Hey Nikki! The Warning are always mixing genres and decades of rock. That is what makes their sound so unique. Their ability to blend so many different styles and genres makes them outstanding songwriters. Then add to that their musicianship and their live energy, makes them one of the best live bands on the planet.

Members of a lot of the bands that I grew up listening to got into playing in a band as a way to impress the girls. They had a “rock and roll lifestyle” and were looking for a wild time. They seemed to be rockers as a job, rather than because of their love for the music. Sure, they would love it at times, but it was secondary in terms of why they played. Dany, Pau and Ale seem to love the music. They make great effort to get things right and really love playing it. They love performing - even when it’s on a tour with over 100 shows a year. They always bring energy and enthusiasm. That’s what I see and it makes me happy to be a fan. Thanks for the cool video!

Survive is their Anthem, and has been played at their shows since it's debut. It showcases their enthusiasm for the music, and the love from playing as a family. It has stood the rigors of time for them. It is the anchor, and it is, the song that hooked me to them, and so many more. We love to hear it love, and we love to participate along with them for it. It's a crowd pleasing song then, now, and in the future. If you or your subs really want to see something special, watch them do their TedX Talk in 2017. They give a moving speaking presentation in their 2nd language, and play 3 songs. The first 2 songs blown the audience away, but Survive is the closer that drops them to their knees! They was only 12, 14, & 17.

The Warning is unrestricted by genre, and have an amazing diversity of musical tastes. They listen to everything from classical music (Vivaldi, Bach, etc.) to k-pop/j-pop to classic rock and metal. 'Disciple', one of their most metal tracks, has k-pop elements in it.

Nikki, these three ladies are the real deal. They just announced that they will play in Wacken in 2024. Dany, the guitarist can hold her own with any female rock singer, Pau the drummer takes no prisoners and Ale the bassist is great at 18 years old, great backing vocals and awesome bass lines.

Hi Nikki, hope you and your husband are enjoying the Metallica shows. Back to TW, this song got them a lot of new fans when they first performed it at the 2017 Ted talk. Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Ale was 12 years old. It's from their first album XXI Century blood where they experimented a lot to find their own sound. As @TimberWolf762 writes below, they are unrestricted by genre and mix, merge and combine as they please and to our enjoyment.

There's a rule that whenever I hear Survive, I stop what I'm doing to listen. I'd get up and dance if my knees allowed for that. Still my favorite, after all these years. This song originally started with a piano intro played by Ale, giving it a bit of a showtunes style until everything kicks in and they go full blast. It's a rock dance song that in the 1980's would have had an extended dance mix. I suspect that the actual target of this song is a bit different from what it sounds, although I've never found out the story behind it. I think it's more likely to be someone in the recording industry whom they consider to have double crossed them, the same kind of thing as Unmendable. They actually have quite a few songs of triumph over detractors: Animosity (a personal acquaintance of Pau's who was unhappy that she didn't want to go to a sleepover party because they had a gig the next day, and told her that the band would never amount to anything), Narcisista (slap back at critics in Mexico unhappy that they were singing entirely in English up to that point), and I believe Fade Away (people who told Pau that she had no business trying to play the drums) also. While they have written a few love songs, they always have a dark undercurrent to them. Note how Dany sings "your words mean NOTHING" in the second (in this performance; she sometimes does that in the final chorus) chorus -- she's spitting them out with blood in her eye. And watch Pau in the intro.

Teatrro Metropolitan is pronounced TAY-at-ro metro-POLE-ee-tahn. Now, they are all having fun. During her mid-teen years, it was clear that Ale was not as comfortable performing on stage as her two older sisters. But she's all grown up now and clearly enjoys playing even in front of HUGE crowds.

Great reaction! I first heard Survive and The Warning while watching their second TedX. That is a great video to watch and they play Survive as the closer. During the TedX they talk about their story, and their dedication to being true to themselves and their own artistry because it's "their creative outlet, not just business." At that time they were being approached by HUGE entertainment entities about signing them...but of course they'd have to change somehow. In that TedX, between their songs, these three very young artists talk with a maturity way beyond their years. It is one of the most inspirational presentations I have ever seen. They play three songs from their second album. First up, Unmendable...which talks directly to those entertainment industry types and their feelings about how they were treated. The second song is When I'm Alone, which deals with battling inner demons, self doubt and a confidence of crisis while presenting a smile to the outside. The last song is Survive. Often, these three incredible artists have subtle messages built in to what they do and their lyrics can take on multiple meanings dependent upon the listener. Survive isn't a typical break up song as you might think. They were somewhere around 15, 13 and 10 when it was released and even younger when they wrote it.
@briggsy5893
@briggsy5893 Жыл бұрын
Their music does vary styles from song to song and even within the same song as you mentioned. As others have mentioned that is partly because of their wide and varied tastes in music, but also in the way they write. They don't box themselves in when writing with the idea that it has to sound like this because that is what we are. They write songs with the focus on making it the best song it can be regardless of what that takes. The other interesting part about that is that most of their songs start out with Pau playing on the piano, so a lot of their songs actually start out as piano ballads before they start developing the full sound of that song. When you combine that with the fact that none of them have any ego about what part they play in a song (ie guitar solos, who sings, etc...) it becomes their own style.

That was a great race between Pantera and The Warning, wasn't sure just who was going to win in the end but am glad it was The Warning. This is just a great all out rocking song, sure its a relationship song but done in such a fun way. They really do show that they are having fun up there, they enjoy playing and singing and it shows, this isn't just a hobby for them but a passion and something they really love to do. It's also great that each song they do often has a different vibe to it which keeps things fresh. Hope you enjoy the Metallica shows.

I'll be seeing the Metallica 2-night concert in Phoenix. I've seen The Warning in person 5 times since May 2022. It would be beyond a dream come true if The Warning came to the Metallica Phoenix concerts (The Warning don't have any concert commitments that weekend) to guest perform on Enter Sandman (I'm sure your aware of The Warning's version of Enter Sandman {with Alessia Cara} which was Disc 1, Song 1 of The Metallica Blacklist album). I know it's not going to happen -- but I can dream.

Nikki, Great comments on one of my top three warning songs. You mentioned you get the feeling of different styles. My take on the opening by Pau is almost theatrical as if a Broadway introduction. Just my opinion. On another note, you reminded me of another artist you may want to check out in more detail. Angelina Jordan has just released a new EP of six songs. It is a transformation from what she has done in the past as an incorporates a retro 60s vibe with current styles of hip hop, r&b and even a bit of rap in one song! What caught my attention is your liking of music that is empowering. I would call this EP progressive in that it begins with hurt and then each song progresses through the recovery to the empowered woman when all is said and done. Many reactors have gone through each song in order. The EP is called Old Enough. I think you will enjoy reacting to this along with more Warning songs! Peace and love.

You ever listen to Billie Jo Armstrong of Green Day? He misses lots of notes in live shows, and that's fine. Even on albums, he sounds like that. Fans love him. It's Punk. Anyway, You can tell this is live and it's really them singing. It isn't like Pop music performances where everything is processed through autotune and exactly on pitch, albeit sounding like something humming through cellphone wrapped around a comb.
