This is still the most beautiful song ever. The one that makes me miss my friends, and the one that makes me hope someone is here still after me, listening to this, and immersing into beautiful thoughts with this song, hopefully into thoughts including that perception of me who loved this song and missed my friends

Certainly very American as far as his influences go. I hear Jerry Garcia riffs, Lindsey Buckingham solos, Bob Dylan meets Tom Petty vocals with a little Jackson Browne ambience thrown in there as well. I have to say the whole thing is put together beautifully. He's a Class A songwriter.

LYRICS (LIVE on KEXP) The War on Drugs - Red Eyes (VERSE 1) Come and see Where i witness everything On my knees (you got to) Beat it down to get to my soul Against my will When anyone could tell us you're coming But Baby don't mind You leave it on a line, leave it hanging on a rail (VERSE 2) Come and ride away It's easier to stick to the old (ods) When you're surrounded by the night Surrounded by the night and you don't give it in But you abuse my faith Losing every time and i don't know where (yeah) You're on my side (again) So ride the heat wherever it goes I'll be the one i can't (whoo!) (CHORUS) Come and ride away You can see it in the dark night touching my soul When you can see through the darkness coming my way (yeah) you won't get lost inside it all again (BRIDGE) Am i right? no one sees you around here waiting They don't mind, that i'm here, i hear For the best way, are you mine against it? (yeah) I would keep you here, but i can't (even) Oh, the right way i don't want to see it And i don't see it anywhere i turn, yeah (CHORUS) Come and ride away You can see it in the dark night touching my soul Yeah i can see it in the darkness coming my way Yeah you won't get lost inside it all You're all i shall... How can i see the day before the night How can i see the *hum* before the time Yeah you won't get lost inside it all You're all i know... (whoo!)

the first time i heard this song was, when my wife and i travelled through aragon and katalunya in july 2017 with our camping car. it was damned hot, even in the mountains there. and we found by chance a public outdoor pool in Tremp. i went twice into the water, the rest of the afternoon i listend to an incredible good alternative and punk and avantgarde rock mix. in a public outdoor pool. and than came this song and put this day on an other higher level.
