Tension between the Pokanoket leadership of the Wampanoag Paramount Chiefdom and the English boil over into one of the deadliest wars, per capita, in colonial history.

Love this series. So excited when a new video drops Thanks so much for making these. Fascinating level of detail. I'll usually listen to the same episode a half dozen times to try and retain it. Can't wait to dig into this one.

This is a very interesting war that most people don’t know about.

I live next to Springfield and have lived in the area my whole life. Since joining the West Springfield Historical Commission, I began to learn about Springfield's origins, including King Philip's War. I had no idea for the longest time that Springfield was burned down during the war. Will you ever do a video on the area of Springfield, by any chance?

Woooo King Phillips war!! I shouldn’t be so excited about a nasty conflict but happy to see this series progressing into the 1670’s, lest we forget on the Massachusetts state flag it actual does reference Metacomet either the figure on the flag or his belt references him!

36:02 😮 My 10x great gramps was a jerk. 1:12:55 My paternal 9th great grandfather, Richard Edgerton was in the Connecticut militia. He was at this battle. He had been in Saybrook since 1635. He was one of the Dutch who had built good trade relations with the Natives. He became a founder of Norwich. He's buried in Post and Gager cemetery. He had 8 or 9 kids, the surviving all married children of other Norwich founders. He's buried in Post and Gager Cemetery, which was partially on his property. As far as I know, a section of the house that he built on his property was relocated to another street in Norwich, and still stands to this day.
