I've always loved those wheels. Growing up in the Bay Area and seeing his car in person, Steve Jobs had them on his Silver SL55 AMG, which was the last car he drove/owned and I always thought it looked amazing on it. So classic.

I've always thought the W211 just got better with time while it was in production and even to this day. This design just seemed to be an evolution of the w210, and yet was still a classic design. The tech was exactly enough and the gauges were done well without being just another screen. The same is true of the wagon as well. This and a certain Japanese midsized luxury sedan, that was available as a hybrid, v6, and v8 in the same generation, (that is no longer with us) are two of my favorites from this 00s.

i have a 2007 w211 e550 with airmatic suspension, probably the best daily ever, That M273 5.5L is a rocket even for its time, 130,000 miles on the odometer and it runs like a clock, i highly recommend both the prefacelift and facelift e500 or e500 models; both the M113 and M273 are very reliable

Yes but as a result ended being better in many ways. I've owned both and the gs is nice in its own right. The s190 gs is a MUCH higher quality car than a w212 and the generation before is as good of a car as the w211 in many ways but it's apples to oranges. Lexus feels more plush, Benz feels better thought out with the details. Lexus feels more isolated, Benz feels more capable. Lexus shifts crisper Benz wafts up to speed. In my opinion w211 is the last good Benz and s190 is the last good gs before they started to feel cheap.

I have an 320 cdi 2007 and love it. and it has one real good thing in the back. LSD differential. when it is real winter that lsd get me up and go even up to about 30 cm snow. just turn of esp and go.

11:07 you don't need to fold it. Just push it from 'outside' and the cup holder will slide out, no need to fold the top compartment of the armrest. The other space is to store a notebook , pen or phone.

Recently bought one as a second car for cheap. It almost got 300k km but still runs si smooth and good. Im honestly baffled how well this car is made. And it could very well reach half a million KMs. Mercedes back then was probably the best car maker

We in the UK get the E320cdi diesel and it's fantastic, so much power and torque but still getting 40mpg. Fantastic cars

Guys would you buy it from for ex. Germany also in this year? I like older cars and here especially the design, 6 cylinder OM648 engine, overal reliability but I'm worried about the other parts like chassis maybe corrosion it's 20y old car after all. Would you recommend it even it is 20 years old car will it pays off risk the maintenance costs?

I have a 2003 wegfal 200 kompressor avantgarde prefacelift with nut wood instead of aluminium inlays in silver. I think its design had reference to a jaguar xj from the 80thies

I have owned three of these, and they were all basically maintenance free. NOT one problem ever. Also, the five liter motor is fast as hell.

@@the8419 SEMANTICS. Maintenance free meaning they've had no major issues like a car that breaks down all the time. So if were being literal, yes the MB maintenance schedules are followed accordingly to the tee, i.e., tires, oil, batteries, ect. with no major failures. My neighbors Jaguar is in the shop more than his own garage and its only two years old. Now that's a maintenance problem !

Geez some people rabbit on. "Fluid motion" is what I'm on about & all the other bullshit crap he waffles on about. It's a great car, especially the tip shift auto gear change, so leave it at that!
