Eugene, and in a way, Abraham, were similar. Eugene said "if he can't save the world, he has no purpose, no value." Abraham, in the flashback thought the same thing. He's a soldier, and now feels he has no purpose. His family left him and then died, and he has no mission. So, why still be alive? Eugene gave him a mission, a reason to live.

I know Shane is still fresh in their mind because they recently watched it. But damn let the dude go 😂. I watched this show every year and totally did not care about Shane cause all he did was cause trouble for the group. Yeah hes one of my favorite characters but that was back in season two. You cant keep bringing him up and think he’d do a better job than Rick. Cause in reality, Governer would’ve killed everybody if Shane was in charge

@@hades8831 I didn't say it made him but every character has pivotal moments that shaped them and RIck's first was Shane's death. Laurie, Michonne & Hershel's death also majorly impacted him. Shane was the first one to really shift him as a person though. I mean seriously it's in the same episode. Soon as he kills Shane he starts talking about how he's not running a democracy and the show even references in Rick's final episode when it comes right out of Shane's mouth lol

Yes if you go back and listen to Eugene speak you'll realize he doesnt ever answer anyone. Just talks a bunch of nonsense that sounds like an answer. That being said I had a soft spot for Eugene after this episode. Especially when you realize he shot the tank up intentionally to help Glenn and he sabotaged the bus so they could stay with the group.

Abraham killed those men in the grocery store because they raped his wife and daughter and made his son watch while he was away on a run. I know this from the comics. Abraham lost his temper and brutally killed him and then his wife and kids were afraid of him because of it and ran away.

the flashback scenes of abraham w his family apparently weren't very thorough. the men he killed w soup cans in the market raped his wife and daughter. this is what i heard was in the comics. not sure what happened w his son. anyway, he killed them so savagely, that his family took their chances on the road w bloodthirsty walkers, rather than stay w him.

honestly if I was Eugene I would still have lied and said something like "it's been too long! I can't stop it! the fuel for the (place where he was taking them) was only suppose to last 2 years, 2 and a half if we were lucky, so even if we get to DC it won't matter because there won't be a way to start the machines. Unless we can get to DC with 2 million gallons of fuel we are screwed! I'm sure this sounds mean,but I agree completely with Eugene when he said he had,"little value to the group".(Dude didn't even attempt to kill a walker until this point.🙄)However,later on in the show,the writers started to divulge much more of how he actually became an awesome character,and an incredible asset to the group.It took him a few seasons,but eventually I grew to truly like his character.😊
