it's interesting to me that with the amount of guns there are even in borderlands 1 that there are only 10 hybrids, even then all of them are only double hybrids, what if there was at least one triple hybrid that's even harder to farm for.

Well what makes a hybrid is a pretty limiting selection when you boil it all down. First off, all hybrids need to be a combo of the same weapon type and same manufacturer, it can't mix. Then you have to take into account the guns that have the same gun defining part which brings it down to 10. The reason why there's no triple hybrid is because most manufacturers in Bl1 only make 2 of the same weapon type. There are some exceptions like Atlas revolvers but then it goes back to the gun defining parts and it's lost again

its not really surprising when you learn how the part system in bl1 works, legendary parts are limited to specific manufacturers, uniques generally always spawn with speciric parts, the ones that dont or dont have specific slots locked down use the regular part selection which lead to some uniques potentially rolling legendary parts then theres the dove which is bugged to roll any accessory instead of no accessory so you get a dove hornet, hence it being fixed in the dehanced version

I've got no idea how many times I've probably landed a hybrid in BL1 (probably not often) Since BL1 is so different from every game proceeding it and only some weapons kept as novelty items throughout the franchise (sledge's shotgun, skullmasher, hellfire, etc.) I've found it hard to even try hunting for certain weapons. The simple pursuit has always been just finding the next weapon that works better than the previous to suit Brick's build and making sure some of those are elemental as well. I didn't even know that hybrids were even a thing until your Hornet hunt! Also, music from Banjo Kazooie? Hell yeah! Haha.... I'm so old...

Honestly, Hybrid's and pearls are a pretty niche thing in the grand scheme of Borderlands 1 but they're the reason that I keep coming back. No game in the Borderlands franchise has as good as an endgame loot hunt as bl1!

@Cashew1405 I wish I could agree with as much passion as you - but aside from the Hyperion loot farm I get kinda bored. Honestly, it's entirely because I don't have the skill to be farming through crawmarax battles and I've already been soft locked out of the General Knoxx loot farm too so - I'd just be running around maps shooting old enemies Can't even go back and enjoy killing the destroyer I might try new characters on BL1 one day, but I haven't even started BL3 yet so just let me get at least one full run through of each game before I go making every character OP haha

You're valid either way. Will say though if you got locked out of Super Marcus Sweep you can always complete the quest then get the next 2 missions from Marcus as the mission "It's like Christmas" is the exact same as Super Marcus sweep.

Fun fact: Due to the fix to the Penetrator's rarity in BL1 Enhanced, a Reaver's Edge Penetrator hybrid now drops as a Legendary in the remaster, so it's much easier to spot! I have a recorded drop to prove it as well. The Dove I believe has completely fixed parts in Enhanced, unable to spawn with any accessories as I've noticed farming it. The only differences now are level based damage, only staying in green rarity. I think that might be why the Dove Hornet hybrid got removed in the remaster as well.

The dove has fixed parts, yes, but it is NOT in enhanced. Like I said in the vid, the game fixed the bug that let the dove hornet spawn with every accessory

@Cashew1405 I must not have processed that, I thought that wasn't a bug in the original, and instead only having accessories as variable parts. Though I suppose 2x consuming 1 ammo per shot as opposed to 0 was probably unintended thinking back on it. Still, should've paid attention a little more lol. At least I'm right on the money with that Penetrator part. Still, I am still kind of bitter about the hybrid being removed. As a console player, it's harder going back to the original BL1, even if it's backwards compatible on Xbox.

21:00 And the Barrel_SS_L is the second beta version of Seventh Sence that you can see in trailer for DLC2. It uses the green transparent Ghost skin and kinda works like Queen's call with Ice Queen effect. I can send you the save edit code.

Funnily enough, I decided to try to see if there was a shortcut for the Reaver’s Edge Penetrator, and managed to find one provided you had access to the Scorpio Turret and more importantly (though scumy I guess) an unbreakable shield, in which you place your turret close to the torch that’s underneath the red chest near Reaver’s spawn and throw a grenade at the base of the turret where the grenade would than duplicate and should launch you high enough to reach a narrow “path” allowing to to reach Reaver with only having to fight the enemies that guard Reaver, so believe it or not there is shortcut, just one that I don’t think anyone else thought of. Anyways you are welcome to try if you like, though I’m not sure if it would work on the remastered version, please let me know if I am right or wrong, as I am curious. P.S. I don’t remember who, but got the shield (& shotgun) from a random player at some point a few years ago, as I’m not good at modding nor owned a computer at the time, and at the time didn’t know it was possible to get modded weapons on console, anyway, you giant serving of word pasta has now been served, best enjoy it while it’s hot. 😀👍

I remember a random player giving me a modded weapon on Xbox. It was an invisible Thanatos pistol that dealt infinite damage, it was a pain to aim but I killed everything with a finger gun.

@ From the same person I also had what was essentially a basic repeater pistol that had infinite damage, but had to be accurate with, threw it out when I had the shotgun, along side that I also got an Anarchy Tsunami & Chimera, a Double Shredder Ares, Serpens & a Undertaker (that shot Redemption Rockets), An OP Volcano (that can shoot 9 times before reloading), & lastly a Anarchy Jakobs Hellfire, which can crash the game if I sort my backpack by manufacture. Either was good friends with him until both he & I moved on to other games, but regardless having that Finger gun pistol sounds cool to have, though something I’m curious about is if it’s possible to have a cut grenade launcher weapon on console, because I know it’s possible on PC.

The kybs worth, lucians call, wedding invitation, handsome jack hammer, I think it’s called, are all a hybrid in a sense. The call is a shredder fire and a wagon wheel. Idk why he specifics of the others but they have features that out found nowhere else within their manufacturers e.g Malawian with a shield for the kybs worth

Here me out... They bring back pearls AS hybrids. Maybe something like .001% chance that a legendary roll is a hybrid with a hand-selected few other legendary / unique guns. Ie ig an infintiy or harold were able to roll into an infinty-harold. That'd be awesome

The snowshoe is still a top tier shield on Moze. With a blood letter class mod and a spark plug relic AND the unlock that allows you to slam from regular jump height it's maybe the fastest clear speed in the game. Only maybe surpassed by boresplosion Zane. You are just going jump, slam, nova, heal, repeat. Clears screens of mobs instantly.

I'm currently trying to get all of the hybrids in Borderlands by myself including the very elusive nemesis invader 😅 This video gave me information on how hybrids work and what I'm looking for while finding the hybrids It was also awesome to learn that the mechanics weren't intended and I really appreciate the information you've given❤😅 As for your question (sorry dragged a bit😅😂) I reckon they should bring back hybrids as having a gun with a specific part from another gun is a really cool mechanic and it just allows more gun functionality compared to what we have now in Borderlands games now

Dude I was so pissed off when I found out the blr hornet wasn't in the enhanced edition. I grinded over 200 kills before finding that out. Also, the Rhino Roaster is pretty mediocre, but the fire Rhino absolutely melts. If your really good at lining enemies up, the burn damage is really high due to the base DPS being high. On Lilith with maxed status chance, it's a VERY fun weapon

The only worse one of the bunch is the Cyclops scope on Kyros' rifle and its not even worth using since most of the areas are CQB or medium range engagements. (The invader sniper is meant to be called the Executioner, someone at gearbox fudged the names on few specific oranges)

It is impossible for Krom to drop pearls. Pearls can only be gained from Lace Loot Chests in the Knoxx DLC or as a drop from Crawmarax. The gun your describing though sounds like a Tsnami. Pearl maliwan smg that shoots multiple elements. Maybe your brother already had it in their inventory then dropped it at Kroms feet to fool you??

I remember my favorite "LMG" ib the first Borderlands. I don't think it was a hybrid (I'd have to boot it up to verify), but I DO remember that it was an S&S MG with the blast trait. It dropped as a level 30-something, but outclassed damn near every rifle (including some snipers) that I found well past level 50. Even after finally finding an LMG that had slightly better stats, the difference was so negligible that I never swapped away from it. Also... where the fuck did S&S go in Borderlands lore?!?

Don't know what you mean by LMG. Like automatic snipers or Assault Rifles? S&S in lore struggled to keep up with competition and pivoted into making the loot beams you see on guns. They're now branded as 'S&S Accessories'

@Cashew1405 S&S, based on my memory, advertised their weapons as having a higher ammunition capacity; the weapon in particular I'm referencing is called a "blast MG" if I'm remembering correctly. After having watched the video in its entirety, I have concluded that the weapon in particular I am talking about is in fact not a hybrid. That said: for not being a hybrid it was exceedingly broken for my playthrough. It fell under the "assault rifle" category, even though the item name was listed as a dedicated machine gun.

The Florentine from Borderlands 2 is a purchasable Elemental Hybrid with Seraph Crystals in The Captain Scarlett DLC. Maybe not a traditional..ish Hybrid but a welcome one in UVHM or all modes really.

Heya, I just recently got back into Borderlands 1 (although I'm taking a break again to play something else with my sibling), and I wound up making my goal for this return learning the limits of grenade launcher creation, which lead to me making an information index spreadsheet on everything I figured out. If you've got any interest in doing a collaboration of sorts that goes over the grenade launchers left on the cutting room floor (mostly finished), would you let me know? I've been wanting to get the information out there for a while, but don't really have any reach within the community. Great video about the hybrids! I'm still working on collecting some myself, I believe the most I've got is the Dove Hornet, Ajax Ogre, Cyclops' Power, and a Nemesis Invader, but I haven't been in the best farming mood in a while.

@Cashew1405 Heaps of them! Atlas, S&S, Jakobs, and Dahl all had them, legendary variants included! Sadly, both S&S's and Dahl's legendaries are broken for different reasons, but I implemented a couple of hot fixes using names from other weapon types. Nine Toes was even supposed to gave a unique Dahl grenade launcher called "The Big Toe", which is fully programed.

The remaster looks nicer, includes an FOV slider, a mini map, and fixes a few bugs, BUT the game has a massive Data leak that can tank your PC'S performance and gets rid of the hybrid gun the Dove Hornet. I play both the OG and Enchanced versions for my vids, depending on what I'm going for. If you can put up with a really low FOV, the OG is honestly really great. But if FOV is something you need to be able to change to avoid motion sickness or something, go with the enhanced and reasurch the files you need to delete to get rid of the data leak. Hope that helps, mate!

the “seventh ghost” absolutely isnt a hybrid gun, its got nothing in common with the kings call its just easy to clone other objects when making guns rather than setting up from scratch so they probably cloned stuff from the roguesight since it also reveals stuff on ads calling it a hybrid is like saying the free radical is a carrier beacon hybrid

No, it's definitely a hybrid. The 7th Ghost has the skin, homing shots and bullet style of the rouges sight and many of the special effects of the kings call. On crit you receive ammo back into your mag plus there is a 3 way ricochet, I wouldn't call that nothing.

@ it doesnt have the returning ricochet of the kings call, it just has increased ricochet count like a few jakobs guns have, ammo refund on crit is shared by all the calls and the amazing grace its pretty clear they just cloned the rogue to mess around with and then scrapped it but left the files there

Yeah i dont think it will happen on the account of they nerf builds and guns constantly for some reason stating well its not fun if you join an online coop mission and one person is just busted or if everyone ony plays flakk cause he kills bosses the fastest ect ect basically what they could do is open up the legendary pearl part pool on anything of a certain value say uniques and up right and you could have these supper powerful guns whats more is you could even farm full Frankensteins say like you get a unique dahl body with a legendary barel a pearlescent stock a legendary scope a unique mag and a legendary charm where this thing has 5+ special effects and ungodly stats but each thing is like a 1/1000 roll so like getting the exact weapon you want might be depending on how many parts a gun has like a one in quintiĺion drop or something

I'm personally not a very big fan of the idea of weapon crafting. I think while it's cool on paper like you outlined, the system in practice could get so unbelievably messy that the would no longer feel like Borderlands anymore

It's honestly quite hilarious that the best mechanic in Borderlands 1 was an accident! Personally, I've only ever gotten the TK's Bulldog to drop. Which is just a TK's wave with 20 shots. Definitely the most boring hybrid weapon.

Gearbox can enable hybrids by simply making the part system closer to bl1 But make it so legendaries are always bodies while purple/blues have it somewhere else This would give it more of a chance

I see what your saying but if bl3 had bl1's part system there would like 50 hybrids lmao. The reason why there are only 10 in bl1 is the fact that I hybrid can only combine 2 guns that have both the same type and manufacturer. Bl1 has a pretty small unique gun pool if we compare it to bl3 in that way.

@@Cashew1405 there is also the option to simply have a few select guns that are allowed to go into a possible pool say just have a few blues and purples who have more modest effects and with the legendaries/pearls/??? and those have the parts on something else so it can happen, im sure there is a solution that would make this very possible i mean we have also rarities on parts being on specific loot such as maliwan on shields in bl2 that can also very much influence the whole thing and make it rare

Gearbox should really stop fearing people will break their game. for how rare some of the legendaries are, it should be encourged. any dev wants people to play more of their game. if there was an insane farmable weapon so rare that breaks the game with god-like power, so be it!

"an amazing mechanic" i beg to differ, hiding the most interesting/fun/strongest weapons behind horrendes droprates and farms IN A SOLO/CO-OP GAME is a horrible idea... 99% of players probably never seen a hybrid, i finished the game 2 times and didn't even knew they existed. They should have just hidden them around the map to make them like eastereggs for exploring players, not a 0.001 dropchance of a lategame boss so nobody will ever see it... but good video anyway

Well... like I said, the machinic wasn't an intentional thing added by the devs, it was a happy accident. Having the hybrids be so rare gave them a sort of myth status that players wanted to investigate. The drop rates being low helps for the endgame loot hunt since otherwise there isn't much to do at Bl1 endgame. They just cool
