Bruce Springsteen himself recommended this on Sirius while hosting a special on driving songs.

One of the most underrated but brilliant bands ever . Simple guitar rock doesn't get more melodic

Around 1988 Robert Ray (co-writer) told me how much he loved New Order. If you listen, their influence is obvious.

Mark Zoltak That’s cool ... I’ve always been both a New Order and Vulgar Boatmen fan and I’ve always thought I could hear the influence. My friends thought I was nuts. But I can hear it in the continuous vamping, droning guitar parts as well as the frenetic bass being played like a lead guitar part. Like these New Order songs (and many more): kzbin.info/www/bejne/navRqaybgax0oJo kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZS6kIicbaypj9k I am validated at last!! 😁

Dear the Vulgar Boatmen, I'm not sure if you are aware of this but you have a cult following on the west coast of Australia thanks to the record that this came from. I live on the east coast now but I WOULD DRIVE 3000 MILES across this country to see you do this live in Perth. Absolutely amazing.

Excellent! Why this song hasn't made it to a film soundtrack yet is mystifying.

I used to see them 2-3 times a year between 1984-1989 in Gainesville - sometimes in bars or musical venues, sometimes at English or philosophy department parties.. One my friends was their drummer during that period of time. He also played with Bo Diddly who used to live in gville and would play in used car lots. Good times. I danced my ass off listening to them with a slew of folks, including bill from Hyde and Zeeks record store.

Love all three of their albums. "You And Your Sister" is a perfect record - every song gets me where I live.

I have loved this band with all my heart for well over 20 years. This is, for some reason, the first live footage I've seen of them. I'm not disappointed.

me too - great memories with the VB. Pure magic at times. Great band to see live, which I did as often as possible in the early 1990s

Why they aren't one of the more popular groups in the US is beyond me. Decades later and still going strong. Definitely they are no one hit wonder band!

Takes me back to the college years of the early 90's. One of the most under-rated bands of all time. Love their music!

MrHionlife I got to see them quite a bit in Bloomington from 91-93. Had tickets to see them at Schuba’s in Chi 1/18 for first time in over 25 years, but got my dates mixed up and missed it ☹️

Dale is pretty serious about everything, this song rocks, but I’ve seen them in the past few years; the drummer is like the happiest guy in the world between songs, and his girl is just as awesome. Smile, smile, smile.
