The VW California SURF with California Chris

Today we're looking at the VW California SURF! This new model sits juuuust below the VW California Ocean, but just might be what someone is looking for if the Cali Ocean is too much for them.
It's worth noting - as always - that if you're looking at a VW California Surf, but you are going to add a few optional extras on it, you might be getting in to the price range of just getting a California Ocean (which has a lot of those optional extras as STANDARD). So, I would recommend having a copy of the Cali Ocean standard features in hand while configuring this model.
That said, the VW California Surf is a lovely vehicle with an ELECTRIC roof (different to the VW California Coast before it) and a much lighter interior. Let me know what you think in the comments.

I think it’s too close in price to the ocean and really VW should have left the coast in place which was much cheaper than the ocean and in the middle between the beach and ocean

I can see where you're coming from, but most people were choosing an Ocean because of the electric vs manual roof. I'm not sure if the Surf is based on sales figures of the Coast or sales figures of the Ocean. Who knows!?

Has VW made an about-face on phasing out the T6.1? All that move did was to increase demand as people suspect the T7 to be delayed and not as good as a T6.1 campervan.

The T7 California is still coming, but release date isn't confirmed yet. The California Concept is based on the Multivan, but I can only assume that that there will be a California version of the next-gen Transporter too. A lot of people are comparing the T6.1 California to the T7 California, but they're different base vehicles. It'll be interesting to see the range in the next few years.

Volkswagen have released the First Official Picture of the New T7 Van that has a camouflaged wrap. More Official Pictures will be revealed In Spring 2024
