VRC, please stop- you won't meet any good people. A lot of them are there to have 'fun'. If you really just sit down with some of the people you've been interested in romantically, and actually get to know them from couple of different 'angles', you'll realise you are NOT attracted to them.. and that you're just looking for someone out of loneliness. When you cannot be happy whilst being single, you won't have a happy long term relationship.

Exactly, right now I'm in a VR relationship but I wasn't looking for it and neither was the other guy. We were on each others friends list for a while, met each other drunk a few times and had the same "Hold up, how are we friends again?" type of conversation a few times. Until one day, we just had an actual conversation while drinking after one of those interactions, we realized we had some interest in each other and he bluntly just went, "fuck it, I got a good feeling, let me take you out sometime. At least, as best I can in VR." (not word for word but the basic message is the same). I said fuck it, "let's roll the dice and see what happens". We're both very busy, goal oriented hustling types of people. So we actually aren't on much and need to plan to get on at the end of the week for a movie date or something like that. We've both been burned by the "broken" or "emotionally unstable" or worse, "poly" people in VRC, so we're both kinda tired and hesitant, so we took it slow. First three weeks of "talking" was us barely texting during the week while waiting for a date night on the weekend, after agreeing to date we continued as such but text more during the week now and if we see each other online we go say hello. We also don't ERP, and agreed to keep our relationship wholesome and SFW unless we meet up IRL. Too many people in VRC use it, not just relationships but the whole game, to ignore their IRL situation and shitty life and just, pretend like everything is good and distract themselves from reality. Luckily, I finally found a guy that's actually a great guy, and he's (so far at least) better than anyone I dated IRL. I feel that VRC dating, and all online dating for that matter, requires a tad more careful and cautious approach than IRL. As you said, "A lot of them are there to have 'fun'" and to make it even worse it's easy to lie and pretend to be better people on the game than they are IRL. So getting manipulated is also not unheard of, in fact its more common than people may think.

i feel like this is just sad, people chasing love in vr typically have serious issues in their life but they choose to become mindlessly obsessed over "love" instead for one reason or another. of course some cases turn out good, but most dont. they just end up worse than without it, and from the outside its particularly sad to watch because they ignore the outside world just for this because they see it as some sort of solution. i guess we are instructed to do that, but this isnt right wish these people focused on themselves more before anything like this

I met this one girl in March 2022 in this world called Black Cat. I had the mini cat avatar and she had it as well, so we vibed instantly the moment we saw eachother. We hung out every day, and a few days after hanging out, I took the initiative and asked her to become my gf and we became a couple. Well, the relationship only lasted for six days because of lack of communication(from both of our sides) and personal issues from her side. I wanted to show her my support, but she rejected that; so I just respected that and I disappeared from her circle since she blocked me. So the rest of March was hell for me mentally. I think they can work but there has to be plans outside VRchat for it to work long term there has to be a goal to work towards or they are bound to fail I've seen 90% of VR relationships fail because they were just VRchat relationships no plans outside VR no Plans to meet no plans to really do anything. I randomly met them like 9 months ago. They were mute. We interacted for several awkward weeks and they suddenly started to talk. I didn't meet my partner on VR, honestly, kind of weird to even remember but I technically met him on roblox. Met there, was in the same friend group for a bit, and then we started having late night talks, hours long calls, etc etc and then we became a couple. A couple months later, I get a VR Headset, we start using VRChat as a tool to feel closer to eachother, and it works. I think you can meet anyone anywhere, there's no limits anymore. It's just about needing the maturity and the responsibility to do so. If neither of us were mature or committed, we wouldn't still be together. I think if ur responsible with ur approach and expectations then it can work. I didn't believe in it, met a friend where we kinda slipped into relationship tropes, but vr is just a step. We get on discord webcam calls, so there's more sense of we are real people, then its visits (furry cons are huge for vr and online friends meeting and they happen all the time, so that helps), then if sparks continue work from there. It's different pros and cons from dating irl but it shouldnt be invalidated because its different when it can and has worked.

While I can see a lot of potential for sad misunderstandings and warped expectations, I don’t agree with the people who seem to take it as a given that a virtual relationship can only be said to have “worked out” if it leads to dating in-person. And it’s also possible not to care or need to know what the other person looks like IRL, which seems to be another common fixation here. Virtual life is its own kind of life with its own priorities and senses of self. It’s important that people have compatible expectations in a virtual relationship, but a relationship where you never meet or see each other can still be a very real and meaningful relationship, especially in the context of such a rich online community.

She confessed to me, while we were in a deep talk, and we went on with "only five more minutes" which turned out to the point that we needed to go to work XD So yeah, I traveled to her 2 times, met her Parents and the best thing is they all love me, they accepted me and took me in like their own son. And for the distance we have, we use VRchat to make this less worse than it is ^-^ But on the other hand, I lost friends and also one that was probably interested in me.. so yeah they badmouthed us, blocked us so we couldn't even talk about it... what's kinda sad but it is what it is now. If you lack the skills of succeeding in real life, VRChat is not gonna make it better. It can quickly become a crutch. Just as sex-dates can be a crutch if you are unable to hold an emotional / romantic relationship. If you got your sh*t together, then you can meet people any way you want, because then you know what is healthy to fall in love with. Fall in love with an avatar, and you are living a fantasy life. If you want to succeed, you need to fall in love with a person AND figure out how to have and continue a relationship with said person and the only works when this person is right there, otherwise your brain will fill in the blanks and you are living a fantasy...until the day that it falls apart, because RL is bound to have a word with you at some point. So meet people basically anywhere...but fall in love with them in the real world.
