Fantastic project and a wonderful book Andy. I’m the owner of book number 3169 and it sits proudly on my bookshelf right alongside my Pictorial Guides. The quality of the book and the paintings/descriptions is amazing. It evokes many great memories of the Lakes and achieving my 214. Good luck with the shows this year.

Thanks for watching and taking time to comment Alan. Not forgetting thanks for buying a copy. I wonder did you get to watch the DVD in the book or is this the first time that you have seen it?

Lovely to see a review of what may be your Magnum Opus, Andy? Would you see it as that? I don't want to put words into your mouth!! I felt similar when I finished my PhD. It is emotional to come to the end of a vast project. The end also arrives with an impending sense of, "so what now"! The project has been so consuming of life, love, sweat and tears. Moving on and finding the next role to take up your time, encompass what you love, and monetise into your business, is a real challenge. I admire anybody who has been through the uphill and down dale rollercoaster of a realising Magnum Opus. Congratulations, Andy. Be proud of your work, and thanks for showing us the film! Cheers, Ian

Hi Ian, thank youfor watching and then for leaving such an interesting comment. Not see it as my "Magnum Opus" until you mentioned it but I suppose it is. It was certainly a project that put my name "on the map" so to speak and like I said in the film, not a project that others are likely to undertake, not for a while anyway. Plenty of ideas and new porjects in my head, finding the time to complete them and picking the ones that will bring in decent income is the conumdrum :)

Thanks. Yes, even now I get emotional just watching the film and reliving the day getting the last reference. When Alan (the film-maker) asked me those question I could hardly talk :/

Thank you for creating this wonderful documentary. Giving us a visual insight into your journey, process and the beauty of the areas where you’ve travelled and painted. As one who likes to do plein air paintings (in British Columbia) I so appreciate the depth of history you are connecting, and the enduring nature of landscape. Quite the project. Thanks for sharing!

What a project! I never realized you did every single aspect of the book other than printing!!! And the staying power... 10 years... amazing! I don't live in the UK so I was not familiar with the original guide book nor the fells but through your videos, I've come to admire both. Thank you!
