Mary Jackson and Helen Kleeb stole every scene they were in. I’m watching the early season 1 episodes and there’s one scene at Godsey’s where they are effortlessly splitting the dialog - Mamie takes one line and Emily takes the next and it is seamless and smooth and very funny. They’re talking about one cousin’s wife and her struggles and they emphasize “NOT a Baldwin”. LOL. They mention that another cousin moved to Washington D.C “or some other such outlandish place.” They were great.

I'm Anita B. This was a funny episode where Yancy turns down Turkey on Thanksgiving Day thinking it's his pet their eating. So funny when Yancy is told it's not his pet and his pet is looking in the window. So much fun on The Waltons! I came from a family their were 6 of us kids so I can relate so much to The Waltons.

I loved the John Boy/Jenny storyline. I hated to see her leave, but I did like that she was only on a couple of times, but you can see the hurt they each have when she leaves. The depth of their feelings sort of made me think of how John and Olivia must've been when they were young. And I love anything involving the Baldwin ladies. They were such a treasure on the show. Judy, thanks for this, just what we needed today and thanks for getting Eric and Mary to add their thoughts. Would love to see them in future videos.

Very nice having Mary & Eric as a Thanksgiving surprise in this video. Mary is right. It just felt like you were watching a real family not just actors. The whole cast just gelled and had a really special bond with one another. I haven't seen the Thanksgiving episode in many many years but do love the Ben & Grandpa side story along with the Mary-Ellen story. I had a mad crush on Sian. Hi Judy, This is definitely one of my favorite episodes. Those dear Baldwin sisters wanting to adopt Jason, was So comical! The look on Olivia’s face; and how she was able to pick up the huge Bible, turn to the correct page. Then the line from John, We’re not lending our children this year, So funny! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Ours was nice. My husband and I just celebrated 40 years of marriage. We wanted to redo our vows; but the virus put an end to that idea. I’m enjoying learning the in depth history to these shows. I never tire of watching the Waltons, especially now, with this virus. Thanks again!

The Thanksgiving Story is airing right now and I'm watching it on the HallmarkHD channel as I speak! How apropos! They put season 2 ahead of season 1 , I'm not sure why except to air this two part episode but they're showing the entire season 2, back to back episodes and then coming back to season 1 on Monday,November 30th. I never knew Richard dated Sian Barbara in real life but their chemistry was obviously and genuine and very sweet. I always thought his love for her was a more mature love and true love and visa versa for Sian. That John Boy remained friends with all girl friends throughout his lifetime shows how he not only respected women, but had their respect in turn. He was a true gentleman in every sense who kept the family values that were instilled in him, close to his heart. They would guide and serve him the rest of his life. I love the hearing the backstory Judy, all the little details that we viewers were so blissfully unaware of until now. Well, most of them, lol. Wishing you, Eric Scott, Mary McDonough( it was such a joy to see them, please tell them so!)and all the cast members a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving! 🤗🦃🙏❤

I LOVED seeing Eric Scott, he is as warm and charismatic on screen as he was on this segment.... during major conflict on the Waltons, his outstanding acting skills were palpable. The verbal and non-verbal exchanges he had with John Walton, Jason, or Jim Bob in particular were gripping. and Mary McDonough, I LOVE LOVE LOVE her laugh. She has the best laugh ever and of course another beautiful creative person. As a young child, her performance in the episode where she sheltered a homeless/hurt deer was excellent. I could feel her sorrow, and that's when you know the Acting is so terrific. It is no wonder you are (all) such good friends forever. 💜💛❤

One of the nicest things in the Waltons is how John and Olivia value their marriage and relationship so much, that they never want to stay mad. They want to come together and be at peace with eachother. Their love for each other is stronger than their differences. It's inspiring.

This one is so fun to watch! Olivia’s face when the Baldwin sisters asked to adopt Jason...😳🤨 followed by her reaching for the Bible, then composing herself and graciously inviting the Baldwin sisters to come for Thanksgiving supper is priceless. Jason’s face was also pretty funny. I think my favorite moment though was when John and Olivia finally laugh about it. Jason and John Boy overhear and are relieved. Their comment about how “Daddy” just has a way about him. So sweet. I think we’ve all had that kind of moment. Hoping whichever parent can sway the other and maybe lighten your punishment. 😬😊

I recall this episode especially gave my spirits a boost years ago when I wasnt able to be with my folks that Thanksgiving and my husband was in the hospital i think recovering from pneumonia. It had been a dull day and i went to see him in hospital and we watched this episode which i was probably seeing for at least the 3rd or 4th time. I love Eric's comments on how everyone was just really focused on "The Thanksgiving Story". I remember quite a few episodes of "The Andy Griffith Show" that give me the same type of impression; one that stands out is "Opie the Birdman", in which our pal Opie carelessly shoots a mother songbird, and feels a real sense of sorrow. Andy confronts him about it, but instead of giving him a spanking, he just opens Opie's window and lets his son hear the little birds chirping for their mama who's never coming back to them. Opie then takes over caring for the little birds until they're able to fly off on their own. The whole cast (Andy Griffith, Ron Howard, Don Knotts and Frances Bavier) just seemed so focused on the story with that episode.

I would like to thank you for reminding me how the "family" always found a way to remedy a situation. I came from a bigger family and it didn't always workout quite the same! You are doing a stupendous job on talking about the parts of the Walton's that I didn't know about. I liked seeing your "guest stars" appearances! So to you and them, HAPPY THANKSGIVING. The memories of the show and my own are humbling.

for the last 5 years I had been taking care of my mother in law in my home until she passed then my mom who moved in with me until she passed this last August. My wonderful son got me the whole Walton series with the specials last Christmas, something that I had always wanted. with my Mom being so sick and in and out of the hospital all the time I was unable to watch them until just now, almost a year later....I have always loved the Walton's but even more so now with the passing of my mom. I have always said if I had the money I would build me the Walton house...your show has been a true blessing, thank you again !

I remember an episode where John - boy was trying to break out with his writing but even though his long hand writing was as good as possible, he was told his writings must be typed. I think it was a big deal then to own a typewriter, but Grandma intervened and saved the day getting one for John - boy. I think I remember him saying “ I cherish you Grandma”. I have not checked anything, that is from my memory going back to when it was on the show in the 70’s. So that line stuck with me a long time.

I think it would have been a funny running joke actually. Every year, the Baldwins ask if they could adopt one of the kids now thinking it’s a totally reasonable request since they have seven for goodness sake. And John just responds “Sorry, no. We are not giving away any children this year.” I recall seeing this episode (or parts of this episode) relatively recently and I remember thinking, “John Boy had brain surgery and apparently had to have his head shaved. His hair sure grew back fast to the length it was before surgery!” 😂

We grew up watching the Walton's and even now,when we leave our parents to go home,we say goodnight to each other and "night john-boy".I'm so grateful to have had the Walton's in my childhood,often watched with my grandma who was similar to Esther in some ways❤️
