Actually they killed him a little bit late. In the comics he never met Negan because he was shot in the eye with an arrow. He should've been already dead in this part of the show but its actually nice that they made him meet and stand up to one of the most scariest villains in the show for a little bit.

This is the saddest episode of television I've ever watched. Even the Red Wedding didn't hit me this hard. I think the main reason being that Rob's actions led to his own death, where here, Glenn did not make the mistakes that Rob did, and was the most innocent out of the group, yet had the most violent and soul crushing death. Nothing will top this episode.

Glenn and Abe’s death where shocking, not sad. I wasn’t crying when they died, I was utterly horrified by the means of which they died. But when this song was playing over a fantasy dinner of what could have been, I lost it. Seeing Sasha pregnant with Abe’s kid, Glenn and his son, Glenn and Abe’s glance and smile to each other. It fucking ruined me and made me realize that the show I knew was over
