Having watched him first with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan in a Dover Lane music conference in the early 80's , Kumarji enthralled the audience with his arsenal of taal and a wonderful aspect that is his own. Nice documentary, it s a shame that the sound is that terrible. Some of the recordings are not even understandables, i.e. the dover lane thing and also the kremlin's concert. It's a shame, it looks so good, and so precious to have a documentary on this living legend.

Pranaam to Kumu da, Umu da and family. A lovely try to catch the spirit of the legend. I got a chance to be under his tutelage for a brief period (81 -84). I learnt very little tabla but learnt what 'scale of a man' and 'sadhana' is all about. On the docu-feature, I simply loved it, but just an input: the English subtitles do not do justice to the eloquence and feel of the expression, especially Umu da's words! Thanks and regards, Subhadip Raychaudhuri. ( I hope I did not take liberties)
