Carol was such a background character who wasn't even credited as a Recurring Castmember. She was credited in the closing credits. She is the Leading Lady of The Walking Dead. She Earned it. I think we all knew Daryl would survive to the end of the series, but seeing Carol Peletier make it to this point has been an absolute pleasure and probably the greatest character arch in the show no matter what she does and has done. This was the first Episode she has genuinely smiled in a WHILE

As a TV obsessed fan and a die hard TWD fan I appreciate you guys so much for appreciating episodes like this. Rob says it best when he said “would I rewatch it, probably not” but you have to watch them all at least once and can appreciate a slow episode like this for what it is, good acting by some of our favorite characters.

This episode was the first episode they filmed during COVID, so they were still learning the filming protocols they needed at the time. Also, the red bucket that Carol carries when she goes out for soup ingredients, is a small Easter egg. It's the bucket that Amy used at the quarry camp in Season 1. (not important, but still a nice little callback) I do appreciate that you both caught the purpose of this episode. Fandom was in an uproar over this episode and a lot of people downvoted it without watching it. One of the things that I love about your reactions, is that you both catch nuances that a lot of other people don't see. This episode showed that Daryl and Carol need each other to be the best versions of themselves, however you view them be it platonically or in a romantic way. Of the Covid episodes my two favorites were "Diverged" and "One More" But the next one you watch is quite good as well.

Ahhh yes AMC's The Walking Dead. Who could forget such classics as "Carol and Dog VS Rat?" I'm glad we are wrapping up with these Covid Episodes, but I will admit, I always love seeing Jerry being Jerry and Dog being Dog. And tbh it isnt really a spoiler that social distancing episode 10x22 "Here's Negan" is about only Negan lol

I seen this episode as a turning point for Daryl and Carol. The support Daryl gave to Carol and got nothing out of it... it helped her but not him.... the knife helped Carol with everything she did that day and Daryl was screwed... but he made it work and got back what he needed... he didn't need to take anything back from Carol. I find the knife was represented of the give and take between the two and I think it is balanced out now.

It’s only bad rated cause people were waiting week to week and this isn’t a barn burner. When you have it all to watch immediately this is a good episode. But not when your basically waiting for two weeks for an episode.

@@Ld.801 I totally get it…but people just like it when “something” happens or if there is action involved. Episodes like this, even if there is not a lot of action happening…A LOT is happening. I saw it when the season was airing and had to wait for every episode for days. Human relationships develop or evolve little by little and this was a glimpse into what was happening to Carol and Daryl; just a little bonus. It was wholesome at times and also sad. I enjoyed it and really liked it!

Doing all these individual stories was a clever way to give us Walking Dead stories during covid distance restriction sad so many of fans called them all filled they were just supposed to be entertaining and done on a very strict budget with strict filming restrictions I am glad we got some stuff to watch and all of these are stories that would never make it in to a regular Season storyline.

A couple things that were mentioned on Talking Dead about this episode that make this episode more noteworthy than people are giving it credit for. The two walkers that Daryl killed wearing army/soldier gear near the tracks suggests there may be a military base nearby. On Talking Dead they said part of the purpose of this episode was to show that Daryl and Carol though still formidable on their own are better together. Daryl letting Carol keep the knife was a bit of an unspoken truce this is especially important when you add in the fact that the knife belonged to Leah. The knife has F.G. engraved on it which stands for Fortitude Salutis according to a tidbit revealed on Talking Dead This is a Latin phrase that ALSO appears on Leah’s arm tattoo Fortitude Salutis appears to be taken from Psalms 140 in the King James Bible which is roughly translated to mean support in times of war This could be a not so subtle hint that Leah has a military background. This last bullet point is my own theory perhaps Leah has ties to whatever military base might be close by if there in fact is some sort of base or military camp that those 2 walkers came from that Daryl killed Maybe just maybe if Leah is still alive then she’s at that location.

I think it helps watching these back to back. Waiting months for new episodes was agony and then to have an episode affirming that Carol is badass and Carol and Darryl will be fine - like yea, of course. I didn't need a special episode to know that lol. It hits differently watching all the way through I think. You all are so kind in your analyses, always.

This one isn't really "important", but if you love Carol, Daryl, Dog & Jerry, there's enough to love. And Rob, I love your take on the rat as a metaphor for Carol's emotional ordeal. And yes, it does feel like a reset. I think the weight of thinking she killed Connie --- knowing how Daryl feels about her --- was probably the worst. Wait, there is ONE important thing in this ep. The presence of walker military guys, and Daryl scavenging great stuff off them...

When I first watched this episode I just thought it was boring but rewatching it I liked it. I never realized how Covid played in its filming and that's why only minimal people played a role. I didn't realize how their internal struggles they were going through affected them. I think this is where Daryle and Carole really started to mend their relationship. Always a pleasure watching your reviews. Can't believe your almost at season 11. I also felt like what am I going to live without having TWD to watch. When I finished it, I felt a little lost. I'd re-watch it but then I enjoy re-watching most of the Walking dead except for the Glenn death. Carol vs the Rat was funny and as a mom those days sometimes happened. And really wouldn't there be more rats in the apocalypse? surprised we haven't seen more actually. I liked how bit's of Daryl still ended up comforting and helping her even if he wasn't there. I think I cried when she got that hug from Jerry.

it's kind of strange to feel like 22 episodes is a massive season, when 30 years ago it was 40 or more episodes a year for a series on broadcast television was the norm.

@@nomchompsky2883 No problem. I only knew these 22-24 episodes standard, so I was wondering. Of course there are series with like 250 or more episodes a year: daily soaps. But they are very cheap and fast to produce. Series with less episodes were starting in the later 2000's, like LOST Season 4-6 or Breaking Bad. And remember TWD started with only 6 episodes in S1 and 13 episodes in S2 😆

I liked this episode, to be honest. Not my favourite by far, but I always love to see Carol and Daryl and Dog and Jerry (and the rat)! I agree with what you said about Carol at the end. She was really annoying before and she did cause a lot of problems however I never judged her too harshly for it because not only has she lost a child, she's technically lost FOUR by this point and she had to kill one of them herself. I wouldn't have been surprised if she'd lost her way a lot sooner when Sophia died. I'm sorry you got spoiled on what the next episode will be about. I hope you enjoy it anyway! (I say this as someone who survived a lot of spoilers during the run of the main show, it's still fun to watch)

I have a hard time understanding this episode but it's funny, kind of the most pointless of these episodes but it's more about Daryll and Carols mental state. Carol is always sniffing out the rats. The next episode is probably the best of the bonus episodes, it gives you a lot more background. While the bonus episodes don't do a lot to further the storyline, there is a lot of symbolism and background being laid for next season. They get a lot of flack but I don't find any of them totally pointless, it's a look into the mindset of a lot of our major characters and I don't think a lot of people realized the foreshadowing for the final season, it really is brilliant. I can't believe you all are finally almost here, the final season. It's been such a great journey with you but plenty more spinoffs to come😊

i agree, it's not an episode to watch over and over. but i thought it was a good use of the extended episodes to add some levity to the show without being ridiculous. and now FINALLY the wait is over. one of the best episodes of the entire series is up next. and if you're not team Negan right now, you will be. JDM should have took home an Emmy for the performance he gives. it is, everything you need to know about Negan, and then some. good job guys.

They could have done so much more with it, given her tramatic past. Jerry was the best part. Yeah, i just hate this one. This episode had good ideas, but suffered from severely limiting writing and essentially a C story being turned into a forty minute episode. It's not unwatchably bad or offensive like most people like to act like it is, but it's not exactly good, either. To me, at least. Next episode, however? 11/10

People cant handle character episodes. ALways called filler episodes, but most people are only excited by action and dont have enough attention spans to enjoy a character development storyline. Still meh at the end of the day, but people hating and complaining are just babies with ADHD. Its just a few episodes throughout the series, but people always cry when theres no action.
