Its comical how useless the commonwealth soldiers are and even with all the armor the walkers still kill them so easy. Also the part where Daryl is taking fire behind a mini van and the soldiers are lighting it up drove me crazy. Even handgun bullets can penetrate all the way through the side of a car never mind a rifle round.

What made the commonwealth arc so good in the comics was that it wasn’t another Rick vs the villain story it was a story about political corruption but the show turns Lance into a moustache twirling villain

Really weird decision considering most viewers aren't that invested in Oceanside anyway, you'd think they would get the resolution over and done with rather than making viewers wait 4-5 weeks, when most were lukewarm about the cliffhanger in the 1st place.

I agree with you on Sebastian. I like on how it sends a message that no one is safe, and also with how poetic it is. It’s also shaking that the only one who steps in to help is a Grimes considering what he did to her father in the comics. But I also liked the actor playing him, and there was some interesting set up for his character in that episode. I hope it was the right decision. Also I find it funny how he shows shades of remorse and change, but the second something doesn’t go his or his moms way he looses it, and returns to being a prick.

The final season of TWD works best when they’re building up the Commonwealth steadily before paying things off properly in a satisfying manner such as episodes 10, 13, and 14. Best part of these 2 episodes are definitely between Maxine and Sebastian. His actor is a scene stealer that makes the most of his conversations. Felt sympathy for him leading to his death and wished we would’ve seen more of him but still love the execution of his final episode and final moments. Even still there are limitations to what this series can do with, speeding through the big plot events and how they affect the communities, the cheesy jeep scene made purely for the visuals. Do hope we get more of episode 18 with the Sebastian episode and less of 17 with the jeep.

Thankfully episode 19 is more like 18 than 17, even if the pacing is a bit all over the place at times. Season 11 feels weird, we had a really slow start with the repears wasting 8 episodes, and now it seems like there's a lot of plot to get through with not much time left. Agree with you on Sebastian and TWD working best at the commonwealth.

I'm kinda torn on this whole commonwealth arc. I think the story and characters have been good. However, what puts me off is how small and lifeless the Commonwealth feels. It's always the same few places and a fairly small number of people we see. This place is meant to be massive. The protests and the Founders Day event felt so empty. I appreciate this may be covid restrictions causing this though. This and the fact that the Commonwealth locations just look like film sets to me detract from the experience.
@HeyJoshyJosh
@HeyJoshyJosh Жыл бұрын
It definitely doesn't feel like a place where 50,000 live. We just see the same streets all the time, it does feel really small, even when compared to The Kingdom or Alexandria. I read that the writers wanted to fill up a football stadium full of extras for the founders day celebration entertainment, but had to scale the entertainment back to a small wrestling match :/ I think the commonwealth would have been much larger in scope were it not for COVID. Also, I'm assuming AMC has cut TWD's budget as well which may have something to do with it, but that's just my opinion.
@bishbosh4815

This final season is such a weird experience because we know Daryl, Maggie and Negan (and Carol?) are safe, so there's no tension and stakes when it comes to the main characters. Of course it's possible the main side characters like Eugene, Rosita, Gabriel, Aaron, Ezekiel, Lydia etc could die but they've been so afraid to kill any major character off for so long I'm not even sweating it. And because we know about the spinoffs and have done for over a year, we're basically just watch to see how they are set up and how those characters end up there. This is only a conclusion to the side characters story, not the whole show

Episode 17 had the most embarrassing, horrifically awful yet comical scene of the entire series so far. The flipping Jeep when they were on flat ground and the zombies were still yards away was absolutely absurd. This season has had a few good episodes but by and large has been so bad and that scene was just the perfect display for it. As far as Negan’s wife, I think she’ll get Lori’s comic death. Maybe she’ll give birth first but maybe not, either way I think she’s going to get shot when fleeing and the baby will die also, making Negan flip his shit. Something like that is one of the only ways I can legitimately see Maggie and Negan coming together enough to have a spin off together.

I don't think Sebastian was being geunine when he made the political speech at the end! (before Max plays the tape-recording on the radio). Yeah the walking dead has a bloated cast right now and I'd say around 70% of the characters they don't really know what to do with or have disappeared all together like Luke, should've just killed him off during season 10. Outside of Negan, Carol, Ezekiel, Daryl, Rosita, Eugene, Gabriel, and Mercer the rest of the characters don't really matter unfortunately like remember how big of a deal it was when Yumiko found out her brother was in the commonwealth and now when he pops up it's like 'oh yeah Yumiko has a brother' or when Connie and Virgil returned and it was a big deal and now Connie is just a journalist and Virgil is huh, now that i think about it i don't know where the fuck he is.

I have the unpopular opinion that what Sebastian did wasn't wrong. He never forced anyone to go get that money through violence or threats of violence and never deceived people by tricking them about the presence of walkers. He made deals with people and basically said "I want this money and you need help, if you get it for me I'll give you some and use my power to better your life." Personally I think Sebastian is an obnoxious spoiled brat but what he did there was fine On a different note I also really liked the death of Sebastian, it was surprising but also made sense since his comic roll is no longer necessary. Although I wouldn't be surprised if this is also an attempt to make comic readers think there will be no final Rick-like death. We could see someone like Hornsby take Sebastians roll and kill someone which could be very interesting. These last few episodes are looking promising. Although the announcement of spinoffs have made conclusive endings for certain characters impossible, I still think there's a lot to look forward to with the variant Walkers, Lances potential CRM connection as well as wherever the story will go now that Sebastian is dead and Pamela will be obviously vengeful.
@HeyJoshyJosh
@HeyJoshyJosh Жыл бұрын
Hey. I get what you're saying, and you could argue that the people going in to the house knew the risks, and they knew what they were getting themselves in for. But then again, I do wonder what would've happened if those people turned down Sebastian's offer, we already saw that he didn't take too kindly to Daryl and Rosita when they initially refused. It's possible the ordinary people who he approached could've felt intimidated and they may have thought they would get in serious trouble if they turned down a request from Pamela's son. I guess it's impossible to know what really happened when he approached these people because we don't see it actually play out, but I still feel there's just something predatory about asking vulnerable people, people who he knew were expendable, to risk their lives for some money. As Sebastian says in this episode, "the system is rigged, the poor stay poor", so essentially he and his family played a part in making sure these people stay poor, and now he's sending them off on a suicide mission because he knows they are too desperate to say no. Still doesn't sit right with me, even if they weren't forced to accept his offer. I agree with you on Sebastian's death. I think we will get at least one big death before the show ends, after watching episode 19 I'm leaning more towards it being Eugene. Quite possible Pamela kills him. I do wonder if TWD will end in a similar fashion to the comics, it will skip ahead a decade or so, and then all the spin-off shows will take place in between the time skip. That way the show can have a definite ending, but also gives room for the spin-offs to exist.

I think these episodes were really good in what they did do but it's so bizarre how the last episode ended the way it did on that cliffhanger over the Commonwealth taking over the communities and Oceanside's fate in the balance and that all just seems in consequential now because within one episode Lance is captured, Pamela pardons them, and it focuses entirely on being in the Commonwealth again. Also I thought the characters in the Commonwealth were going to investigate the missing people, they found coordinates and were going to ride out in the morning, and this hasn't been brought up at all yet. The writers have this really weird thing of setting up potentially interesting things and then not following through on them and doing something else instead, either ignoring it entirely or padding it out and saving it for a "big reveal" later on, which is just bad writing and shows don't normally do this. So as much as I did like what these episodes had to offer I am underwhelmed and confused as to the things they set up in 11B's finale have just gone unresolved. I don't even fully understand what Lance's whole plan was anyway and how he was able to do it under Pamela and Mercer's noses, his motivations are vague and too often the writers leave things up to the audiences interpretation instead of just telling us
@tobyslater2011
@tobyslater2011 Жыл бұрын
Lance didn't have the opportunity for promotion at CW, despite his skills with negotiation, diplomacy etc. So that's why he wanted to have power in Alexandria/Hilltop. Golden opportunity for him. As for why he went 'evil' and did a takeover of the communities there, I guess that is just the person he is. He got pushed into doing it out of anger and disagreement, because of the 'Warlords' episodes where the ex-CIA guy and his squad died

I wish the season had just resumed with the Oceanside cliffhanger being resolved, I don't know why they are dragging it out considering most viewers aren't that invested in Oceanside anyway. Why make viewers wait for a reveal, which most won't really care about? I'm not really sure what's going on with Lance either, obviously Maggie pissed him off by rejecting his offer, but I'm not really sure why he wants to kill everyone now.

I'm gonna say this just to piss Joshy Josh off, I Actually like Carl (oh sorry, Coral)'s Death, and I Do believe The Show actually got better without carl

They shouldn’t have killed Carl, but I do think everyone overreacted and Carl wasn’t the best(nor was Chandler Riggs acting abilities)

I just don't think his death should've been the reason behind Negan and Rick wanting peace. They should've killed Morgan, he was preaching about peace for years, would've made sense for him to die, and then have Rick wanting to honour Morgan by sparing Negan.
