The War on Consciousness - Graham Hancock

What is death? Our materialist science reduces everything to matter, materialist science in the West says that we are just meat, we’re just our bodies. So when the brain is dead, that’s the end of consciousness, there is no life after death, there is no soul; we just rot and are gone. Actually, many honest scientists should admit that consciousness is the greatest mystery of science and that we don’t know exactly how it works. The brain is involved in it some way but we’re not sure how. It could be that the brain generates consciousness the way a generator makes electricity, if you hold to that paradigm, then of course you can’t believe in life after death, when the generator’s broken, consciousness is gone. But it’s equally possible that the relationship - and nothing in neuroscience rules it out - that the relationship is more like the relationship of the TV signal to the TV set, and in that case, when the TV set is broken, of course the TV signal continues. And this is the paradigm of all spiritual traditions, that we are immortal souls temporarily incarnated in these physical forms.
If we want to understand consciousness, the last people we should ask are materialist scientists. Instead, we should look at ancient cultures, like the Egyptians, who highly valued dream states. Many ancient cultures around the world used hallucinogenic plants to understand consciousness and expand their minds.
However in today's society, visionary plants are highly illegal because they promote a state of consciousness that does not agree with the agenda of profit. Substances, like coffee, alcohol, sugar and pharmaceuticals, are forced upon the population, but possession of even small quantities of cannabis, Ayahuasca or psilocybin will land you in jail. If we do not recognize the right of adult sovereignty over consciousness, then we can NOT claim to be free.
Look at what our moderns state of consciousness has done. We have destroyed the natural gifts of earth in pursuit of short-term, selfish gain. We must reconnect with spirit immediately or else we will encounter disaster. Visionary plants could be the remedy for our current sickness.

I'm a bit confused by the response to this video. I understand that Graham Hancock has some ideas that may seem odd or baseless, however, I don't see why some people think that means this channel is deemed "no longer educational". My God, if we can't listen to the ideas of another person and consider what they might offer, even if we disagree, how on earth can we ever expect to learn anything at all. Take what you can from this video, reflect, ask yourself questions, and move on.

I mean his ideas are beyond the pale no doubt, but he is pretty meticulous in his research. He uses evidence and cites his sources and his conclusions follow logic. Even for the parts that don't have evidence he makes that known and they are at a minimum plausable. I've heard many other scholars dismiss his work but never seen them actually dispute it. Honestly if you aren't willing to hear it, you don't have to. You are only limiting yourself. If it is true what Graham says we are more powerful than we know and are in for a good time. If he is wrong than we are still where we are now. So what are you even losing here?

The very fact that people are waking up is the same reason we see so much turmoil in every area of life right now. We consist of both ego and soul. The ego is like a child and is fearful of this big shift it feels. It is afraid once the souls of the human race begin to fully realize and step forward, there will no longer be a use for the ego. A high dose of 5.5 grams changes my life. I did shrooms more times than I can count but wasn't until I did that dose and closed my eyes that I realized the Beauty of it all. I was brought to the light and returned with my soul. I didn't understand it at the time. Now I have quit smoking excessive amounts of weed after 23 years. I found God for the first time and now I found Jesus. It sounds crazy because that's what I thought my whole life when the rare person spoke about it. It's real and we need faith to save our souls and this planet. The earth didn't start this downward spiral until faith in Christ was lost in the 60s. Believe and live for those around you not yourself. Selfishness causes stress and dependence on substances to make ourselves feel better. I was suicidal merely months ago now I am happier than I ever could have imagined and so is everyone I reflect that too.

As an agnostic atheist, who does not believe in spirituality or a soul, I find so much good in this video. Secular humanism is the way to go. There is so much we are unaware of with our conscious and the universe, so many beneficial plants and drugs, so much devastation. kyjo72682 I am searching very hard to find the potential for any evidence of the connection in peer reviewed journals and I am failing. I will continue trying. I am finding ones on "pharmaceuticals", but thats note quite the conversation happening here. Until then, I will present a hypothetical one. Given the findings between hallucinogen etic drugs and overall well being (many studies on this) I would make the argument that if people used these for a better sense of wellbeing they might release their dependency on things that are bad for themselves and the environment. For example, meat. The meat industry is one of the greatest contributors to global warming and there is correlation between processed meats and cancer. Some animals are immune to their severe symptoms, however negative effects are dependent on the individuals consuming these chemicals. A species’ DNA mutates for it to survive and reproduce. Most Mammals/other organisms in kingdom animalia have been around for much longer in different forms way before humans and similar primates began to exist. So in most ecosystems there is a drug produced by a plant as a defense mechanism, there is at least one species immune to it, which is why none of these plants have overtaken in the terrestrial lands on Earth. So this connection we have with the cycle of life that you speak of is pretty irrelevant. Plus, your point that we should use what nature provides us is inciting that we should keep up industrialization and keep on destroying ecosystems on our planet and poisoning it, most of the world is industrialized so I do not understand your point here. Organic options for food and healthy (Trader Joe’s/Whole Foods/farmers markets/Jamba Juice) concoctions of fruits/veggies as drinks and water exist so your idea that they do not exist are extremely false. And it’s nice that you assume I drink when I am sober. Alcohol is a substance that our brains receptors pick so, drugs and alcohol are the same with your logic.

I started to research for last five years. I noticed how past cultures had soil growing conditions and famine. A rise in violence physical and mental. I also noticed diseases are of inflammation and lacking nutrition antioxidants. What condition humans have depends what we support internally. As genes or functions loose harmony. They become disorderly and less efficient. Performance goes down for body, the body becomes suppressed. --- Too be empowered or enlightened or raise vibration.
