THE WARNING - CHOKE- Reaction

TW3 is not a concept album but yes, it is due out this year. Choke is the first song they have released from their 3rd album. The video was shot in their home town of Monterrey Mexico with a completely Mexican crew that was done in one LONG day. They write all of their own songs and they choose the music they do. Normally, songs begin with Pau, the drummer. She has a long list of song concepts that she has noted over the years, for example this particular song was written in 2019 but not played in public until now. She sits down at a piano and begins to flesh out her concept into a song and then takes it to her sisters. They all go over it & make revisions until they are all satisfied with it. Putting it mildly, they fight about it as each one has their own idea of how a song should sound but they are remarkably good at settling on a final product. That is just normally. The other two sisters also write, just not as prolific as Pau is which is another thing that makes them pretty rare; a 3 piece band with 3 very good multi-instrumentalists that is also composed of 3 singer/songwriters. As for someone else influencing them, not so much. Copper Bullets is an example of a song their parents didn't really think such young girls should be writing about but they put it on their first studio album anyway. If you aren't familiar with it that song is about domestic violence.

Martirio (which is their second song in Spanish) hasn't been released officially, but it has been played in concert and posted unofficially. That is going to be on the album. The remaining 10, they're keeping things very quiet.

I only hope and pray that they are treated fairly and honestly by new production company, LAVA RECORDS, and all others, so that their parents can be rewarded with some of the profits! (please GOD bless their parents with financial blessings multiplied 7 fold.) If anybody takes advantage of these girls, me and thousands of The Warning Army (may think about) using the proverbial "CHOKE" on them. "They have been WARNED!" like the 3 girls say.

This song is a sonic tsunami!! Yes, this song is part of their third album to be released "Soon". Now they're 21, 19 and 16!. Amazing!! They wrote all of their songs and had 7 months on negotiations with Lava/Republic Records to maintain their artistic integrity. So, they're very young and very smart. About the lyric: “'Choke' is a song about drowning in your feelings and coming to terms with them," the band shared in a press release. "Recording it with David Bendeth (while in quarantine!) was an incredible experience and he really worked with us to bring the song to life.” Viva The Warning!!

This song is just good straight up ROCK! you can hear how well it has been produced and is mixed very well. They released the audio first on 05/20/21 then they released this video early the next day, THEN they played it live in the Cave for their Patreons in celebration of reaching 1500 Patreons. Later in the day they had a interview/Live-stream with Rolling Stone Mx and talked about their process and other things, then did another LIVE performance for the people watching the stream. When played live you hear or you notice different things then this produced video. They write all their own music, in fact Pau (the drummer) initially composes most of their songs on piano first. Now that they have signed with a record label (LAVA), they have the benefit of a professional producer (David Beneth). However, they reportedly have an almost unprecedented contract for a young band, giving them creative control over their music.

The girls are Daniela Villarreal Veliz, 21, guitar & vocals. Paulina V.V., 19, drums. Alejandra V.V, 16, bass. This is a track from their yet to be released, name yet to be revealed, 3rd album. They recorded with David Bendeth, producer, at 5 different sound studios over a 3-4 month period last year, from Sept. - Dec. in New Jersey. Then, returned in January 2021 to mix and master the album. They created this music video in their hometown of Monterrey, MX, after finishing the mix. They create their own music. No influence from anyone. That includes their EP, Escape the Mind, released in April, 2015 when they were 15, 13, and 10 years of age. The songs mostly begin with Paulina creating a melody line on the piano, who gives it to Daniela and Alejandra and they create the song from there. With lots of arguing over what the song means and where it should go, but they look at that as a positive thing as the song is eventually a creation from each of them.

If you're gonna do Queen of the Murder Scene, the November 2018 performance at the Lunario in Mexico City was the first performance of the album in its entirety and the video was pro-shot. It is raw and passionate and emotional and the girls were only 18, 16 and 13 which is even more incredible. The Foro Didi performance from their hometown of Monterrey in June 2019 is better for the audio and some of the video although there were numerous technical problems (which they overcame in spectacular fashion). The Whisky a Go Go performances from January 2019 and January 2020 are the most polished. Each of these choices has something special about them and you can't really go wrong with any of them.

Their 2nd album is Queen of the Murder Scene, which tells the story of a girl who goes from love to obsession to murder and madness. You've done 3 of the 13 songs but going from 1st to last gives the full effect. Dust to Dust is the intro, which you're heard. Next is Crimson Queen, which introduces the girl's obsession, who doesn't even know she exists.

Nice! This song is part of their third album which is soon to be released. They write their own songs. The album was recorded and mastered in NJ. David Bendeth, producer of Paramore and Breaking Benjamins songs, was the producer on this album. They came to NJ with ten songs and then wrote two more while there with input from David. The album has 12 songs. Their Mom has acted as lyrics editor on some songs (especially Narcisista). But in the end these songs are their creation. Their mom once asked Pau (principal writer/composer) if she could write songs about unicorns and rainbows. She said no.

They don't like people attempting to get them to change their songs in ways that don't meet with their approval. Dull Knives is one such example; various people, their father included, wanted it to be longer. They did try a few things, decided it was best as it was, and told everyone who wanted it to be longer to play it again. They do not mind in the least being worked to the bone and pushed hard to improve. Dany has said that this was the most difficult song on the album for her to sing, and that David Bendeth pushed her to do things she didn't know she could do. The vocals really go far beyond anything they've done before. They have a primary vocalist who belongs in the conversation with any female rock singer, but most bands with such powerful vocalists don't have two other excellent singers to either alternate leads with or sing backup (that spot around 2:50 in the original or 6:00 in your reaction is an example of such). They've also said that they're extremely happy with how the album turned out and how much they enjoyed working with David.

Good reaction, Shane. I too heard of The Warning in the last 6 mos. or so via KZbin, and I became an immediate fan. There's another band you might enjoy reacting to called Burning Witches. They're like The Warning in one way: all the band members are female. They're a metal band from Switzerland. Their forte is good ol 'power metal/hair metal. As a first listen, I'd suggest their song "Hexenhammer," the official video. It's a couple years old but, like I said, a good introduction to the band. Cheers!
