Nice bike! (its a 2 cylinder). Nice overview of the Vulcan 1500!

Right a 2 cylinder. I have two 4 cyl Goldwings. I guess I was thinking if them. The 1500 engine is big enough to be a 4 cyl. Thanks for the comment.
@LeAnn573 жыл бұрын
You felt like it was running on 3 cylinders instead of 4???? That's a neat trick seeing as a Vulcan 1500 has only 2 cylinders.
@knightingalesaid3 жыл бұрын
You are right. It has 2 cylinders and 4 spark plug wires. I have a 4 cylinder Goldwing. One spark plug wire use to get wet and it would run rough until it dries out. That's what it reminded me of. Ride safe!

Have the same exact pipes on my '04 vulcan 1500 classic, and I can definitely agree with you that it's definitely louder, also got mine adjusted to where it has that panhead loping sound when it's idling. Love the color of yours, mines that hunter Green and creme white with matching colored harley police style hard bags.
@knightingalesaid3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I thought about the hard bags. They look nice. I like the color of yours. I have seen them before. This one has kind of a lope. Most people thinks it's a Harley. You have to adjust the jets with the Vance Hines. They are really nice bikes. They have a lot of torque. Take care and keep the shiny side up.
@jeremylemp26913 жыл бұрын
@@knightingalesaid yes they are, and thankfully when I bought the bike, the guy I bought it from already had the carbs adjusted to run without baffles. Next step on mine is getting and putting a fairing on mine, and you're not alone on that, my bike gets mistaken for a harley alot of the times too lol and same goes for you, rubber side down, shiny side up!!

It's a shame when you own something that you cherish and take it to service to a dealer mechanic and the bill is just less than $500 and $400 OF THAT BIIL IS PROBABLY Labor cost, and the mechanics attention to detail failed that is BAD. This is why many motorcyclists are doing their own maintenance and work on their bikes. Love you bike, Peace.

How do you adjust the idle on it?
@knightingalesaid3 жыл бұрын
It's real easy. At 14:51 on the video you will see the right side of the bike. Below the gas tank is that chrome round moon shape cover. At the 6 o'clock position of that cover. There is a plastic knob about a 1/2" below the round chrome cover. Just turn it to the right or left. That's it.

A friend of mine owns a 2003 Vulcan Classic 1500. It has a problem with the right rear cylinder overheating. The spark plug isn't white but it is not nearly as dark as the other three. The bike also has a bit of a problem with backfiring. Anybody else have these issues, or know how to correct them? Thanks in advance.
@knightingalesaid2 жыл бұрын
The back firing reminds me of a loose spark plug wire or a bad plug or plug wire. I think all of these are 2 cylinder engines. I think in this video I called mine a 4 cylinder. I was thinking of my GoldWing.

One problem I have been having that is not addressed by anyone I have found so is my VN 1500 lurches in first gear unless I immediately switch to 2nd.
@knightingalesaid3 жыл бұрын
I have never had that problem. It might be the clutch adjustment. A bad spark plug or wire can cause them to lurch in first gear. I had my bike serviced a while back. And the guy didn't put the plug wire on tight enough. It ran rough too mainly in 1st gear. I push the spark plug wires down and one popped into place. It ran fine then.
@southside19753 жыл бұрын
my vn 750 did that they drill hole in clutch basket to help if you engage the clutch in first few times before moving it goes right away they say it's lack of oil.

My 99 1500 classic with ten thousand miles on it stared a little bit of oil seepage from back side valve cover gasket, any advise
@knightingalesaid3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. It can cost 1200.00 to repair, unless you can do it yourself. This is the best advice I have found from a Vulcan forum. A fellow wrote: "Valve or rocker cover leaks seem to be pretty common on the 1500's. Both of mine leaked and the lesson there is do them both while you're at it. I have a '96 1500A so I don't know just how similar our bikes are, but if you follow the service manual instructions and label, bag, and photograph then it's pretty easy. You'll need a motorcycle jack [around $100 at harbor freight or sears] and a decent torque wrench. You don't actually have to completely remove the motor to get it done, but it'll be 99% out anyway. Be sure to use factory gaskets and sealant if you only want to do it once. Let us know how it goes and goodluck."

That is awesome. They are tough bikes. She may sound like a diesel engine, but that how Kawasaki bikes sound. Even the manual tells you not to worry about the metal clanking sounds. Keep up the good work on this project.

@@josephefreeman8347 I don't know what to tell you. If you get into head gaskets or pistons, it can cost you 1200.00. Unless you can repair it yourself. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a used engine from the salvage yard. You might check with the Vulcan 1500 forums. Good luck, friend.
