The book goes into these topics in a lot more depth. But I wanted to give a comprehensive overview for people to get their head around. I've not come across a video that explains this before.

@@aquaticfanaticsuk Thank you Keith, I truly believe the more people that get into dirted tanks no matter the style the better. I truly believe it’s the way our hobby is heading. Sort of stepping back into time when things were easier except there is a plethora of knowledge out there for hobbyists to understand and make them thrive.

@pattys_aquatics I totally agree. I'm very much about promoting dirted tanks. I think we should be exploring different soils, substrates, plants, and scapes. And trying different things from different methods. I think Diana's book is a foundation that should be built on.

The video contains excellent information. An interesting comment was about using floating plants to balance the tank quickly due to more accessible carbon. Good stuff.

anyone else have problems with tanks leaking bcs of dirt + sand combo? Or are my tanks just badly made and I have no luck in walstad? I really want to try this :(

I've had a few old tanks leak over the years. Never had a problem with walstad, though, to be honest, bud
