To be fair it wasnt just the walkers they had to deal with, if youve ever seen fear twd, one the main character's had actually helped the destruction of a military base. And at the beginning people were roiting because the police had killed a walker that people thought was just a random homeless guy. Human beings played just as an important role of the military falling just as much as the walkers, look at the governor, he killed a small base of military guys whose to say the civilian all round didn't just decide to do the same and attack the military.

Many people will ask why the army cannot defeat zombies. This is an unrealistic idea. While the military still exists, they cannot handle all areas effectively. The military has limited manpower and can only protect important facilities and government personnel first. Most civilians are not usually prioritized for rescue. When most soldiers know that their friends and relatives have been abandoned by the government, they are bound to give up following the army or betray the army. Even if it doesn't fall apart, the remaining military stronghold will eventually become a separate settlement, because they have lost contact with most of the military units and have only enough weapons left to defend themselves.

Don't forget, the TWD virus is not a chronic infectious disease, but no one can get infected without knowing what is going on, so I don't think the government can effectively take care of everyone because the military has limited numbers and capabilities. of. Too many broad assumptions made there. Walkers have no initiative, no means to actually face a direct confrontation with a mobilised company or battalion. Unlike Godzilla or War of The Worlds where the threat can actually survive a stand up fight, walkers can't. So the only question here is how quickly can the military control this, that's all. CRM and commonwealth achieve this because the story went that direction. But its the same logic.

The Infected were supposed to be much smarter in the show, this is shown in the first season. " Opening door handles, slightly jogging etc." Also you have to remember "Zombies" from the media does not exist in the walking dead universe. Nobody knows what they were, or the fact they were not alive. But yes sadly overall the military was dumbed down in the show.

the military operation only lasted 11 days before operation cobalt was declared a failure and the contingency plan was enacted even then it failed plus you have evacuation to military bases but who knows who is bit or sick as supplies runs low as there are no resupply from places so most bases would fall within a year because of lack of medical supplies or food and water supplies. (that's my thesis)

the problem with the series is that it does not reveal the theme of the military, although the problem is not only in the series, we did not see the military in the original comics, so as for me, the original creator of the Walking Dead universe did not like military themes or was too lazy to add it. The series corrected this situation, however, all the ideas of Dorabont that were in season 1, for example, a series about that military man in a tank when Rick climbed into a tank, and there was a dead soldier inside, there should have been a backstory about this soldier, but all this went away instead with Dorabont. it depends on different scenarios, if you look at zombies from left for dead, Resident evil, there are zombies not only dangerous, mutated with the remnants of reason, or remember the movie War of the Worlds z, if you take into account the movie, there are zombies very fast, they can also climb any wall like ants, in the book they are like from the Walking Dead. Or the game The last of us, there is grpp cardyceps, and many zombies have mutated and that the living and those already killed are dangerous to the human body. I do agree whoever there is a lot of points to be made in the walking dead. Zombies don't exist in everyday media - People/Survivors in the show are showed sabotaging the military - The national guard in operation cobalt ended up fighting against the regular army in some cases- some soldiers simply did not follow orders due to having to kill regular people -

World War Z Military faired much better because in that universe zombies existed "in movies and media " also they had a known weakness, they did not go for sick people. And on top of that, not everyone that died turned into an infected. Walking dead on the other hand, ANYONE who died turned into a walker. That is much more annoying to deal with. Honestly just poor planning, and not enough intel. Plus mixed the the fact "Zombies" don't exist in media in this universe. And the military did put a very good fight, and in some cases started winning. however non of this is really seen in the show, as it was cut very early on. "Was supposed to be an entire episode about the tank zombie."

The problem with and the issue is with the walking dead and fear the walking dead. Apparently idk if its true or not but Apparently in this alternate universe zombie movies weren't made so nor regular people or the military knew what zombies were or how to kill them unless they shot them in the head. I forgot where i looked this up but apparently thats just the reality of it. I just know in this reality zombie movies were never introduced thats why the military failed and got completely destroyed by the zombies. If they introduced zombie movies in this reality the military would've handled the zombie virus a bit differently
