treaty port lets an unbridled access to the market that treaty port is bordering. They just can steal any resource they want from that market (at fair price, but still) and ignore any kind of embargo or tariffs. That said, Gibraltar was a treaty port to French market even when Spain was simply a puppet

Gotta love how he was ignorant of US history too. Slavery wasn't completely outlawed until December 1865. He was likely referring the Emanicpation Proclamation that only freed slaves in select areas (Confederate territory the Union held at the time) was signed in 1862 but only went into the effect on January 1st, 1863.

The President is the commander in chief, so as far as the Supreme Court, Congress, and Lincoln were concerned, the Emancipation Proclamation was a statement against a military threat.

You need to have the Landowners in opposition, something which I'm sure a lot of players don't even realize, in order to even get a political movement to restore Slavery. even then, they need to be radical enough to even trigger a revolt. and EVEN then, the States that secede will likely be in the north anyway, because the way revolutions work in vic3 is absolutely stupid.

@@Videokirby imo the war needs to be dictated by events and journal entries. the current political system doesn't support the unique circumstances around the American civil war. I'm interested in how paradox patches the war in the future. but for now I made a mod that forces a historical civil war, and it works out pretty alright.

@@trupizza671 That would just set us back to Vic2. They need to do what Paradox does well, gradually iterate the feature until it approaches perfection. Give it like, 3 DLC cycles and we'll have a system that DOES model the circumstances properly, while allowing for ways to get around it.

The person who said Bo is behind IRL America in banning slavery is incorrect. The Emancipation Proclamation went in effect at the start of 1863 and it wasn't until Decemeber 1865 that Slavery was completely outlawed with the 13th Amendment. The Emancipation Proclamation only freed slaves in New Orleans and the former Confederate Territories held by the Union.
