There was also a "In Memory of John Bernecker. " He was a stunt man who tragically died during shooting this season, falling from that platform Negan and his leutenants are standing on. He missed the cushion because he hesitated for unknown reason. His family sued AMC, and the case was tried. It just ended weeks ago. AMC was found not at fault.

I think this was the 100th episode of the series so throughout the season we got callbacks to the first season. Pretty neat. Yeah I was tripped out by the season opener as well. lol

I really like the reference when Carl was driving that van to the gas station just like in S1 E1 when Rick drove his police cruiser to that gas station and also another reference was at the end of the episode when Gabriel is trapped with Negan in that trailer and its surrounded by walkers just like when Rick was stuck in that tank in Atlanta and its surrounded by walkers

There's alot of throwbacks to previous seasons in here. Besides Carl's scene scputing around the car wrecks (Rick in the pilot episode), all the walkers around the trailer where Negan and Father G are hiding (again, Rick in pilot episode when he was in the tank). Rick's "thoughts", flashbacks, "My Mercy Prevails over my Wrath", seems confusing, but they'll be explained in a few more episodes....sigh...

The plan of shooting the windows out was to get the Walkers around the Sanctuary to keep the Saviors hostage till Rick's people could get rid of all the outposts. Then come back to get rid of Sanctuary and Negan.

Patrick Gogan yep. Luckily they got a new show runner who worked wonders for season 9 onwards. Gimple just started to lack effort in his writing. This season felt very rushed compared to the previous 7.

This episode was also the 100th episode so there were quite a few callbacks to season 1. Carl walking up on the gas station was a recreation of the first scene of the whole series. Also, the flashforward of old man Rick waking up referenced Rick waking up from his coma. Then, the final shot here was a recreation of the final shot if the first episode. As far as this episode goes with the time jumping and what the current coordinated plan of attack is...all will be revealed throughout the season. I do want to point out that "My mercy prevails over my wrath" which Rick said was actually first quoted by the vagrant Carl encountered.

What I liked about this episode: Finially, after putting up with being under the thumb of negan for so long, the communies go on the offensive. There are similarities to D Day, June 6 1944, when the allied forces finilly invade Europe after years of getting hammered. I was so ready! And like D-Day, things went wrong. But, remimber what Maggie said about keeping the faith with each other. I also loved that adorable Judith. You notice two two different aged cuties played Judith this episode. I also loved the charactor development t of Carl here. You see him becoming more compassionate toward strangers. He's still a bit odds with Rick, but the roles have reversed. Remember when Rick brought home survivors from Woodbury and younger Carl was angry with him for doing so. I loved the music score. Notice the peice played while Carl was setting out the "I'm sorry" food drop for the stranger. It was the perfect "I'm Sorry " tune. Just awsome .

George did Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, and Dawn of the Dead in the 70/80s. This 3 made zombies a big hit and very popular. More recently he did Land of the Dead. Even though there were zombie movies before, Night pretty much inspired everything that came after.

What I didn't like; What the heck! When did Rick forget how to shoot? Negan and his Leutenants, all lined up like ducks in a shooting gallery, and Rick misses all of them? This could have been over! Also, sinse when do bullets not go through corrigated tin?! I know, I know, I suspended reality when I started watching. Sigh. Lastly, I DON'T LIKE THAT SNAKE GREGORY!

Shirley Coakley I wasn’t a big fan of the season overall. The reason I say that is it took so long to get there. It’s like Gimple only saves the biggest moments only in the mid season finale and finale. That’s not how you write a show, it has to be good throughout.

This is the first season that I haven't re-watched at all. I feel like the dialogue got really boring and the gun fight scenes were really not that impressive. I still love the series as a whole, and definitely love the characters, but Gimple had long lost his magic at this point, glad Angela Kang took over!

Imo something you should consider about Gabriel trying to save Gregory is that Gabriel's never really met him and doesn't know how much of an asshole he'd been in the past. He might have reacted differently if he knew more about him but for all Gabriel might have known from seeing him here is that he might have just been trying to stay safe because he was afraid of the Saviors.

Lucas Duncan not just they they did it so if Negan had snipers up there they’d get cold and the coldness would throw off their shooting but also b/c it was for the sniper teams from each community would have much easier shots and get a guaranteed kill w/o maybe the bullet missing or hitting higher on the windows also they wanted everyone in the Sanctuary to be cold 24/7 w/ little to no heat.

Just giving an honest opinion here... but it took me three years to watch Season 8. I found it completely uninteresting and poorly filmed. It was so bad to me, I stopped watching. I recently caught up with the Series... and I can say with sincerity, Seasons 9 & 10 are worth the pain.

I have been looking for an explanation for a long time about why you shoot windows. I know now. You want the opponent to get a stiff neck because it gets very drafty. This then makes it difficult to use weapons. Oh yes, and then they freeze to death at night because it's cold outside. The season is just boring and illogical. They absolutely messed up. Then the showrunner changes to Season 9 and things go up again. Angela kang saved the series.

They've been on the road for 8 months, barely scratching out an existence, and certainly wouldn't be able to find the fuel for that gas-guzzler. The new RV was introduced by Aaron and Eric when they recruited Rick&co. for Alexandria. 😊

This episode is the epitome of why I hate Seasons 7 to 8. Negan just decides to casually walk in front of a bunch of angry soldiers armed to the teeth and doesn't die because the show can't kill him yet. Horrible writing. How am I supposed to take Negan seriously when he didn't even have a real plan to defend the sanctuary, he knew war was starting, he knew an attack was imminent, yet he had no plan to counter attack. Seriously horrible writing. And when everyone starts shooting, they're literally just shooting windows, they're all so wasteful of their ammo. One guy hides behind a car and they all start emptying their mags into it. Its the apocalypse its not like people are making bullets.

I'll agree with horrible writing but two of your points are incorrect... 1.) The windows they shot at had saviors behind them and they could see clearly over the cars. 2.) They DO have bullet makers in the apocalypse. Eugene gave the recipe to Rick on how to make bullets and later on, Eugene tells Negan he can make them for him.
