I introduced a good friend (long time drummer for various cover/bar bands) to The Warning and his description of them was good enough to share. "It's my belief that 90% of everything is crap. This band took that 90% from Rock, Punk, Grunge, Metal and Pop and tossed it out keeping only the best 10% and putting their own spin on it. They really have no business being this smart this young."
@abugewww8013 Жыл бұрын
Great comment. Only one quibble with the quote. They have worked incredibly get this "smart". They also are deeply introspective and this music has a hard edge because of it. They have every business being where they are because of it.

@@abugewww8013 Wouldn't it be great if hard work was all it took. I think my buddy has a point with his compliment. But hey, feel free to tell him next time you see him.
@ronhall539510 ай бұрын
Actually it is a great compliment. He is congratulating them for their musical brilliance. They worked hard, listened to.Their mentors and then added their own flair. Their songs are about the lyrics. Once established, they decide as a group what energy the song needs. 90% of the time they are going for some sort of rock sound, but not always. Evolve was the first song they had the riff first then had to come up with lyrics and a melody later.

I find that with most of their songs (excluding QotMS album) - recently, didn't really like Hell You Call a Dream (studio) (I lie - it was good, but nowhere near my favorite) - but the Pepsi Live release is awesome, and elevates the song towards my top 10 (and that's a hard list to sort)

Generally speaking, in one way or another, pretty much everything they do has a darkness to it. They are not a puppies and rainbows group. That said, offstage, they are the most fun loving, upbeat, and energetic group of young people you're likely to ever meet. Watch their earlier vlogs or more recent tour aftermovies to see them in real life.

The Warning makes music that appeals to them. They don’t stick to a single cookie cutter style or sound. Their lyrics tend to be deep and full of meaning. Their song construction is impeccable. They are just remarkably talented in so many of the different elements. Mind blowing. Awesome video! Hard to pick a favorite.

Dany's skill with her guitar effects never ceases to amaze me. She always seems to find exactly the right effect to fit the song. They are all masters of their instruments. Ale's bass lines and Pau's beat hold this song together, but I think Dany's guitar and voice make this song great. Everything they do live is far better than the studio recordings.

This is a really good example of them taking a lot of influences and wrapping them into something different. Really mature songwriting and execution. The message in this one is good as well. The groove Pau & Ale lay down is one of their best IMHO. Like many The Warning songs, this one is not flashy, but really can grab your ear. This one was not a favorite on first listen to the album. But over time it sure has become one of my favorites from a musical perspective for sure. Glad you liked it as well.

I'm sure people have commented this before. But if you like this darker edgier stuff, you will probably enjoy listening their previous Album "Queen of the murder scene". It's a concept album, so has to be listened to in order. Best way to experience it is from the the LIVE AT LUNRIO concert where they debuted the album from start to finish. "Dust to dust" and "UGH" are from the QOTMS Album and they are both played at the concert you are currently reacting to. So check those ones out if you want a taste. Great to see that you are still enjoying the Band and you are right they are very interesting to watch from a song writing point of view, as they have a unique style of composition that really gives that "The Warning" sound even when the songs are very different..

@@JustinPiercee Something to be aware of in regard to the Lunario concert, while it was the first time the premiered the album Queen of the Murdrer Scene, the do intersperse a few songs from their previoous album. The clanking sound at the beginning and in the backing track throughout is a recording of dropping a piece of their mother's jewelry (a bracelet or a necklace) onto a counter top. I love the slow drum fills in this one and the stone cold groove between the bass and drums throughout.

If you want to see TW in a completely different light, there is 3 songs that really twist the idea of what they do. 2 sung by Pau and 1 by Dani. All 3 are laments ( usually described as ballards by most reactors, but you will see why I classify them differently). Dani's is a song from QoTMS called "Crimson Queen" best live from Lunario. And Pau's "23" and "Revenant". Both best live from CDMX , Teatro Metropolitan.

Hey bro, I really like your reactions, only because of that, "I dare you" to listen to their concept album Queen of the murder scene, I'd like to hear your thoughts about it, I quote " Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept album which tells the story of a disturbed young woman's inner journey from desire to obsession to murder and madness. The songs are told from the point of view of either the young lady's inner psychopath or her good side, which has a conscience - until it does not." (Taken from Timberwolf762's dicument) There you have 13 songs in a prologe and 4 chapters and i think you'll love it and I will say each one will be your favorite after you listen to them... They made a whole concert to release this album, I'll recomend you to react to this concert, you can go one by one if you want, I'll be waiting for your reaction, have a good one....

_The Warning_ is kind of their own "genera". They play whatever music fits the story they are telling. Doesn't matter what format it falls into; playing in service of the storyline is kind of their signature sound - they aren't a "hard rock" band, they aren't a "metal" band, they aren't a "punk" band, they aren't a "progressive" band... they are whatever is needed to fit the lyrics. Which, to me at least, is *awesome* . It is what got me hooked on the band a few years ago... because it's kind of rare to find musicians who do that. So, because of this tendency, they sort of make "their own" sound... often different from song to song, but still recognizably "them". And we're here for it. 😁
